CLOUDY THURSDAY MORNING

Good Morning Everyone,
And how are we all this morning Hopefully ready to tackle another day in our lives and whatever it may bring.
Cloudy here at the 45th this morning. Had just a little dusting of snow last night again. With the sun out all day yesterday, it melted away what little snow had come down on Monday so my drive is all bare again except for up near the road where the snow is a bit more packed down. Course now with the light snow from last night, it is covered again, but I expect this to melt as well.
Well, the talk in Nothern Michigan at the moment is the rise in gas prices. They have risen to $3.39 -$3.40 in this part of the state. And it is generating a lot of concern up here as this part of the state relies heavily on the tourism insustry for it's livelihood. With some areas of the state getting hammered with lake effect snows and some not getting much at all coupled with two major thaws already, it is setting up to be a dismal winter for the businesses who rely on the snowmobile folks. We should have full motels and busy restaurants, especially on weekends. And machnes running up and down the trails. Instead, the trails are quiet and the motels empty due to lack of rideable snow for the past two weeks. And the season has about a month left (trails close on March 31), but after about mid March, people start thinking other things as downstate areas head into more spring like weather. And businesss up here in early spring is dead anyway, so for those who are making minimum wages, especially waitresses who rely on tips to make up the balance of their paychecks, these gas prices are hitting them hard. Will be interesting to see how it affects the summer camping season. My guess is that people will still go camping, but maybe not going as far or as often. The local folks will be there and also hitting the picnic areas and beaches cause it's close to home for them. There are also a lot of questions being raised as to why the gas prices are so high up here, when the state average is $3.18.
Enought abut gas prices. Today I am going over to see the friied I was thinking of seeing yesteray, then found out she wasn't going to be home. Called another one down south of me here and they weren't either. Hmmmmm, two strikes already and it's only 9 a.m. So called my cousin and bingo, she was going to be home after she got done with her three tmes a week exercixe class. So I went shopping to stock up on some stuff yesterday morning and then went over to her house in the afternoon. Her sister also came over and we played a game called Quizzler. Never heard of it or played it before. Kind of like Scrabble, but you play with cards. Only these cards have letters instead of numbers like a regualr card deck does. Object is to make words. You start out dealing 4 cards, you draw and discard till you have a word and lay you word out. When every body has a word laid out, hand is over. There are small number on these cards too, so you add up your score. If you have any cards left that you didn't use, you subtract that number from your total. Person who makes longest word gets an additional 10 points. The game continues as the next hand is 5 cards and the next is 6, all the way to 10 cards on the last hand. And you can use the dictionary to look up a word you want to make to check spelling etc. or see if it is a word. It's fun. Going to look for it and buy one for me. Might be fun to take camping or even to a GTG. Good mind game.
So I guess it's time to go get my morning bowl of strawberries, let the girls in and get busy around here for awhle. Going to try and experiment on my little campsite sign with some glitter mixed into the paint. Then later I will go visit my friend. So have a great day everyone.
