WARM MONDAY WITH RAIN POSSIBILITIES

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

WARM MONDAY WITH RAIN POSSIBILITIES

Postby Nasoosie » Mon Jan 10, 2011 8:40 am

GOOD MORNING TO EVERYBODY!

I guess nobody likes to get up early on Mondays to post!

I see that it's only 8 degrees and snowing at home, and it's about 63 down here in Orlando! We may get some much-needed rain this afternoon, which would be so good for everything that grows and for the supplies of groundwater in this peninsula. I am hoping to get in a swim sometime this month, on a warm day, so I can say I have been swimming each month I have been here so far! Swimming is not exactly the operative word here, however----more like flailing across the pool or the pond and jumping out as quickly as possible before my blood vessels slam shut!

That snowstorm is really paralyzing people in the Atlanta area, and I guess the Carolinas, too. I hope that you all are being very careful and just hunkering down if you are somewhere on the roads in the eastern areas in the path of the snow and ice storm. I will be anxious to hear from Beth and to learn that she is safe and sound somewhere.

Yesterday I trimmed some palm trees after I got back here, and I really need to get that trimmer I forgot to bring with me from Goog's----I also need my stapler and staples so I can get my hardware cloth and screening up over my soffits that the squirrels have chewed through to access my attic. Yesterday I borrowed one from a neighbor who lives beside me and owns both properties either side of this house now. He leases one of the houses, which is a great deal for him. The lessees are a young couple who are expecting a baby in another three months, or so, so both houses have people who are young and responsible. It must have been such hell for them when my motorcycle gang lived in this place and partied all night every weekend!

Time to get some vacuuming done here, then maybe go for a bike ride before the rains begin. I love exploring the neighborhoods on my bike.

Time is drawing nigh for the big GTG at the park north of here, so I also need to look at a map and pick my route on which I will be hauling my trailer. Also need to plan what I will make in the way of food for the potluck suppers and snacks, etc.

Here's hoping you all will stop in for some hot coffee and let us know what the weather is doing where you are, and what you are all thinking! Of course, pictures would be wonderful, too!

Off I go----have a fun day, everyone!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Good morning all, it is cloudy but so far no snow which is supposed to come in later. Oh well, guess we have to expect some, just hope no ice in involved. Hoping Sarah and Carol are ok and anyone else in the bad storm in the south.
I'm so proud of myself, I posted my first picture in Maintenance/Tech using my Mac! Had a hard time fining my photos, not as straight forward as using Windows but I did it. I want to start selling on eBay again so time to learn all I can.

A windy, balmy morning here in Sarasota. My flight to Raleigh tomorrow looks iffy-trying to decide whether to reschedule or drive with tGM in the am. If the weather cooperates here, I have a tennis match @ 11am. Then had planned to pack. So, it looks like not just my RV travels are in jello  Everyone have a good and safe day. carold

Good-morning !!!
Well, the storm they said was coming, Did, I woke up to more snow in just a few hrs. , then we had at christmas,(between 12-15 inches, then) and its still coming down and almost felt like ice falling when Maggie and I, ventured out. I have 3 exits out of my house and glad to have the one out of the utility room, as all doors open out, but that one has a roof over that portion of the deck out back. Maggie, slid down the back steps, you could not even see where they are, she had to go, poor baby, so did all very quickly. She prefers grass, for her business :) But took only a second for her to make the decision , to just do it, so she could come back up on the deck with me. The snow is way up over her back.

I made a good decision to cancel my dr. app. for this morning, as our roads, even the 4 lane into town is shut down. The snow fell just too fast, for them to try to clear them for traffic, if you have 4 wheel, you might make it. My car is in snow up OVER the wheels, so good thing I have no ideas about going anywhere, I think for most of this week. We have several more days snow expected here and it will just add to what we have, temps are staying low so won't melt, what does will just be ice, its still really coming down now.

I think I have said before, that I am not used to snow like this. I was born in Michigan, but my Dad moved us when I was 8 or so, and I spent 50 yrs.in Fl.,playing in the sun and the last 11 in N.C. where we usually have enough snow, 2-3 inches at a time, maybe 4 times a year. This year, we have exceeded anything, I could have thought of. All I can say, Is I am so glad, I don't mind my own company  :o  Not saying I might not act weird, when allowed back out in society   (ok no comments, from some of you out there)

I have plenty of projects that might not have gotten done, had I been able to get outside. Yesterday, watched or listened to several very good movies, while sorting through the never ending paper work, that some I wonder why it got stuck somewhere, just needed to be pitcched at the time it came into the house. But I do have this habit, when leaving on a trip, of just sorting through and getting anything worth looking at out of the mail and laying the rest aside. I need to quit that !!!

No real news here, except my storm report. Its as bad as they said it would be, but Maggie and I, are fine and hoping we don't loose electric, but we will still be fine.

The way it sounds in Atlanta, I am so glad that Beth was down in Fl. last night, she sure made the best decision or no telling how long she might have been in Al. You gals may not have had her company at the GTG. How are you, Sarah, you got hit hard there too, didn't you? Hope you get on here soon.

Need to get on to more post, wasn't on forum much yesterday, and so much to catch up, not that I ever will.

Stay safe everyone,
CArol :)

Good morning to All
another sunny day here - but will probably be spent here in Jennie - The Driver has THE COLD FROM HE** and he says he won't forgive me for giving it to him......I woke up this morning thinking I'd died and gone to He** - he had gotten up during the night and turned on the heater then went to the front and closed the door between the front and bedroom. It must have been 120 back there. And he was all balled up with a blanket on his LazYBoy in front. UGH - I'll be so glad when we are both tip top again.
That storm moving on the east coast sounds wild. Last week Las Vegas had snow too - our son posted a couple of pictures of his yard under a couple of inches. Weird weather all over.
Have a good and safe day everyone.

