CLEAR FROST TUESDAY MORNING

Good Morning everyone,

I have been on this computer for over an hour, reading and catching up on posts. Was hoping somebody would have started some coffee this morning, but I guess I decuded to get some brewed. All ready so come grab a chair and sit and chat for a bit here.

A beautiful clear morning here at the 45th this morning, sun is rising in the east and trees are all frosy from the clear night last night. It is a bout 10 degrees, was 2 when I got up. This day marks the beginning of a warming trend for this week. Temps are predicted to climb into the upper 30's and 40's, with rain showers for tomorrow afternoon, on and off into Friday afternoon. Then a cold front with snow showers Saturday and Sunday before warming up again a bit on Monday and back down again. So the battle of the seasons is beginning. But winter isn't through with us yet I am sure. March can be tricky weather wise. Just when you think spring may be here, wham, a foot of snow comes along  the unfortunate part of this thaw is that it is coming just before a big holiday weekend for the winter sports businesses and I am afraid the snowmobiling is going to be in pretty poor shape, at least here. The trail base is already starting to show dirt.

As for me here, the tax man cometh today  And I have a few errands to run, plus pay my truck insurance. So the snowmobiling isn't going to be the only thing in poor shape, so is my check book

I got my living room, hallway and computer room all spring cleaned yesterday, so that's done. Just the kitchen cupboards/pantry and mud room left to do. I was on my knees yesterday, washing off a lamp table when I accidently dumped my pail of Murphy's Oil soap and water. all over my Pergo on the living room floor. Needless to say, my pant legs, knees, and slippers got wet. Got the sponge mop and cleaned it up, so the floor got a good cleanng despite the fact that Pergo doesn't like to have a lot of water on it. Decided that I won't have to worry about arthritis in my knees for awhile as they got good and oiled

Will be glad when time comes to get out in the yard and start doing some cleaning up and getting ready for summer. My deck needs a new coat of paint this spring too. And tractor is heading to dealers for a routine checkup and new mower blades. I grease, lube etc. on my equipment myself, but about every two years I send them to the dealers to get checked out good. And then it will be time to start getting "The Trailer" ready to roll again.

This coming weekend is the annual Polar Plunge at the park. It's held there every year. So will go watch the folks take their winter dip for Special Olympics. Always lots of laughs and fun. It's part of the State Police Torch Run for Special Olympics BRRRRRRRR..

Sue, you just barely beat me this morning. I, too, have been reading the recent posts. Had a great day yesterday, going down the river with Liz. Was a great trip up and a really short trip back. However, my body is not used to sitting in one position for 4 hours!!! My, my, my! Thought I'd have to roll out of the kayak. :o This morning, only my legs aren't sore! But, it was worth it and I'd go again today.

So once I get my, I hope, dry kayak folded and put away, I'll be ready to do some hiking. Need to go knock on Liz door and see if she has the trail to do for the day.

Will be another beautiful sunny day here. If you are on the road, be safe and if you are parked have fun, then go do it again.

Good morning Sue & everyone that follows!

Sue, good luck with the tax man today. At least that chore will be done for another year.

Birdie, you chimed in while I was posting. I saw the pictures on Liz's blog of your kayaking trip yesterday. It looks like you both had a great time. Enjoy your stay!

The weather here is a bit on the chilly side and a mild wind is blowing. We're only going to be in the 40's today. Yesterday we had a touch of spring with temperatures in the mid 60's with lots of sunshine. We're supposed to be spring like again this coming weekend, which will be nice. Once the weather starts getting warmer, the beach traffic picks up and people start heading to the ocean. There is one traffic light that I go through on my commute to work which is on Rt. 50, the main drag going to the ocean. On Friday afternoon's, my 1-1/2 mile commute can take up to 30 minutes or longer, depending on how long I sit at this intersection waiting for the light to change. Once I get across over this highway, it's only another half mile to get home. Because of the horrendous traffic jams going to the ocean, you won't see me there during the summer months, although there are several nice campgrounds in the Ocean City/Assateague areas. They are also a bit pricy compared to campgrounds in other areas of the country. There is a state park and a privately owned campground that I frequent that I can get to using all back roads. The Amish country in PA is only a couple hours from here and makes for a nice weekend getaway.

I called my accountant yesterday and made an appointment to meet with him this coming Monday. So I have almost a week to get my papers in order for him. I did a good bit of sorting this past weekend, so I'm just about ready for him. I dread this time of the year but it's a necessary evil.

