FRIGID TUESDAY

GOOD MORNING AT 24 DEGREES F.!
Barbzeeee-----I am still looking for you in the mornings! Should I wait longer to post in the kitchen? I would so love to have the table all set and the coffee hot and a pretty picture from you to begin the days!
It was already down to 30 last night by the time I got into bed. I started to stay in the trailer, realized I had a nice warm woodfire in the house , so came back in to sleep inside. Molly was ecstatic, as she has a bed next to the woodstove!
My friend, Kathy's, final diagnosis is in-----She wrote, "It is clinical stage III non-small cell carcinoma of the right lung. The PET scan also picked up something going on with a lymph node just above my heart." So far, she seems to be taking this one day at a time, and will see the thoracic surgeon this morning and the cancer treatment lady this afternoon. I so wish she could talk with our own friend, Sparkle, about what to expect as she begins this battle. Jean, you NEED to stay strong now in your battle, to get able to help others like my friend. If you roll over now and refuse to build your strength back up so you can help, I will REALLY kick you in the butt!!
Anyway, my birthmothers' group is pulling together for her, I told her she needs to give the creature that is compromising her body a name so we can all curse it, as we have done with Gilbert. I also told her I would be 'dabbling in witchcraft' to borrow a term from some lady running for some office! One thing I made sure to tell her is that we all will pull together if we can share both the happy times and the weepy times and the angry times and the dancing times with her. There will be no retreating into herself and closed-mouthness----we are going to laugh and cry with her, so we can celebrate together after the battle. There is real strength in many souls pulling together. We in this birthmom group have shared much pathos and much happiness over the 30+ years we have been together, and we know what works!
Ok now---on to other things. The sun is out, the sky is cloudless, an old college dorm suite-mate and classmate of mine called last night and she will visit me October 4th for a few days, I am excited----it's been many years since I saw her up here last when we stayed in my leanto one summer.
I have passed up two possibilites for subbing these past two weeks, and I need to call the school offices and let them know I need to know the night before if I am to work-----this last minute call at pre-dawn times won't cut it for me any more! If there is a real emergency, and they can find no one else, I would consider coming in, but I would like to be a person who knows in advance of an upcoming work date. And that's that.
Coffee is hot, so stop in and let us know what's up in your world. I will vacuum the cellar today in hopes that the alarm system guy will call me back and come to install my system. I called and left a message yesterday, but got no call back.
Happy Tuesday to us all!
