Congratulations on your retirement, Nan! I’m sure Vickie or Mitch with their many talents will do a better job decorating a cake for you, but it’s the thought that counts, right?

What a happy day for you, Nan!! How proud you must be of yourself. Congrats and here's to many more years of "doing whatever you want, whenever you want"!
Nice cake, Liz!
My eyelids are sitting at half mast right now. My 9 yr old GD and my 11 yr old neighbor girl, Katie, spent the night last night after we baked and decorated cookies. They fell asleep around 10 but my GD woke up at 2:30 and came to my bedroom to ask if she could go on the computer.
She's a good kid and quiet and knows the computer rules so I said ok. About 1/2 hr later Katie woke up and they were both in my office on the computer and watching kids shows on the TV. All very quiet about it. That lasted till 5AM and now they are back to bed and I'm wide awake. Such is the life of a retired Grammy and kids on Spring break.
Nothing planned for today. My GD wanted to go out for breakfast so we might do that, or perhaps go to the movies. Or do both cause we can!
Oh, I got my iPad yesterdayl Love it! Got it all set up except for the data plan. Couldn't see how to do that so I took it to my ATT store and come to find out I ordered the wrong iPad. I have the one that only does WiFi. SO I was the proud owner for about 4 hrs. It is now repackaged and awaiting pickup from FedEx. I've already reordered the right one, looks like ETA is May 1st. And so it goes............

Congratulations Nan, you have waited so long for this.
And Liz made this beautiful cake for you. Let the party begin
I wish you all the best and many happy adventures and miles on your tires.
Cloudy morning here at the 45th. Going to clear out and be partly to mostly sunny here today. Highs in low to mid 50's. So I am heading over to Petoskey to my RV dealer to pick up the cabinet doors I ordered for the TT. Might take the girls along, haven't decided if this is going to be a quick over and back or a more leisurly trip. Kind of want to do a few things here this afternoon, but will see. Neighbor and I are having a garage sale next week, so that is going to tie me up for about 3 days or so. I'm hoping that I can get to CW next Saturday as they are having Good Sam Days and President's Club members can get an extra 10% off besides.
Went one step closer to getting ready to roll for the 2011 season. The uncovering of my TT. Went from this:
To this:
Will take it in to get dewinterized in a couple of weeks or so. The give it a good cleaning insides, put everything I took out back in and prepare to roll out first chance I get.
So time to get going around here. Morning will be gone before I get out on the road. Have a great day all. Enjoy spring.

Congratulations on this special day, Nan!!! Liz, that is just the perfect cake!
It's a chilly, damp day in MD and is going to remain like this for the remainder of the day. Tomorrow will start off the same but will dry out later in the day but still remain cool.
I had hoped to get yard work done tomorrow and also wanted to get the gazebo cleaned out but it looks like this will probably have to wait until Sunday.
Tomorrow I will stop in to see my parents and take them some meals for the week. Dad is going through physical therapy to get his fingers moving from his double carpal tunnel surgery. Mom sounded really good when I talked to her on the phone a couple days ago. It's so sad watching them age.
Have a wonderful day everyone!

YEA! It's finally arrived and now begins the next part of the journey. Congratulations. That cake looks perfect to me, Liz. Trying to decide if we want to spend another day here in Big Bend or head toward Las Cruces. If I were a betting woman, I'd say the latter. Everyone enjoy their day. carold

GOOD MORNING ALL from St. Cloud!
CONGATULATIONS, Nan, and welcome to the land of the self-imposed, self-chosen, very busy work load of the retired! I still haven't figured out how some people who retire just loll away their hours in an easy chair, saying they have nothing to do and wish they were back at work! Perhaps it's the personality makeup of RVers that keeps us all so busy, but I haven't read a single post from anyone about missing their old jobs. Granted, part-time work and work camping are wonderful opportunities to make some much-needed cash, and I intend to re-activate my substitue teacher status when I get back home to make a small dent in what the trip back there will cost me in gas money. Welcome to the "new busy life of retirement!"
Alice I would love to see your van! If I only could afford it, I would also get me one, but I have convinced myself that I truly am happy with my little, boxy trailer, as long as I am not trying to use it for traveling around the country! I have decided to definitely haul it back home, as hurricane season down here would not be a good thing for it. Also, I have all my most favorite belongings in it, and to try to transfer them to the truck would leave no room for Molly and me! I am cleaning it out of all the extraneous stuff I haven't touched since I have been here and on the road, and leaving all that in my Orlando house. All I need on the road and back home will be the things I use all the time, and just a couple of doodads and knick-knacks-----not thousands! That way, I will be able to visit my home-town campgrounds this summer, and maybe get to some other bluegrass festivals I haven't been to in past years. By the time I get back there, I should be a pro at hitching, unhitching, and hauling. Now backing up is another story!
It's to be a day to break heat records for April down here, so I will now go back to the trailer, vacuum out the pool, clean the filter, and prepare for a day of sorting through stuff in the trailer that I can remove and lighten the load. Then my reward is lounging on my float in the sunshine in the pool, listening to 50s and 60s music on my MP3 player.
Happy Friday to all!

Good morning!
What a GREAT cake and CONGRATULATIONS NAN!
Sue, your snowy picture scared me.... then I saw the other one. I was really hoping you weren't still sitting in snow, guess not. hurrah.
Today, we are changing gears. Our original buyer for the business fell through. Thank goodness we had a back-up buyer and met with him at 10:30pm last night to sign an offer and collect earnest money. Closing now is on April 19. So today we begin letting customers, vendors, etc. know about the new owner coming in. Crossing our fingers that everything goes smoothly and we make it to closing without a glitch. We have a schedule to keep and I WILL BE IN TEXAS for my grandson's 1st Birthday - May 20. I WILL. I WILL. I WILL.
So, I'm off to move through the process.....
Have a great day!

Congrats Nan!
Soos - I'll post pics once the van has its roof top AC installed and passenger seat removed. You are much better off with the set up you have. The van will be good for weekender type things..not for extended stays. I'm not retiring the diesel pusher. I'm just making the best of what I already have.
A herd of repair folks are due here and already one has called to reschedule. The others are MIA. So typical of this area. Guess its true everywhere but I swear, I seem to have the worse luck when it comes to repairs.
The van is parked in my garage with its new engine and I'm still sticking with my auto free exercise plan.. at least for today. One day at a time.

Lenora, sorry you had to send your iPad back, DH is working on learning as much as he can about his and it is a challenge. I thought it would be as user friendly as my iPhone. Congratualations Nan!!! What a monumental day this is, I hope you are just giddy with joy on this day. Here on the ocean beach of Oregon the sun is shining, the sky is blue, a dove coos in the tree next to me, harbor seals are popping their cute little heads up and checking things out....all because I am seeing it from my RV. What a wonderful life it is. Next week I will be watching the Rogue River pass by and see deer up on the hillside across the river...all because of the RV lifestyle...What a glorious freedom it provides and now you get to enjoy it with the joy of retirement.!! This day is better than any birthday.... actually, it is a birthday for a brand new life!