I hope everyone has a good day, whatever you are doing.

GOOD MORNING SUE, BIRDIE, AND ALL!

As usual, it's another beautiful sunny FL day here in Orlando-----I haven't seen as much sunshine as I have seen since November down here in my entire life! We have some beautiful, clear, bright sunny days in the Adirondacks, but you can count them with fewer than the fingers on both hands, usually. This place never ceases to amaze me. I am getting my Vitamin D requirements this winter, for sure!

I'm back in Orlando to tackle some more screening on all the doors this time----should be a piece of cake compared to that huge panel I did the other day. Tomorrow is SS pay day, so then I will be able to think about getting gasoline for my truck and perhaps look around for a used truck camper. I found a Camping World down in here near Disney World, which I would love to look around. I've never been to a Camping World.

Birdie, how long will you be down here? Maybe you and Liz and Carolyn (Sedona's mom) could get together somewhere for dinner, or lunch, or something? It would be fun to meet you and see the others again. Do you happen to like Lobster? (Ask Liz about the Boston Lobster Feast right down the street from me!) I have beds enough for you and Liz to stay overnight with any dogs who might come along, and Carolyn's rig is close by, I think. I actually have enough beds for Carolyn to stay over, as well! The catch is, no rigs can be parked in this dangnable housing development due to Homeowners' rules. But plenty of room for cars...and maybe Liz's rig would pass as a car for the night! Let me kinow if it can be done.....I am ready for company!

Off to the screen duty now.....have a happy Tuesday, everyone!

Good Morning everyone... another sun filled day here... yesterday I went with some ladies to lunch... they do it twice a month... very nice ladies...
Not much planned for today except taking Shadow for a ride in the park... he sure loves to run and explore... wish I could let him loose but not going to happen...
I got a valentine from my daughter... it was home made with her machine... now that took me back many years to when the children used to do that with scissors and paste... how fun that was...
I hope everyone is having a good day... thanks for the pictures Liz and glad you and Birdie are having such a nice time...
Kathleen

I feel as though I have put in a full days work already. We had to have the two little dogs at the vets which is a 25 minute drive, at 7:30AM. I'm an early riser but, I not ready to go someplace that early in the morning anymore! I have a new appreciation for mothers, how do they get ready for work, take the kids to school or day care and manage to show up at work or anywhere on time! Both dogs had to be carried to the van, once they realized they weren't going for a walk they went limp! I think I have the fattest Havenese on record, Winnie is 16 pounds and Andy 26! They aren't really fat but they are no doubt going to be facing a decreased amount of snacks. That bit of denial makes me think of an article in the paper this morning by a doctor who said hardly any of the mothers who were told that their child was overweight believed their child was fat, even those who were in the morbidly obese category. Then as I was told that because of their age, the more expensive faster, safer gas was $30. extra per dog and again due to age the $42.50 ea blood work was advised. So...before they even opened their mouths the bill was already at $144.00! :o I was all inspired to call the tax man for an appointment but now I may wait cause I don't think we are getting a refund
Hope everyone is having a good day. I would sure appreciate good thoughts for my babies this morning, can't believe how quiet the house seems with only one dog.

Good morning everyone, Ive been having some trouble logging onto the forum for some reason, so now that Im here not much to say!!!! A nother beautiful day here in central Alabama. Seeing as there was snow a week ago! I hope spring is here and this is not just a teaser! But it is only mid-Feb! I will get my taxes done tomorrow, everyone seems to be getting that chore out of the way! I only have SS and interest income, so my situation is different this year. A carryover credit I hope may actually give me a refund!? I have an idea forming in my head about going back down to Fla, will think more about it later. Everyone have a safe and fun day. I am going to ride up to the lake and CG I go to in the summer and look around a bit. Wendy

Good morning all
I made it back to Huntsville Sunday night. Stopped briefly in Birmingham to see Wendy (readytogo)along the way.
Didn't accomplish much yesterday - picked up 3 weeks of mail and sorted it plus a little cleaning. Must have been more sleep deprived than I thought as I also slept of ad on throughout the day. No naps today; too much to do. Sadly the cleaning fairy did not visit while I was gone so the mess I left was still waiting for me.
Got to pay some bills today and settle up with some of the antique malls where I have booths. Sure they all need straightening up and dusting too.
Also have to figure out where I left off in tax prep so can finish that chore up this week. Will work in some time to try to catch up on forum news tonight.
Weather looks as if it will be good all week -lows in 40s and highs in 60s. I can live with that but would rather have FL. There are a few signs of spring - buttercups are sprouting up as are some wild onions (no grass to speak of in my yard).
Hope all have a great day.

