Cold Sunday Morning

Good morning Ladies...

I woke up early because it ws cold in the house. My FUBAR heating system is blowing cold air throughout the house. Damn thermostat says it's "in recovery" but I'm still feeling cold air. Thankfully, the heat guys are coming out tomorrow. Between the cold air in the AM and the $300+ elect bill, they just gotta get this fixed.

Have decided to take Foo Foo out and drive her over to Costco...can't beleive how anxious I feel about taking her out. There's an access ramp to get from one road to another, and it's a full 270 degrees around--there are a lot of roll overs on this ramp by semis and car carriers. So I dreamt that I was driving Foo Foo on the ramp and she rolled back and forth on first the left side wheels then the right side wheels. I know, go slow and all will be well. But this is why I have to get in an drive her. The roads
are clear, it's gonig to be 50 or so today so no worry about any slick spots. Wish me luck Ladies!!!

I hope you all have a great day...I will be back home by 1:00 to see the kick off of the game. Go Seahawks!!!

Morning, Li,

You will do just fine on your trek to Costco. As for the ramp, just don't go over the speed limit and you will be ok there, too.

I think the Seahawks will be freezing their feathers off at Soldier's Field today!! Brrrr!!
Pouring rain here. Flooding everywhere! I was hydroplaning on the interstate as I drove to and from my GD's basketball game.

Speaking of her game, my GDs team did an excellent job. Although the young teams don't actually keep score, my SIL does and we won 32-8.
My DD is doing a wonderful job of coaching the girls. There are only 6 on the team so they get quite a workout!

Nothing planned for today. Gonna nap, I think. I haven't been sleeping well again. Early start tomorrow as I have to check in for my scalp surgery by 7:45 AM. Not looking forward to driving in the dark in pouring rain. I will give myself plenty of time and so slow. Should tick off allot of commuters! :o

Lots of different weather moving across the nation. Be careful out there!

Be sure to post your driving adventures when you are done....I am betting that you will have a smile on your face. :) I would bet money but I don't have those five bucks that Mitch has...

Sitting here waiting for it to warm up maybe a little before O carry that last loads out to the Snowy Short Bus.....Herschel is suspicious that somethings up! Also need to go ahead and load the kayak and paddling equipment. Liz said to! ;) :D She said that FL is not going to be as cold this year. :D So, I need to drive the Izzy dog over to my friends house about 10:00 am. Then it is a slow lazy drive down I75 through KY. But....I will be out of Ohio and heading in the right direction...towards the sun and warmth. I am guessing that Carol's driveway and mountain is still too snowy so this trip I may only be able to wave to the east and NC as a pass through Cleveland,TN. Know we are thinking of you Carolinagal :) Hoping Maggie's yard defrost enough for her delicate potty needs like a flat dry, unfrozen place to squat....

Thanks Lenora and Tina! I will certainly post when I successfully get there and back! :D :D

On the subject of thinking postively, Lenora, you will get to the docs in easy fashion despite the rain in WA...and hopefully, the surgery will go easily and you'll be done with this issue!

Tina, have a wonderful time on the road and at the GTG. I'll be there with you all in spirit... Hopefully, you'll actually be able to enjoy that kayak in the warmer climes of FLA!!!

Stay clam Li and think about breathing as you drive. Everyone who is getting or already on the road headed for the GTG have a great trip. Izzy's staying home :!: :?: but he is your navigator on the water Tina!!
It is cold and cloudy here but so far no rain, I'll be thinking of you tomorrow Lenora. Hope you can get a good nights sleep tonight.

OK....I don't have the time and patience to re-type the post I just lost due to hitting a stupid wrong key. Suffice it to say I have a full-blown cold now that has taken up residence in my head and chest. I am off to the store to get more kleenex and Coricidin, and then back here to practice some guitar and fiddle music.

I hope you all are having a good day and that those of you buried in the latest snowstorms are getting free to enjoy the cold air. I suspect that some clear, cold air would benefit me right now, but I'll have to settle for overcast, warm weather, traffic, and lots of people in the stores.

Be careful out there on the roads, everybody, and those who are already heading to the GTG down here, I'll be seeing you soon now!

Happy Sunday to all!

Good morning ladies,
Li, you'll do fine, just mind the speed posted on the ramp, and let us know how ya did
when ya get back.
Lenora, good luck on your scalp surgery tomorrow, and don't worry about the commuters,
since its a holiday, the traffic could be light.
Its cloudy here as well, so a little cool. Yesterday it was so nice, it felt like Arizona again.
Will have to check my weather link to see whats up with the cloudy weather today.
Not much planned today as I don't want to draw suspicion on unsuspecting you know who.
Those of you traveling....be safe
and above all, everybody have a great day.

