MORE FROST ON THIS WEDNESDAY!

GOOD MORNING ALL!

Another record-breaking frosty morning here in Orlando today. I took some pics at dawn, and here they are. I don't have a thermometer here at thishouse, but I can tell you that the ground is covered with crunchy, frosty grass.

Where is the pond?

I am hoping this will be the last white, frosty morning down here for a long while! Most of the stranded travelers who have been waiting at the airports are finally finding flights home to the Northeast today, as those airports get shoveled out and opened up. Many have found other ways home, such as rental cars, trains when possible, and buses when possible. But the majority of tourists have had their vacations extended by several days due to the blizzard conditions back home.

I am having no trouble getting on this ORS site, but many still could not get on last night, as they reported in the chatroom. From here I will try the Ladies' RV forum, as I couldn't get in there yesterday morning.

I hope you all are having a decent, albeit cold, week wherever you might be. I don't think I will be swimming today, but maybe tomorrow!

Coffee is hot and Hazlenut flavored, so stop by and tell us what's going on in your neck of the woods.

Love the picture of the mist over the pond, Soos. It's frosty here too, but expected to warm to the 60s today and 70's the rest of the week. That's good news for those of us going camping. I'm going to check out Clearwater Lake, and hope it warms up enough to get out the kayak. Now if it would just warm up enough to start loading the RV.

I returned the 2 grandsons to their parents last evening....whew, barely survived that. I am not a good Grandma/babysitter...love them, but really don't want that stress. Youngest gs, 8 years old, went to the backyard to play ball with Roe yesterday. Fenced backyard, boy and dog, what can happen, right? Well, apparently the dogs in the yard behind me, other side of an 8 foot board fence, started barking. GS was "annoyed" (his word) and started pelting oranges & sticks over the fence. I was alerted when I heard yelling in the backyard. Opened the door in time to hear the gs yelling back at someone over there. Pulled him inside and after getting the story, marched him over there to apologize. Neighbor wouldn't answer the door. We came home & I was having the gs write a note of apology when the police arrived. :o Officer was nice about it and talked to gs who was shaking in his socks. I think he knows the seriousness of his offense now. After the policeman left, we took the finished note of apology back to the neighbors. She still didn't answer the door, so we left the note. GKs: ACK!

So, I'm going camping and not going to worry about them until next week when I may have to keep the youngest gs again for a couple days.

Good Morning to All - I was just watching the sun come up over the trees behind the campground - looks like it will be another beautiful day. I think The Driver will be sleeping in late today as I know I kept him awake all night with my snoring. Even woke myself up a couple of times.
Soos - nice pictures - you live in such pretty areas both north and south. Do hope it warms up for you there though.
Did a bunch of errands yesterday and found "The Shrimp Ladies" so will post about them later today.
Need to keep busy today - it is a bad day for me - four years ago today our middle son died in an accident - he was 41. Will never forget that phone call from his younger brother. Today and his birthday still bother me a lot. Most of the time we can talk about him without it bothering me - but today.......Enough time to start writing about the shrimp ladies and correct spelling about The Driver's new shiRts.

Gosh Soos it is a warm 37 here in Illinois and supposed to be in the 60's by the weekend. I hope your oranges aren't ruined, can you juice them and freeze the juice.

Liz I bet yesterday is a day your GS will never forget! Would love to have seen the expression on his face when the police showed up at the door! I'm sure you were not amused when it happened but it sure made a good visual this morning. I can't believe she called the police instead of you!

Good Morning... Yes it is frosty here this morning but will be 63 later... this cold has gotten into my bones... ugh... I am getting the connection on my Bright Hope next week for the external LP tank... that will be a huge help...
Oh my Liz the neighbor should have answered the door or came over to you not call the police... that had to be stressful... you need your camping trip now to unwind!! :) hope next week will be better...
Today I will be able to get out and ride my trike with Shadow... it has been far to cold to do that these last few days...
Carol will be thinking of you today and hope the day passes fast...
Stay warm everyone and another cup of coffee is in order..
Kathleen

I'm picturing how scary Liz must have looked at the door for the neighbor to refuse to answer :) I can understand refusing to answer knowing they'd called the police and figuring they hadn't arrived yet. But afterwards? You did the right thing in wanting your gs to do the right thing and apologize, and they should have been "big" enough to accept it. Off my band wagon now - but yep, you need this camping trip.

A quick Jean update - she's rapidly going downhill - and I mean rapidly. They stopped all meds (including the radiation) except to keep her comfortable. Changed the morphine to a morphine drip yesterday - and upped the dosage twice while I was there. I'll be surprised if she makes it to the new year - and for her sake hopes she doesn't. She's ready. But some part of her is holding on. So, hopefully she lets go now soon.

SO, so sorry to hear about Jean... Hope she goes peacefully. Does she have family there? (Does she have kids?) You have been such a great friend for her! I know you will miss her terribly! We all will miss her here too...

