Wekiwa Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wekiwa Wednesday

Postby Liz » Wed Feb 23, 2011 7:06 am

Soos, Birdie and I put away multiple lobsters at Boston Lobster Feast in Orlando last night. A fun visit it was, and Roe and Molly got to take a hike and play together for awhile too. I’ll have to take a nice long hike here at Wekiwa Springs State Park this morning to work off the butter.

After that hike, I’m planning a quiet day working on a project in the RV. I’m redoing the screen that covers the back cargo doors by installing velcro to hold it in place. It kept falling down/ gapping at the corners and wasn’t effective at keeping bugs out in that condition. If my plan works, I’ll do the same for the side door, whose screen I have never used.

Hope everyone out there is doing something you love today.

Good Morning Liz,

Thanks for posting those pictures. From the looks of that stack of plates on the table and in front of all of you, you certainly did put away multiple lobsters  And the dogs lucked out cause their owners have to go for a walk to walk it off. Not bad, not bad. I had better keep these pictures away from my two before they get any ideas

Beautiful morning here at the 45th, but cold. Sunny and around 10 degrees. Had a bit of a hoarfrost last night and the trees are all decorated in a frosty white trim. Those trees are startilng to bud too, sure sign of longer days and coming of spring.

Gas prices are on the rise here again according to the news. A cuople of towns up here are reporting $3.40 a gallon now. I don't know what it is in Gaylord, but I can almost bet it's the same. And today I need to gas up  If they stay up or go higher, it is going to seriously crimp my summer travel plans and I will be just staying in MI, close to home camping etc. I plotted my possible trip to Lori's GTG with higher prices in mind and so far they are still under my budget. May be looking for a place to rent in FL this winter instead of taking the TT down. We shall see.

My friend brought her dog over yesterday and we had a nice visit. He will be fine here. He's a mix of Golden retriever and Wheaton terrier. Will have to watch him if somebody comes over or to the door as he might get protective, might not. Also doesn't really care for kids, so will make sure they don't try to pet him. Just little things. I rarely get anybody over here anyway and there are only a handful of kids in the neighborhood, this time of year I rarely even see them. She will bring him back on Friday evening on their way downstate.

Am thinking of going and visiting with a friend of mine in town who was workcamping in FL last year. Find out a few things from her. Hubby is out of town working down in the thumb area of MI researching oil and gas leases for a company down there, so they didn't go south this winter. She and I used to work together years ago. Haven't seen them for awhile, so it will be a nice visit. Got to call her to see is she is going to be home.

So, off to get a bowl of strawberries, then get my day going here. Hope you all have a good one.

Good morning, Liz and Sue and the rest whom follow them. It was a little foggy early this morning but it just about burned off now. Sue I really hate to do this but the temps here are about 65 right now. It is so lovely. Birds are calling and it will be another one of those great days.

Well, I am planning to put some things away that I pulled out trying to find my little bubble levels. Found them and got them installed in the drivers area so that should make setup much quicker in the future. Wish I had those power levelers. But I'll do that on my next rig! Then make a quick run into town for some milk later today. Right now I am headed over to Liz's to see if Roe and she are ready for a walk.

Have fun today. Be safe if you are traveling.

Good morning Liz, Sue & everyone that follows!

Liz, it looks like you, Soos & Birdie had a great time at your lobster dinner.

Sue, your friends dog is going to be in good hands while you're taking care of him. He'll love all the long walks you go on.

It's cold here again this morning, about 20 degrees, and all the ice from the ice storm a couple nights ago is gone. We're supposed to get close to 40 degrees today and have rain moving in for the next 4 or 5 days.

I have contacted Lori to let her know we'll be attending the GTG in PA in June and made online reservations to go to the September GTG at Beth's campground. I'm really looking forward to meeting all those that will be attending.

Take care & have a great day everyone!

GOOD MORNING LIZ AND SUE AND ALL!

We sure did pack away the lobster yesterday evening! I must say, however, tried as I did, I could only manage 6 (possibly 7?) lobsters yesterday! However, I aso sampled some seafood au gratin, which was really tasty, a bit of filet mignon, several helpings of fried clams, quite a few shrimp, and some cheesecake for dessert----I waddled out to the car to go home!

It was really fun seeing Liz again and meeting Birdie (Nancy) for the first time. A bird expert she really is, with eagle eyes herself, as she was able to see markings on the birds we passed that I would have never noticed. It was a good day for a walk in the woods, although poor Molly had a sore paw due to her ripping out a toenail the day before---I think she caught it in her car travel hut when she jumped out of the car. Although she didn't limp at all yesterday, she is limping a bit this morning, so I will have to watch to make sure it isn't getting infected. There is a vet right down the street in my local shopping mall which is comforting to know.

