FANTASTIC FRIDAY!

GOOD MORNING TO US ALL!
I was hoping to find a report from Mary, a friend from the ORS group, as she was fleeing a forest fire last night----had to leave the chatroom early when the sherrif suggested she leave the timber area and go down into the valley for the night. The fire was only 25 miles south of her at that point! She was all packed with her irreplacables, gassed up, and was ready to haul as soon as any sirens sounded. I guess she has been through this before where she lives. The sherrif, rather than the siren, brought her to action, and off she went. I am anxioulsy awaiting some news from her today.
Also, Liz is at a repair station today, waiting to see how much damage might have been done to her transmission after her stuck accelerator incident yesterday. I am waiting for some news from her, too, as I am so hoping she can continue her trip north so I can meet up with her. I know those girls will both check in with us as soon as they are able.
The sun is coming out nice and bright this morning as the morning fog burns off. Forecast is for great weather now for abut a week----hot and sunny! I will take a few items to the leanto today and Molly and I will move in down there for a few days, or until the weather forces us back here. I had one week of vacation ('down' time) so far this summer, at the bluegrass festival, and now this will be another week away from all the work I need to do before I head south. I'll take crossword puzzles, some books I never have time to read, bail out the paddleboat, bring my canoe down there, and gather some dry firewood. I'll take some pics, too, and post them when I can.
I spent our rainy day in the house again yesterday, going through and sorting 'stuff,' so I am ready for being outside today! Coffee is ready for me now, as it's been the required half hour after my Fossamax, and there is plenty to go around. Stop by and tell us about your plans and whatever. Happy Friday!!

Blue Friday
This view is from yesterday morning on the Blue Ridge.
Blue, but not sad. I am safe. They are working on my rig now: good news, bad news.
The good news is my transmission is fine. They will change the fluid though due to the strain put on it yesterday.
The bad news is that something in the back end is messed up. He brought me broken parts that was causing the noise when I tried to drive. He's looking for parts now and depending on what he finds, may still be able to fix it today. He'll also check the brakes and make sure they're ok after the heavy braking I did.
I'll keep you posted.
Sorry to hear about Mary's fire & evacuation. Praying all will be well there.

Good to hear this, Liz! So glad you and Roe are already up and about, and that the garage is on the job! Yes, the fact that you to are safe is what really counts in this saga! And I can't imagine the terror going on when that happened to you----you really acted to save an accident and your lives, probably! It has been a lesson for me, and I need to think of what I would do if it ever happens to me. Being in the mountains with ups and downs is far different from being on the desert flats, I would imagine. Just what does one do in that situation of a stuck accelerator?
Very good news that your transmission is still good!
Now let's just hope the garage can find the appropriate parts to get you up and running again, without costing an arm and a leg! I'll be thinking of you today as I go about my stuff!

Liked the good news this morning......hope the balance of the day works everything out and the wheels are good to go. Am heading off to pick up the step mother and take her over to see the new (but still empty empty) apt. She called yesterday evening while I was trying to kayak with wiggly Stuart to tell me that she had found out that the place doesn't provide her any "chairs" for the kitchen island....
Well no they don't.....at least after hearing a couple of her questions the folks will understand why I want her in assisted living arrangement and not left on her own.....I just hope that since they are "in the business" they will have the patience and understanding to smile as they explain the place and their program to her once again..... Stuart has kayaking picture but hasn't given them to Herschel yet to post for him..... We don't trust Stuart on the internet.....way too distractable. If he started surfing the net we would never get him off the "squirrel" sites.
Hoping for everyone to have good adventure, brakes that work and lower gas prices! Grab the camera and remember to report back in. It won't be long until Sept!

Glad to hear the transmission is ok and hopefully the other problems will be a easy fix. Hopefully you will be on the road very soon.
It was 55 here this morning but warming up fairly quickly. After this summer I thought cooler temps were a thing of the past. I love cool crisp mornings.
Enjoy your camp out in the lean to Soos.
Safe journeys to all on the road.

Good Morning! Liz, hopefully they'll be able to find your parts so you can get back on the road today.
Stuart, maybe if you give Herschel a little nip, he'll get your pics posted, just don't let the GHL see ya!
I just counted, we've got 13 "sleeps" till leaving for the AR GTG!!!!!
Today I'll take a picture of the wires connected to the battery in the TH and remove that and go get another one. This one won't hold a charge any longer, won't even start the geny. Another thing to be checked off my list in preparation to go have a fun, relaxing time in what I hope to be cooler climate.

Mechanic is not able to get the parts needed until Tuesday. (On edit, make that Wednesday
)
So Carol is going to come get me and the pets and take us to her house in Murphy (2 hours away) to wait until it is fixed. It's going to be a major repair ($$$$.$$), so I will not continue my trip to NE this year.
Carol has invited me to stay there and go with her to the gtg in Arkansas in September, so I may do that before returning to Florida. FL is really still too hot for me.
Anyway, Praise God I am safe.
I will continue to post to my blog soon.
Liz

Still haven't read much about what happened to you Liz, other than your accelerator stuck. Scary stuff indeed, but parts can be replaced, lives can't. Soooo glad that you and the fur kids are here to tell the tale.....a good campfire story?
ON EDIT: Finally found the story....Yikes! Lesson for us all!

Oh Liz I am so sorry it is going to be a costly repair. I am glad you are ok though like others have said, that is the most important thing. Sounds like the trip to the NE just wasn't meant to be at this time. Hopefully you will decide on coming to the Arkansas GTG with Carol.

Just now getting on the forum. Sorry to hear about your near mishap, Liz. Gosh, that had to add a few more gray hairs!
PTL you are safe and are able to get the repairs needed. Sorry it cut your vacation short, but it seems everyone is very excited that you may attend the ARK GTG.
Keep us posted. Glad you and Carol had each other for your RV events.....
Kathleen, let us know how your Dr appt goes. Hope things are getting better.
Soos, looking forward to hearing about your nights in the lean to.
Nothing new to report here today. Beautiful sun, cool breeze. Had a meeting with my finance guy and found out he going on to further his education and was introduced to the gal taking his place. She seems competent, guess I'll find out.
After that I got groceries, came home and ate lunch. Ahhh what an exciting life I lead!

Liz, sorry to hear it will take so long to fix your motorhome. I am hoping I can make it home to get my heat shield fixed. I have enough trouble finding a place to get something fixed at home so don't want to go through that here. I thought about going to the factory in Florida but it is below Tampa. I would be 2 weeks geting home.
My son's retirement ceremony was this afternon. They really go all out and it was nice to hear all the good things they said about him. They had me pin his retirement pin on his lapel. There was someone taking pictures so hopefully I will get some.

It's amazing how southern women start having children so young.....