A rainy day here today. Took a shift for today for one of the girls at work so will be working all day. Yesterday, I got off work early and drove up into the mountains to Idyllwilde, a beautiful little mountain town. What a beautiful drive!! Definately have to go back there and spend some more time! Cutest little shops all over! Went from there down to Palm Desert (in the dark! Scary drive down the windy switchbacks!) to go to the zoo to see their Wild Lights Christmas display. Very pretty! Tons of lights everywhere! Really cool! Took lots of photos yesterday so will go thru them and post them tonight. Really do need to get a GPS to save me time and gas, since I keep getting lost!!! Took a wrong freeway exit last night coming back and ended up way out of my way and took me almost an extra hour coming home!!

Gotta get ready for work...have a great day, stay warm and dry

GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!!!

Need to be having a talk with my friend in ME!! The self proclaimed "Snow Witch". I have probably 2 inches of snow outside my door right now and it's still coming down!!! Found a note on the keyboard this morning when I stumbled out of the bedroom from Kelly and it had one word on the note in cap letters, "SNOW". Kelly's not impressed!   ;) When I took Shade out to do her business she was absolutely ecstatic. Good grief that silly dog acted like a pup and went nuts. Jumped the cat from next door and bowled her over trying to get the cat to play with her in the snow. Shade took her self a nice rolling snow bath of course and then started plowing her nose into it and eating the snow. Wish the heck I had had the camera! I do have some pictures of the snow as when I took her in I woke Kelly up (grrr, grumble, growl) and asked her where the camera was and I went back out to take pix. Did manage to get some of Shade dusted with snow and looking like a speckled black blob! Dang it's hard to get good pix of black dogs!

Sure the heck ain't gonna be anything interesting going on here today. Tho I might run to the store and pick up carrots. Never did that yesterday and I really want to do up that beef roast. YUM For tonight I just might have a bowl of soup with bread and butter. Sounds pretty yummy to me right about now. Hmmm, might have toasted cheese sandwiches instead?? That way Kelly can fix our supper!!!

Beth, holding thoughts of Jean, David, Mandy and YOU close to my heart and sending prayers and strength.

Ok, off here for now, gonna go do some reading to catch up. Have a good day everyone and for goodness sake everyone be safe.

Love to all

ps. Soos!!! I absolutely love the pond and mist pic. That was beautiful!

Awww, Beth. :( Has everyone close to her told her good-bye and that it's okay for her to let go? I know that it was important for us kids to do that with our mom. The hospice social worker encouraged us all to do that, and since I was at school I called her and told her. She died later that evening -- actually, right after my brother left her. We all think that she was waiting for him to leave because she didn't want him to actually see the end.

I'll be praying for those of you supporting her, Beth. I think it's really harder on you all than it is on her at this point.

couldn't get on the internet this morning, so played a few games, went to the
bank, the store, and did a few other chores. Now, its almost noon and here
I am. Its really really cold out and the cold makes me move real slow. Enjoy
your day and I hope somebody at least gets some nice weather today.

For those asking - Yes, Jean is being told it's okay to let go. And more so now that David, Mandy and the baby have been to see her. Somehow, she still seems to think something is being done to "keep" her alive. We have been doing all we can (dr included last night) to let her know that isn't the case. All she's getting are meds to hopefully keep her comfortable. Is up to her to let go now.

Thanks for caring. On my way over there again in a few minutes. Will tell her again - whether she's awake or not - hopefully she'll hear it and let go. We know she heard us yesterday - just don't know what she thinks is being done to stop her. Trying to figure that out so we can take that thought away from her.

From what I've observed in my time here on Earth, it is as difficult to take one's last breath as it is to take one's first breath. And those doing the watching, in both instances, seem to suffer the most. This poem which I have carried in my wallet for as long as I can remember has always been a comfort to me when I have had to lose a loved one. Maybe you, Beth and her other friends and family can find some comfort in it, too.

The Death-Bed
by Thomas Hood

We watched her breathing through the night
Her breathing soft and low,
As in her breast the wave of life
Kept heaving to and fro.

So silently we seemed to speak,
So slowly moved about,
As we had lent her half our powers
To eke her living out.

Our very hopes belied our fears,
Our fears our hopes belied --
We thought her dying when she slept,
And sleeping when she died.

For when the morn came dim and sad,
And chill with early showers,
Her quiet eyelids closed -- she had.
Another morn than ours.

Peace to you, my friend Jean, whom, sadly, I will not get to meet.

I was with my mom when she passed. It was a very bittersweet moment, but I wouldn't have wanted to miss it. My dad insisted on being there that day, but I knew she wouldn't want him there when she passed (she was in a light coma), so when he left to go home for lunch, I told her he was gone and she could feel free to let go and move into the light. I held her hand and she passed 5 minutes later, so I know she heard me. It was a sad time, but also a feeling of relief since she was no longer suffering. I have "seen" her and felt her presence many times since then, so I know she is happy and doing well now, and still with me. When I take road trips, I talk to her and point out beautiful scenery and things, just like I did when we took trips together. I never feel like I am traveling alone. She loved road trips, so I know she goes along with me still. (Beth, Jean might just tag along with you now on your travels!)

Believe me, she'll be talking loudly if I don't get my butt back to Baja again soon. Promised her. :)