When I tried my AC yesterday, it is now doing the same thing the heater was doing when I needed heat...the compressor comes on just fine, as did the heater, but the fan isn't circulating the cool air. I am about to call the company fixer back, even though I do plan to install an entirely new system here next month, I might actually need AC sometime before that gets done. There is something messed up with the wiring in there.

Supposed to be a very warm weekend, and I am trying to decide whether to stay here and swim a lot, or head back to the trailer and try the beach in St. Cloud. As I think about it, the drought is so bad and the water so low at the town beach back there, I think I will stay right here where I can ride my bike to the pool as often as I wish!

Have a fun day, wherever you may find yourself. Remember that dancing in the rain, or in the snow, or in the midst of life's trials and tribulations helps to keep one's spirit nourished and strong. (I must try that the next time I am trying to back into a campsite!)
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Good-morning, Ladies, I had to go back and see the pile of dishes, you all sure should have been satisfied when you left there, :o :) hadn't noticed at first, was just looking at Liz's happy smile, and then went on looking for pics of Wekiwa. Soos, mentioned you all may swim yesterday afternoon at her place, did ya? Its 32 here this morning, so looking at you all in shorts, made me a wee envious. This time of year, is usually the best of times to be there, so enjoy for all of us, ok?

Sue, I took my r.v. down and topped the tank off yesterday. Gas prices climbing and after running gen and r.v all winter, i decided it needed a run and so did Maggie and I, and neither of us wanted to come back, but, another dr. visit Monday and many other reasons also. So will have to be good and just set here, sure hard. :( Thinking of going for a few nights in one of our CG's nearby, when they open up, just so Maggie and I, will have a decent place to have a good walk.

Today, Maggie and I, will make a trip to the dump and then top the car tank off. News this morning sounds like gas is going to be climbing fast here very soon. I haven't made definite plans of what I might do this summer, but I sure hope something  :D I , of course, have all kinds of good things running around my brain, and will do some of it , if at all possible, regardless of gas prices. The GTG thread is oh so tempting, I shouldn't even look there, I wanna go to all of them.  I don't get younger each day, so I want to try to enjoy all I can . My biggest problems are certain obstacles in the way right now, and I am plowing through them as fast and best as I can. Only thing that list keeps getting added too. isn't that how life goes sometimes though. All will be good soon :)

While writing this, no telling how many have posted, just hope I don't colide with someone and loose my post . I've been awhile as Maggie let me know she wanted outside, so out we went, oh well. If this makes it, have a great day everyone, doing something that really makes you happy. Safe travels for those on the road.

CArol :)

Several have posted, busy place this morning, thats good. Soos, I had the same problem with my fan not running, in heat and A/C unit, and it was just a loose wire , repairman, connected it back and problem solved. Hope yours is that simple,
Have a Great day all !!!

Oh man! Lobster...clams...steak...seafood au gratin...all my faves! Girl friends and I had a lobster eating contest on a cruise once..I lost by a half a lobster! LOL! That's ok, a few nites later I won the crab eating contest, so all was good.

Cold here, and rain coming back on Friday, but I'll be on a motorcycle headed to Arizona. Hoping to miss the rain there, but we never know. Thank goodness for good rain gear, keeps me pretty dry most of the time. Going to be cold, tho, so not looking forward to that to much. Oh well..guess if it bothered me to much I'd keep my butt at home. I just like to whine!

Have to take the truck in for smog today...can you believe California now requires diesel trucks to be smogged??? What a bucket of horse poop. Anyway, after playing musical vehicles to get it out of the driveway (Hope is still in the driveway since my trip to Q, back half acre is to muddy to get her back there) I took the truck out for a drive down the freeway to blow out the cobwebs and put some fresh fuel in....$3.99.9 PG for diesel. :o I couldn't believe it. Unbelievable. There goes the facelift I had planned, the money is going to have to go for fuel for this summer. Just kidding, no facelift, gonna live with this one. I've earned every wrinkle I have. Then I'm babysitting the little dude, my 2yr old great grandson. Kid wears me out, he never stops. Can't say no, tho, his mom is Chewy's babysitter when I'm gone and can't take her. Not that I would, he's actually a pretty good baby. It's just easier in the summer...I just strip him down and turn on the hose and he's good for a couple of hours. He should have been a Pisces like me! :D

Have a great day everyone and stay safe and warm!

Good Morning Ladies... many early risers... I was up myself early 7am... had to get food for Shadow out of container in front of the passenger seat... only to see my neighbor to the west of me packing up buttoning up and getting ready to roll heading toward Cincinnati, Oh... the spot most likely will be filled soon...
Wow you ladies sure packed away those lobster!!! hope you had my share as I would not order it!!!
The wind has died down and I will put the awning out again... hope I can do it all by myself... but if not will ask for help...
The pot luck was great last night... they had a fellow play a bit and sing with his guitar... made a nice time...
I trust you all have a good day...
