Good Morning from the 45th,
A little frosty out there this morning, but bright sunshine is taking care of that. Temp in mid 30's. Been chilly around here these past few days and a stiff N/NE wind to boot. Our growing season officially started May 14th, but it's too cold to do much right now. Feel sorry for the seasonal businesses that are always open to sell flowers, plants etc. as they have been forced to keep the flats of flowers covered to protect them. Went by one yesterday and it was just a maze of white covers over the rows of flats sitting outside. It's a reason I don't plant my flowers till after Memorial Day.
Been busy around here too. Playing catch up with stuff. Shopping, cleaning up house a bit, Dr. appt., cutting grass (in two layers of fleece and gloves with hood up on my jacket) etc. Today I plan to run to the vets for flea meds forthe girls, stop at the RE office and see if an agent I want to talk to is in, then come home and hopefully work in my TT as well as cut my neighbors grass. Supposed to cloud over this afternoon and rain showers moving in again. Weather has been so chilly and damp, I have not been able to work inside my TT at all. Been trying to get down to CW and pick up a few things before I head out on Memorial Day weekend, but so far haven't been able to get away. Next week for sure.
We are starting to get to the end of out heavier physical work at the park. The grounds are looking really good and overall it's great. This coming weekend we are going to open our south campground and the south bathroom bullding. So the entire park will go into operation. This is also the weekend when the site specific reservations start. Meaning that campers can reserve their favorite sites for a given date they want to come up. Course provided somebody else doesn't have it. When the parks go on site specific, if you come in without reservations, you are only guaranteed whatever site may be open, for one night then have to recheck to see if it's open for the next night if you want to stay longer. Some parks including ours, hold off 8% of their sites for first come first serve folks, so those sites can be taken for the entire 15 day stay limit. Memorial Day will be full. Then quiet again till schools are out etc. Before Memorial Day, a bit afterwards and after Labor Day, you can pretty well nail a site with no reservations necessary. But there are parks that have sites open all the time, cause they aren't as popular as others. So this week and next will be pulling together the last of the stuff needing to be done before Memorial Day including the installation of our floating fishing pier. And the swim bouys at the swimming beaches. Cold job that, as it requires the guys to be in the water, brrrr. At least with the pier they can stay on top as it's put together section by section.
So, time to be off and start the day's chores. Have a few other thngs like weed whipping, eventually planting of a few flowers painting of some ties and my deck to do here and should be all caught up with the spring rush of stuff that always needs doing. Then will be just routine maintenance. My neighbor is going to bring me a load of nice brown mulch for my beds around the house soon as he gets his trailer back from one of the kids this week. So will be spreading that out little by little. My apple trees are starting to leaf out and I am keeping my fingers crossed that we don't get another freeze while the blossoms are out.
Have a wonderful day all. Reveal in the moment.
