COLUMBUS DAY 2010

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

COLUMBUS DAY 2010

Postby Nasoosie » Mon Oct 11, 2010 7:18 am

GOOD MORNING ALL!

The kids just left after a weekend of massive amounts of work! I feel so much better this morning to know that the stuff I needed help with finally is done! My cellar hasn't looked this good since the flood down there when a massive spring thaw backed up under the cellar door and flooded everything. (We have since bermed the runoff alley, so the water now runs into the back yard.) Mandy and I made a 'camping section' where all my tents and stoves and more are now stored on shelves that are out of the way of Wiley's proposed construction job to insulate the front block walls. There is still much to sort out in her own bedroom down there, but that is a job for another time. There is a huge walk-in closet down there that could be really neat for storing bedding of all sorts, along with clothing.

I got the back field mowed yesterday, the old trailer parked in the shelter for the winter (after much swearing, aborted attempts, threats to never haul anything again in my life, patience from my helpers) so that was a biggie. We got the paddleboat covered, the leanto sewed up for the winter, pond canoe stowed on the cabin porch, and porch chair cushions stowed inside. All is well at the pond!

Sue called again last night, and is definitely planning to come with me to FL! Today I will call Capital One and find out how to enlist the use of my almost 23,000 travel miles to buy a one-way ticket for her from Orlando to Syracuse. She can store her car there in the yard of another friend of mine who lives 5 minutes from the airport. She will meet me there on one of the last days of this month, and on we will go! The only part of the drive I will make alone is the one from here to Syracuse via Watertown, which I have done many times in my truck. I will gas up in Watertown at a station I know, and then it's just a hop to Syracuse and my friend's house.

Tomorrow I will take my truck for its first oil change and checkup, and I want them to inspect it again, too, so I don't have to hurry back here to get it done in April when it's again due now. If April weather is still muddy here, I will wait to come home! I will fill up my empty propane tank tomorrow, also.

Thursday I sub for someone in the elementary school, Saturday is the wedding I need to attend, and then my schedule is basically done but for packing and stowing and making the trailer usable for overnight staying. I need to investigate more campgrounds and make some reservations in the ones I have stayed at in years gone by, right off I 95.

I am getting a bit excited now, knowing I will have someone sitting next to me with another set of eyes to watch for signs, etc.! FL here we come!

Thanks for the coffee, Carol! Hope to hear from many today as they rise and shine! Happy Columbus Day! (Wretched man that he was!)
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

I finally spent a few hours working on cleaning carpet - what a waste of my time. The cleaner my sis has works well on cleaning spots. So I have round "spots" cleaned. The area I did took forever, and looks worse now than before I started. So I quit. Will look into renting a machine - but last person I know who did that and tried to do their ceiling, made a real mess out of it. Wonder if I could paint the carpet on the ceiling (just kidding, but wish I wasn't!) The other choice is having someone come in. There was a service that was cleaning rv carpets, including ceilings at one of the rallies I went to. Price was good for a big rv, but they only had one price, and it was high for my little rv.

Oh well. I'll put my area rugs back down and the worst of this floor is covered. And if you come in - don't look UP. LOL

Hope everyone has a great day. It seems we'll have another 2 days of warm weather before the cold comes back in up here. After the cold comes back, I'll be looking forward to heading south again. Meantime, am enjoying being here. Just let's not let them have a super early snow.

Good Morning... it was in the very low 60s maybe even 60 early but I had to go back to bed and close my eyes a bit more... today will be another mid 80s day... beautiful but very dry...
YEA YEA YEA FOR SOOS aren't kids wonderful... I am so glad you had help to get the chores behind you that helps so much... now you can focus on FLORIDA...
I will wipe things down and vacuum in the old MH... getting ready to pick up BRIGHT HOPE on Thursday... I will still not leave until the first part of November... have a friend in TN that I want to visit for a couple of days and maybe another along the way...
My place here is a real mess I had a bug all last week and did not get much done... believe it or not the sink is full of dishes and I have a dish washer but did not take the clean ones out... today must get in gear... I have a fan in the window and with the dry dry weather the dust blows in and all the dusting was for naught...
I hope Cedar is sleeping better in her good bed...
Has anyone bought a foam cushion for their bed? How do they hold up and how is sleeping on them... what is the fan that I have heard people talk about that is in place of the ceiling vent... would like to know will also look in Tech issues for those answers...
I hope you all are traveling safe and having a good time...
Sure do think that Scamp is cute...

