Sunday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunday Morning

Postby cpatinjones » Sun Aug 08, 2010 10:29 am

Good Morning,

Wow, I am the first one in the Morning Coffee area. :D

I have had two cups of coffee this morning. It is going to be a hot day, but I will be inside. It is my weekend to sit with my 93 year old dad.

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning all!

I don't usually post here because I'm usually on the run in the morning. But I just have to tell you what I'm going to do today ... :)

I'm going geocaching! For those of you who don't know what it is, google "geocaching.com" and see what you find. It's a great activity. I'm going with about 7 other people -- not usually the way one geocaches -- but it's going to be a great way to enjoy being outdoors today. We'll be at the beach, and it's going to be downright chilly. So far this summer the weather has been unseasonably cool for So. California. Not complaining, and I know that we'll get our share of hot before too long. But it's unusual to have to think about taking a jacket to the beach in August!

Well, I'll let you know how many caches we find today. I need 7 more to hit #300, so wish me luck!

Slept in this morning but still tired. Was awake part of the night trying to figure out what all I still need to do yet before moving, when, how and with whom I will be traveling, etc. I have SO much to do and time is flying by!
It is going to be a hot, sticky one outside today so will spend the day inside getting stuff done...
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Trying to figure out what to do today. We were planning a hike and BBQ, but the weather is yucky. Our exchange student will leave Wed, morning...so I wanted this weekend to be special and do some fun things. Yesterday we went to Mall, Toy Story 3 and then dinner and church.

I thinking crafty indoor things. Have her make her own journal. Show her some scrapbooking stuff???

When I was telling DH last night..."proof that the man does not hear my first sentence".
I am trying to think of somethings to do with Yuka, tomorrow. Do you have any thoughts of what we could do tomorrow?

DH: We could load up the truck with the recycling and go to RDS and then do some catch up on the laundry.

ME: Honey..I really do not think that OUR EXCHANGE STUDENT wants to go to the dump and recycle center???

DH: Oh I was talking about me.

Laura...when we went on the great American Campout in June at the Navy Base. They had the GPS units and had class on geocatching. It was a lot of fun. So now I am saving up for a decent unit. Hopefully by next spring we will be all set to start.

Hi Laura,

Jacket weather sounds good to me right now, it's about 100 here. Have fun geocaching. I can't find something I just put down in my house so don't know how good I would be at that.

Still morning here in the beautiful PNW. Having my 2nd cup of java and see the sun has burned off the marine layer and is shining nicely.
Yesterday was so weird weatherwise. It was cloudy and very humid. Looked like we should have gotten a good t-storm, but actually only a couple sprinkles.

Yesterday my neighbors were doing some yardwork so I went and gave them a hand as they are always more than ready to help me. They are putting borders around their flowerbeds and tree in the front yard. Pretty hard to dig around here as there is so much clay.

Starting to get in the vacation mode as I'll be leaving in a week for CA. Next week will be busy with taking the dog in for his annual checkup/shots and then taking him to the kennels where he'll stay for 9 days. Poor guy is scooting his butt again and he just had anal surgery a few weeks ago! Not sure what the deal is but will take a stool sample in to check for worms and see if that's a possibility. He is still getting over an ear infection, too.

Laura, My GDs went geocaching with friends and are hooked. I have yet to do it but really want to. I doing it with a group would be fun. Our church did something similar to that in that they hid an object and then gave hints on their website. It was a fun church thing to do.

Marda, I see youu posting again and it's good to hear from you. How/where have you been?

Kris, hope you find something fun to do today with your exchange student. NOT going to the dump!

Wish I were on the beach with you and Laura, we're zooming back to the horrid heat and humidity so I'll be doing inside things until it is over, like maybe October at the way it's going.
I've postponed my trip to Michigan until the weather changes I just didn't anticipate a summer this bad, plus all roads north from here to Chicago have major construction projects with terribly long delays and many bad accidents. I would totally freak at being tied up in traffic for hours at any time, much less in weather like we've been having.
I bought a new Breville juicer from Amazon and it does a really good job. Now I just have to learn to make veggie juices that aren't high in sugar.

Weird! Just looked up info on a Breville convection oven mentioned on another forum-had never heard of that brand before and now here it is again. Warm and windy but not humid here in Maine although the clouds are beginning to come in. Just hanging out today, grocery shopping, wash, etc. carold

Well, I found my 300th cache today! :)

We had a blast, socializing more than geocaching, but it was sooo much fun!

For those of you with iPhones, there's an app you can download to geocache using your phone. It's not as accurate as a regular hand-held GPS, but it usually gets you close enough to find the cache with a little extra brainpower. GPS units have come down in price, and you can often find older models for sale that will do the trick. It really is a family-friendly activity and a great way to spend the day with friends. We gabbed the whole time we were looking!

Good job. And you all look like you are having a blast.

I must admit, I went with someone who was doing it - and just didn't enjoy it. Maybe I'll try again another day. Maybe not. I sure know a lot of people who love doing it!