Wendy, I told Sarah that I could definitely do some time at Gunterville's Lake. It looked like fun and kayaking combined. Birdie, I was tired after doing the 4 hour trip and the haul back to the rigs about did me in...but the most pressing issue of a 4 hour kayak trip is lack of bladder emptying opportunities. :? Both Nan and I thought about sipping more of our water and then realized that that might not be a good idea under the circumstances

Hope the puppers came through their procedures with flying colors, BJ. Even with careful precautions I always worry about the "might" possibilities.

Taxman was about what I anticipated. I really try to get close to not owing $ and not having much of a refund. I always prefer to leave money in my own account rather than let the gov borrow it interest free. :) Over all I get about a $250 refund. To me that is close enough. :)

Need to call my Step Mother and drive down and and get caught up on what her scheduled appointment might be for the next month or so between now and when I head back to the seasonal position. Sigh, duty calls. Ellen (SM) has had several phone conversations with her daughter in NYC that lets me know that she has forgotten conversations and decisions that she has already made. It confuses Libby (her daughter) and I have to remind Libby of the context that she needs to place the conversations in. Just b/c Ellen is confused, we don't have to be......well I don't anyway.

Thanks for the extra Diet Coke (instead of coffee/caffeine) I am of in the company of Herschel and Remi to catch up on the SM responsibilities..... The presence of Therapy dogs always makes the visit/s go better....for me anyway. :? :D :D :D

Hello All,

I am having a hard time making here in the morning! I am reading everyone's posts and tis the season for taxes...I have to get that done myself.
Anybody have any recommendations for out of state? Is it better to go with a national service? I need to use someone because I have a lot of various oddities which need to be addressed. I was going to call my regualr guy and see if we can do it via mail...

I am such a rebel and took my scooter out of the infield today and we'll see if they let me back in...after my 5 mile walking ordeal yesterday, I decided it was worth the try today to get to Walgreens and do some other errands. I will take Wrigley for a walk or two later today for exercise, but sometimes you have to get stuff. Both neighbors have been nice and offered, but I need to get my own stuff...so here I am, breaking the Daytona law!

The weather is beautiful and expected to get up to the late 60s today. Another question for everyone, anybody know where is a good place to see the space shuttle launch? Is there a campground where it can be seen from? I want to see it, but not interested in being shipped like cattle if I can avoid it. Also, the agency wants to pick up at 6am for a 4:30pm launch...and I am not so sure about that. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Beautiful day here in sunny Sarasota. Played tennis this am, had lunch around the pool and trying to get up enough energy to go food shopping. tGM got the taxes mailed off this am-we pay quarterly, so it never seems as bad :D Need to do some "clearing out the closets and get to our storage unit to cull some more unneeded stuff. Haven't figured out the logistics of where or how to store the rest of our "house" and where we will leave the van while we travel. Dr. appts tomorrow in Tampa and a 70th birthday party there on Sat. night. Tonight is "girls night out" at Trader Vics-always fun. Hard to believe we've been here almost 5 months and leaving at the end of March. Still don't know where we will be heading-this year I've given tGM ALMOST unlimited decision making since he was gracious enough to go where I wanted last year. Sounds like most everyone is busy and making plans. In case I forgot, welcome to any and all new members. Looking forward to posts and pics. Well, guess I better get going. Maybe I can get a mini gtg in before I leave. I'll keep checking the forum. carold

I had to laugh at Mitch's solution to the 'bathroom' dilemma while kayaking. I used to bass fish for long hours and one does become creative, but in a kayak, that would be a problem.

Thought I would let everyone know the vet called and the dreaded dental work is done and they are coming out of the anesthetic ok so we can pick them up late afternoon, what a relief. Winnie had 4 teeth pulled! Can't imagine how he got anything in her mouth to do that it is so small I can hardly get a finger in to give her heart worm pills. They are the chewable kind but as soon as I get hers out of the packaging she starts growling, she hates them. Thank goodness all she ever does is make noise she never has bit me over a pill, once she tried when I touched her precious bell. I need a nap.

Mitch, in a kayak? Really?