Well, if I hurry, I may get this posted on morning time. So much to do here, and haven't really started anything yet. Big problem this morning was I woke up about 3;30 and could not go back to sleep. Finaly got up few mins. after 4. Do I have to add that about 7, I was feeling tired  :? So leaned back in my recliner and got a few more ZZZZZ's, until the dogs across the road started chasing vehicles on the road. Everyone who lives on the side of the mountain on the back roads, has to pass by here and they all hate those dogs. The family are really nice people, they just don't listen about the nusiance their dogs are to everyone. Enough of that !!!

I have almost finished putting my pictures in albums. Now this is a REAL headline, because they have been laying on my two card tables since LAST SPRING! in the middle of my livingroom. I have a few laid out to put in today and label, and I will be putting my tables A WAY !! Hey LIz, Roe and Maggie will have a place to run now !!!!  If I do nothing else, that will be done !!

I need to get up and moving, have been here for awhile, had to check out what you all have been up too. Found one VERY HAPPY Sistah here, Kathleen, got her new to her Rig. What a Find too, I really like what I saw in the pictures. Anxious to see it in person. Be prepared for a bunch of nosey women to want to see it. Hopefully it will be a nice dry ground day, where not to much tracking in is done

Soos, Wow, lady when things happen at your house they REALLY happen. Your to do list must be about done isn't it? I'm so glad everything is falling in to place for you, especially the friend to travel down with you. You're going to have a great trip and I'm so excited and anxious to hear all about it. So when are you heading south?

Beth, I promise not to look up :) My neck doesn't like to do that anyway, right now.

Have a Great Day everyone. Those traveling and on the roads, stay safe !!
CArol
Kathleen and I tried to post at the same time, I THINK. So if I submit again and end up with two of the same post, I did something wrong,

good morning ladies
feels weird to have a holiday and not be working, but it definately feels good! and the weather is nice. Did
some yard cleanup yesterday, threw some stuff away and swept the patio. I also did a little organizing and
made a list of stuff to sell at a yard sale. Thought I had gotten rid of everything I didn't need but I've
discovered I still have STUFF! :? Will drag out the garden hose and hose things down today, clean all the
dust off the propane bottles and get them ready for refil thursday.
Off to catch up on a few more posts, everyone be safe and enjoy your holiday.

Hi gals! We finally made it across Nebraska and Wyoming and are now in Salt Lake City staying with a friend of Linda's. We are having a great time and so far no major problems. The only small problem we had was on Saturday going thru Wyoming when Linda's awning started to come undone (it was really windy!) so she pulled over to fix it but ended up having to duct tape it together Meanwhile, a highway patrol stopped to see what was wrong. He was really cute!! It was probably a blessing that Linda pulled over when she did because someone elses awning blew off and landed on the highway just a little ways in front of us and the highway patrol was out looking for it and thought we lost one. When he left, we saw him pull over just down the road and pull the awning off the road. So Linda probably would have hit it if she had kept going! I did get photos of her crawling on top of the RV and of the HP, so will post those when I get more time.

My car is running good but I am spending more money than I should be :( . Gotta be careful on the rest of the trip with that.

We are going to try to meet up with Snowball (Sheila) before we leave here, and then try to get together with Getupngo (Janice) on Wednesday in St George before heading into Las Vegas.

Weather has been good other than the wind. We got a little rain overnight on Saturday night but otherwise we seemed to have missed all the storms to our north and south.

Have a great day! I haven't had a chance to read the forum much so don't know what all is going on but hoping everyone is safe and happy!

Yes, thanks for checking in, Barbie. Happy to hear all is going well. Kinda scary with the awning. Glad that didn't turn into an event! :o

Yesterday I unloaded and cleaned out Little Missy, then took her to get gas, then back to the storage place to dump the tanks and park her. As I was driving her home on Saturday (remember it was raining and somewhat windy), something in me just clicked and I thought, "I'm really enjoying driving her"! In fact I almost didn't come home but wanted to keep driving. Not sure where I would have went to, but anywhere is good, right? Anyway, I'm washing bedding and will take that back out to the rig later this week. If our Fall holds I will definately take her out again before winterizing.
Any lady lurkers out there that live in SW WA? Join us and lets get together!!