Thanks, CArol, for the update! Sounds like you really got blasted again!

We got a light dusting here in NW TN - nothing to speak off.

GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!!!

Hmmmmmmm, fresh hot coffee! Oh heaven in a pot.

Was gonna jump right in today and get to posting but after reading the posts in here? I had to go look to see what the weather was doing in TN where we lived and son still lives. Not to bad at all in his area. Funny how the mountains block a lot of storms from Johnson City. I did see that Erwin TN is getting part of the storm but mainly it's the other side of the mountain into NC that is getting it. And looking at the weather map? Poor Charlotte NC is really getting hammered. Also saw some pix on wunderground.com of S Bend IN. Holy smokes!!! They've gotten 3 feet of snow in 24hrs. WHEW!! For goodness sake Carol you better get out the dog sled, winter long john woolies and your Nanook of the North parka!!! Oh, and your mukluks too!!!! Be careful and look out for polar bears! So glad you are staying home , warm, safe and snuggled up with your furbaby!!! If it keeps up Soos will have to make a road trip to your place to make sure you know all about wild winter survival!!! Geeze And Sarah!!! Glad your not out on the roads for any reason!!! Keep them feets warm. ;)

Nothing new here to report! Kinda chilly outside at 24f. Suppose to be chilly here for the next few days. Camp ground manager was dithering about some big snow storm that she said was gonna come in? Said she had seen the weather and news reports on CNN. Told her that I hadn't seen any such report. Woke up and went outside with Shade this morning and we had an extremely lite dusting of 'snow pellets'. Not suppose to warm back up to the high 30's to low 40's until Thursday. Such is life and at least I don't have to shovel snow and we're not in tents in Blythe in the dust storms!!!

Ok, Shade is bugging me to go outside again and I want to do whatever catching up there is in here.

Carol, sure hope Bill gets to feeling better real soon. No fun having a cold from he77!

Everyone have as good a day as ya can, be safe, stay warm or cool which ever the case may be!!

Love to all

Sure am glad I don't have to deal with all that snow and cold anymore! Whew! It has been a really bad winter for everyone this year! The locals are telling me that it isn't usually this cold here for this long, but I think it is fine (compared to where I came from!). Talked to my dad last night and they have been getting rain, ice and snow all week. MN is usually far enough north to not get the ice/rain this time of year so that is unusual. He already fell once on the ice this year, so hoping he knows better now to stay inside.

My conversations with my dad have been a little odd recently. He doesn't seem to be able to comprehend what I am telling him very well. I have to keep repeating myself until he finally understands. Will have to check with my brothers to see if they are noticing anything too.

I have decided to go up to Santa Barbara for my birthday next week. I have two days off but am going to see if I can get another one so I can stay two nights up there. Don't want to feel rushed to see everything while I am there. Plus the drive up there is so beautiful, I want to take my time.

Better go get ready for work now...got cinnamon/raisin bagels and cream cheese here if anyone is interested!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Good morning ladies
I spent most of yesterday running back and forth between bed and bathroom. Not sure if one of those quick stomach bugs got me or something I ate. Everything pretty well settled down by midnight and I was able to enjoy watching our incredible thunder snow storm for a while.
First time I've ever seen lightening with snow - sorry, no photos of that. At one point, we got 4 inches in one hour; over all we have between 9 and 13 inches depending on what part of town. Needless to say all of north AL is shut down and under a state of emergency; even I-65 is closed for about a 100 miles. I did take a few shots outside my garage door around 11:00 AM. If I figure out how to get more of other areas without getting feet wet will do that later (I do not own any boots and don't want wet tennis shoes).

Stay safe and warm out there. I'm staying home.

Bad cell phone?

Mild dementia?

Plain old age? (he's 80, right?)

He is 84. He had a massive stroke about 4 years ago but recovered completely (physically, anyways). He has had some mild memory issues since then, but just recently seems to have trouble comprehending things. I am thinking possibly small strokes. He hears OK, and the phone connection is good. So probably a combo of age, previous damage from the stroke and possibly more mini strokes going on. Am going to check with my brothers to see what they have noticed lately. Could be alzheimers but seems different from how my mom was, so not sure about that.

Afternoon travel pals, altho not many of us traveling now, except maybe Beth?

We are bracing for an 'artic blast'. The forecasters get excited about cold weather here. It is miserable today, upper 30s with drippy fog. Colder air coming in tonight, but no rain or snow with it. Keep warm Carol and Sarah. Wonder how Sue is doing up north?

I picked up ingredients for pork curry stew and intend to hibernate for the next couple days. Even have good books lined up to read. And I need to make reservations for camping with Sister and nephews at Carter Lake before the Bandon gtg.

Been seriously thinking about beginning to talk about not going home to CA the summer of 2012 with my Dad and rest of family. If I start early I'm hoping they will have lots of time to get used to the idea. ;) I really, really want to go to the North east and then head back across the upper part of country.

btw Barbie, I find with my Dad (83) it's hard for him to keep up with many changes, new places when I'm away from home. Maybe that's what's going on with your Dad. At home, familiar people, places and things, no problems at all.
Just a thought.

I've been thinking about getting a US map to mount on wall with maybe some sort of backing so I can keep up with where everyone is located. I'm just not as good as most of you about staying so current!

Time for some lunch, have a good rest of the day everyone.

Sarah, that is some snow you have there. Stay safe. Try putting your feet in garbage bags, should keep your sneakers dry while you are trying to get some more pics.

Barbie, hope your brothers have noticed the difference in you father and get him some help.

Carolinagal, good choice staying put. Just hunker down and enjoy your time with the puppy. Everything else can wait.

Carol, hope you and The Driver are feeling better soon.
