CHILLY, BREEZY THURSDAY

Good morning everyone,
A breezy chilly mornng here in northern Michigan. Temp around 40 with a light rain. May see a few snow flakes according to weather forecast, but no big deal. Winds are dropping off, I still have my power, so all's well here. Number of schools are closed up north here and lots of people without power. Power company is bringing in crews from downstate to help restore power. So I am very lucky indeed. This power thing reminded me that I need a new battery operated lantern as my others are no longer any good and I threw them out this summer. They come in handy in case power goes out this time of year when nights are longer. Any long term power outage and I have kerosene lamps and lamp oil in the basement.
Hope Soos was able to get that tooth fixed.
My plans for this morning at least are to head into town (you get the drift I like to head into town), go to bank, WalMart and wherever else I decide to stop. May even hit the sporting goods place and check on lanterns.
Got a heads up from one of my co workers the other day. Apparently she and one of the others got a letter from the State Unemployment folks stating that they have to attend this session on November 12th for 3 1/2 hours at Michigan Works (that's out job placement agency for unemployed workers) to learn how to better themselves when looking for work. Wondered if I had gotten one. Not yet. Sheeeesh, we need that like a hole in the head. All of us are going back to the park in April, George is 70, he works cause he wants to, I'm getting ready to retire and maybe work part time and Mary is happy at the park, so why should we have to learn how to look for work! Although we know we have jobs waiting baring anyhing unforseen, the stae only looks at the immediate 120 days after you apply and since we don't have a definite starting date, we can't state that and it doesn't falll into that 120 days anyway. And if we don't go, then it can affect our unemployment. GRRRRR>>>>>>

Very windy and chilly here today, too, Sue----at 47 degrees.
Don't you just love government absurdities, like the course on how to better yourself?? ACK!!
I am in a hurry as I have a dentist appointment to get my broken tooth fixed this morning, I hope. It's the dentist who made my bridge a number of years ago, and one of the teeth it attaches to is the broken one. He was my dentist for years when I loved on the other side of the mountain, so he knows my mouth and my wishes very well! I am very indebted to him for fitting me into his busy schedule today.
Sorry to hurry----will check back later. I have to meet the alarm system guy back here by 2:00 as he is bringing me the remote contoler for that and I have a couple of questions for him.
Coffee is hot, weather is cool-----happy Thursday. I'm off to see the wizard....

Morning, Sue! Glad your weather is tapering off and hope they get power restored to those who lost it. Not fun if you need it for heat and cooking.
I've had another sleepless night. Comes from napping during the day, I guess.
Yesterday was the first I'd been out of the house since last Saturday. I'm finally over whatever I had. I'm calling it a touch of stomach flu as it lasted too long to be food poisoning. It hit hard Monday AM, by Tuesday I was iffy and yesterday I felt pretty good and finally took the dog for a walk, poor guy. I even went and post-bowled my 3 games that I missed on Tues, then got a few groceries. Amazing that a few days of being sick can zap your reserves. After I bowled I was shaky and sweaty. I came home, showered, ate and pretty much hit the sofa.
Nothing on the agenda for today. Hope everyone is well. Travel safe!

Still in bed and already got a few things accomplished! Called my boss to have her fax a letter to the apartment manager stating my hours and income. Went on-line to do a change of address for my mail and called the post office back in MN to let them know that was done (they only hold my mail for 30 days and that is almost up, so wanted to be sure they knew). Called my dad. He said it is only 31 degrees there this morning! They had 6 inches of snow up in Duluth yesterday! He had 60+ mph winds the other day there! Luckily no damage tho. It is sunny and in the 70's here!
I forgot that my current roommate was leaving this morning for a week long trip. I told her I would feed the dog and cat every day while she is gone and bring in the mail. Will have to stop by each day to do that since I am moving to my new apartment tomorrow. I am going to start loading up my car later on today after doing laundry. I may go rummage saling to find some furniture for my room (night stand, dresser, TV stand, etc). Can't spend too much money right now until I get working next week.
Hope you all have a safe, fun and productive day!

Glad you found a nice place to live, Barbie. Does the present roommate know you're moving out yet....how'd that conversation go?
I had another appt. postponed until next week (mammogram) so nothing scheduled today. I'm afraid I'm frittering the day away, not doing much of anything. I did put a few things in the RV for camping tomorrow though. I have to drive to Tampa for my Moffitt Cancer Ctr checkups tomorrow, so will get home late afternoon and have to rush around to get off to the cg. The best laid plans of mice and men....etc.
Hope your dental appt. goes well and he can get you all fixed up for you to leave. My dentist appt. was yesterday...just a cleaning.
Thankful you weathered the storm, Sue. And all others who were in its path as well. It's another hot (90s) day here in FL; I even had to turn on the AC to get rid of the humidity. It's supposed to be cooler for the weekend though, so should be good for camping.
Happy day to all.

Is another windy day here at the campground in central Texas. Still working on getting paperwork scanned into the computer and shredding it, exchanging summer for winter clothes and in general doing Fall things. Got an e-mail from my friend in Paradise, AZ where I am going to house sit and she told me to expect snow while I am there the next 2 weeks. So guess I'll get my long handles out and put them in them in the luggage along with my lined hiking boots. Dang don't have my parka and don't know where it is in the storage unit!!!! Well, layer, layer, layer I guess.
Hope Soos is just about ready to hookem up and headem out. Ya know once you make that trip, Soos, you will wonder what your were thinking about being 'up tight'. Piece of cake. It is like driving to the lake, only the lake is 200 miles further down the road. Piece of cake. I can say that because my first trip pulling my TT, I am saying to myself driving down I-35, "What in the world am I doing? I have never towed anything in my life." Just went slow and stayed in the middle lane of traffic. In Texas merging traffic has the right of way....so I didn't want to have to figure out how far those folks were behind me so I stayed in the middle lane. Piece of cake Soos after all the experiences you have lived through out your life, this is the icing. You can do it, don't stress yourself out. Hope your dentist fixed your tooth for you today.
Sue, glad you had the higher powers clear the leaves out of your yard.
Liz, sorry to hear that your start out to the cg will be delayed. Be safe your spot will still be there.
Ali, sorry to hear about your mh troubles. Glad that you were close by to your main repairman. Good luck on things turning out quick, easy, cheap, then you can continue with the rest of your life.
All be safe on the road, have fun at your stopping place.