Morning all,
Still some snow on the ground here. Overcast and dreary. Spring cannot come too soon for me. This lack of sunshine even for a few days really wreaks havoc on my moods if I let it. It seems as though John Denver can relate:

Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy
Sunshine in my eyes can make me cry
Sunshine on the water looks so lovely
Sunshine almost always makes me high

Have to work full time to keep my head up. I am heading up to Cincinnati later to visit with two of my GC who have birthdays, so I am looking forward to that. However, having to deal with the bipolar daughter while the docs are in the midst of trying to get her meds right will be a challange. So sorry to be a Debbie Downer today, just being honest.

Lenora, my prayers go up for a smooth and successful surgery. How old is your GD basketball player? Mine is 8 and she's a hoot to watch, all serious :| .

Li, ditto what others have said, just take your time and don't worry about those behind you. I am sure you will do fine. (this is something I have to work on myself)

Tina, we may pass each other on I-75. Please wave to your right and I'll do the same. Enjoy your trip. Hopefully, one of these days, I will be able to join in a GTG.

Safe travels

Good morning all!

It's sunny and 60 degrees at 7:00 this morning, but will be heading up to the low 80s here and low-mid 70s at the beach -- perfect walking weather for Jed.

My yard is beautiful, thanks to about 4 hours of work between my friend and me. I'll try and get some pictures today after our beach trip. I've got dozens of daffodils already poking green spikes up, so in another few weeks it's going to be really pretty out there. We put in lots of carnations and pansies, so it'll smell nice, too! I'm not too stiff to walk but bending over's another story ... ugh. Hopefully a walk along the beach will help keep things from getting worse today.

Li, just remember that you're bigger than most everything else on the road and whoever's behind you will just have to deal with it. When I'm pulling the trailer I always try to keep a good margin of space between me and the car in front. People don't seem to realize how much more space it takes to stop such big rigs -- and it's true! So just remember to back off the gas a bit if you think a car's too close. Patience is key -- not panic. ;)

Have a great day, everyone!

Laura -- and Jed

Thank you Ladies!!! You are the best...as always. I made it not only to Costco, but went on over to my landlord's house to sign a lease extension on this house I'm leasing here. I did fine with the driving, the ramps, and the turns. Even when I got lost in the housing area on the way to the landlord's, I was able to slowly do a couple of three-point turns and get back to going right. Actually this was a really good thing. Found out a couple of things that need to be dealt with at the dealership. When I put on the safety blinkers, they only work on the van and not on the RV itself! :x Then I found some sort of cable that appears to have worked itself loose at the back end under the RV. I think I can see where it goes, but I don't have the nut to hook it back on. Will ask the neighbor if he's got a nut big enough. (Mitch, don't go there.... :o )

The only problem I had was tryig to back into the driveway. The piece of wood we picked up yesterday to cover the gutter isn't sufficient. I was still getting stuck on the hitch (the V bars that hang down) digging into the driveway. I believe I totally entertained my across-the-street neighbor as I tried a couple of times to run her up the driveway. In the end, I decided to drive around the block and try to run her up front-end first. With a lot less scraping, she went right up. The next issue will be backing her back out at some point...but I'll talk with my neighbor to see if he's got any other ideas. For now, I have a 12-foot X 8 inches X 2 inches chunk of wood that isn't working too well

All your advice was well placed..breathing is good...I did find myself holding my breath as I went through skinny intersections then letting it out...guess it's like holding in my stomach...makes Foo Foo skinnier too! HAHAH! And I did go slowly but steadily...and did just like Laura said, I stayed back from folks in front and didn't worry too much about who was behind me. You wanna go around, feel free.

All in all, a non-event...just what I wanted...I'll be able to get her up to the dealership in the next couple of weeks without any major stress. Thank you for all the good thoughts...I know they came through and helped me get over this first go...no, I'm not getting cocky...just more comfortable.

And now I gotta focus on the game...we've already seen Da Bears get a touchdown, and one of our receivers is out cold, I think! That's a lot going on in the first six minutes.... :o :? :D

You should have brought you some snacks and parked in a parking lot somewhere and watched the game! Then you could cry all the way home! :o

Li, sounds like everything went well, except parking at home. My first few times out I white knuckled it, but with practice I relaxed. You will too.

Lenora, sending thoughts your way for a successful surgery.

To all you gals traveling, stay safe and hope the weather holds for your GTG. Linda

Nah...I don't cry in public...always better to do so at home behind the curtains... Oh well, the worst part is that I'll NEVER hear the end of it from you-know-who! :? :D :D :?
