GOOD MORNING ALL!

Nine miners up and safe, with number ten on the way as I type! I have been fascinated to intermittently watch the rescue of the miners all night long, as I stayed up to see the first guy step out of that rescue cage. What an exciting time for all those families to finally hug their men! The guys who have been involved in the engineering and design of the rescue equipment need a medal and recognition forever in the annals of mining rescue. What a joyously happy morning this is! The equipment is simple, almost primitive, but has to be exact for it to do the job and fit up and down that shaft they drilled. Many things they had to think about as the miners come up a half mile from the bowels of the earth into the daylight.

It's only 25 degrees F. in my yard this morning, and was 50 in the trailer....didn't feel cold in my sleeping bag with Molly curled up against me, but nippy when I got up! The wood fire had died down in here, so my Monitor heater was cranking when I got inside. I am building up the wood fire again now, and it's feeling mighty good!

I think today I will try to stow all my stuff in the trailer for traveling, keeping the cooking stuff we might need accessible, and some clothes and shoes. I will try putting the canoe inside and my bicycle, to see if it's possible to travel with those two items and still have room enough to get to the beds to sleep and the kitchen area to cook some meals. I took out all my canned goods (I had already eliminated most of them anyway) this morning to lighten my load. I plan to travel with just jugs of water and none in the tanks to make driving easier and lighter. We can use rest rooms along the way whenever possible, and perhaps some campground showers when we get further south. I have a portable toilet in there, too, which can be taken apart and dumped in any restroom along the way....easier than looking for a dumping area and driving with a tankful of 'stuff.!'

I also need to learn a method for running my generator without unhitching, if possible. My generator is too heavy for me to lift out of the truck bed, and the tailgate door doesn't open all the way when I am hitched. I may have to change to my smaller generator and leave this larger one here, although, the larger one will run my AC if it gets unbearably hot somewhere and the smaller Honda will not run it. Just another puzzle to solve, and I am usually good at puzzles. (Other than acronyms!)

Wood fire is putting out some good heat now, cofffee is hot, so stop in and tell us what is on your list for today. Miner number ten is almost up now, so I will go watch this reunion! Three cheers for the rescue!

Good Morning from a drop of rain Normal... woke up to 55 will only be in the mid 60s today... we need the rain so very badly but I needed to have my electric checked out in the old MH could not get it to work... well maybe it will let up later today as we are leaving at 7 am tomorrow to head for Greenwood just south of Indianapolis to pick up Bright Hope ...

Have been thinking of the foam mattress but may get something like an aero-bed instead have to check things out... my twins in MI have a queen sized and they love it has a nice thick top... and you can use it like a sleep number by adjusting the air... I think that may be a bit cooler and will come in handy when company comes... but then I may take the queen sized mattress off my hide a bed it is 5 in thick... plans plans and choices so many...

The old MH is all cleaned and vacuumed and wiped down there was so much shadow hair all over... did not get the basement vacuumed as that was a chore for today... it may not get done with this rain... I have so many lists of what I need... whew

I took Shadow to the groomers yesterday afternoon... he has never been there as I normally do it myself but my body and time did not permit at this time... I got the deluxe treatment nails and all and glands ears... they said some cut their dogs down to the skin I said NO it would not grow back right... so they used the Firminator he looks 2 lbs lighter with is new clean body... he did not like the bath (does not at home either), did not like the blower (never use a blower at home) why do you think he is Shadow maybe scared of his shadow; so they put him in one of those pens where they dry them some other way... his appointment lasted 3 hours... ah ah dog beauty shop...

Yes Soos I also watched the miners being rescued and turned the TV on during the night also... now I do not have it on as I have way to much to do... sort and sort some more... get gas in the MH etc...
Soos beautiful frosty pictures... time to head south...

sending smiles to everyone,
Kathleen

Good morning. My accomplishment for the day was to register for the FL gtg.....will head off shortly to pick up Ellen (SM) to take her to get her new glasses and to the grocery store for supplies. She pays for three meals a day but I doubt that she is going for more than 1-2. She doesn't like to get dressed that early in the morning...and at 89 it isn't that old habits are hard to break it is that "HER WAY IS THE RIGHT WAY...."

Taking a break from car shopping. Really liked the new Ford Fiestas...they were fun to drive...cargo space less that Fit but mileage better. Seats in back are tight but I can count on one maybe two hands how often someone rides back there...usually ME! The dogs would be just fine. The current KIA will still be here and available for four passangers if needed in Ohio......and does very comfortably. In the area of sedans I like the Elantra or Accents. They drive very well, have an excellent warrenty, have a decent reputation and cost less money than the others. So now I just sit with my thoughts awhile.....and let things ferment... There are deals to be had on the Elantra and I would end up paying less...?

Regarding the chilean miners...I do keep thinking about the individual's post regarding the number of miners that had both wives and mistresses show up at the rescue site  I'm thinking that those welcome backs might then turn into some serious discussions

I think you are right, Tina!! Another layer for some of them to have to deal with. #17 just came up as I type. This is the third mine disaster he's been in and the man hated being under ground, so I'm thinking he's gonna retire. Said he's a father, grandfather and great grandfather. Time to retire, I think. ;)

In the 30s this AM, suppose to get to 70 again today. Beautiful Fall weather here in the PNW. Wish it could stay like this all year round. Late yesterday afternoon I attended my 8 yr old GDs soccer game. The 10 yr old has hers this afternoon. I popped kettle corn and took that to munch on as we watched. Good times, great memories!

Kathleen, I'm excited for you to pick up your rig. Safe travels!

OK, need some breakfast!

Good morning!

Woke up early and just realized I have been on the computer for almost 3 hours already. Oh where, does the time go?

I did post a new pictorial blog on Ali's Page. You can use the link below to see all about "A Day with Max." I was excited to find out with Windows 7 I can upload all the pictures I want in the blog post at one time instead of 5 at a time. Now I want to do another post but Ron wants to get ready to go to Moscow, ID and Pullman, WA for the day. We are going to do some sightseeing and then take a friend out for dinner. Ben is our pastor's son and is going to school at WSU. We enjoy his company and thought he would enjoy dinner out instead of the dining hall.

It was 51' in the motor home this morning. Turned on the furnace to take the chill off. Also helped to snuggle with the blanket while on the computer.

Don't forget to check out my blog post. Wishing every one a great day! Talk to you all again soon.
