WARM THURSDAY

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

WARM THURSDAY

Postby Nasoosie » Thu Jul 08, 2010 5:52 am

GOOD MORNING CAMPERS!

Another morning dawns cloudless, hazy, and warm at 67 degrees. No breeze at all out there yet, but sure do hope it comes back as strong as it was yesterday. It feels warmer and more humid today, but I am wondering if it's just the lack of a breeze.

My job for today is to return to the pond and clean, vacuum, and recalk the leanto where the winter's winds have blown the oakum out of the spaces between some of the logs. If I were really ambitious, I would also take my mini-cordless chainsaw, cut down some balsam saplings, peel them with a peeler I have down there, and then nail those between the logs and over the oakum. It is a very messy and sticky job as the balsams have such resinous sap when you peel off the bark. It would be the solution for having to recalk every year, however, as where I have done that with baby balsams in the past, things look very neat and tidy. I may wait for that part of the 'fixin' up' until it's cooler.

I believe I will try once again to go to the DMV and get my enhanced driver's license, as I saved a slip from my last UPS order with a street address on it. With that and my electric company bill with a street address, (you need 2 proofs of where you live) my original birth certificate, my social security number, and whatever else I took with me the last time, including the application in triplicate, maybe I can pay to update my license to allow me to go back and forth to Canada without too much trouble. When I head west again, I will undoubtedly start the trip by heading into Canada and not hitting the U.S. again until Sioux St. Marie. It's much shorter and much nicer than going south around the Great Lakes for me.

I also need to go to the bank to cash my last school salary check. Still no news about the incentive money I was promised---I need to call school about that, too.

Then, if it's cool enough, I can always do some staining on the house! And the firewood needs to get stacked and tidied up. My motion detector lights need to be replaced as lightning zapped them last year. I am afraid it got the circuit to them, however, as the bedroom lights plugged into the same circuit no longer work, either, and trip the breaker down in the cellar. I will leave that to someone who knows what they are doing. I suspect a new wire will have to be run and a new breaker installed, plus, of course, replacing the lights outside themselves. They have been sitting on the porch awaiting replacement for a year now. Getting to them on the outside of the house is no easy chore on a tall ladder.

Meanwhile, I am going to read my email, sip on some coffee, and relax in the shade of my trailer awning. I already let a mouse go that was in my live trap this morning in the house. None have been caught in here, thank goodness.

Stop by and tell us about your day and your plans....we love to know about others!

Good Mornin Soos and all!

Wow, you sure have alot of things planned to do. Good luck with your chores and stay cool. You were a teacher? What grade did you teach, did you just retire and do you miss it? DH is a HS Chem. teacher.

For me, the last day of work for awhile...DH and I are going to relax, try to exercise more, swim, hang out together and just recharge our inner batteries....

Enjoy your day!

No paying work for me today and Herschel is prancing a "happy dance" and he want to go visit his friends. And so he shall along with Remi. After lunch I will take the rig over to Stuart's house and bring my clippers. I told his "girl" that it would be nicer to clip and groom him in air conditioning that her garage  ...and very easy to sweep up. The county dog show it tomorrow and she can do much of the grooming but not the clipper part and then there is the blending part so that it all looks natural. Here is to making him handsome. If I get to stop by the show tomorrow without distracting him I will get some pictures. I love watching the kids and their dogs even in the heat!

Will call the hospital and chek on the SM. As of yesterday they had not announced another release day. Where ever she is come suppertime I will visit her and check in. But today is going to the dogs!    I need to brush Remi up and we are off......

Take care of the dangerous temps if they are hitting your part of the country or if like Soos you are very ambitions and are working real hard on important stuff. Carol keep reading those books..the rest will keep!

Morning,
My house didn't cool down inside until around 3 this morning when it reached 75. (also had a mosquito in the house I couldn't catch!) I then slept a couple hours but needed to get up and shut the house back up as today will reach near the century mark!! Broke a record yesterday. One blessing, if that is what it is, is that our humidity is only at 17%. They said the midwest is around 57! Like Soos's area, we had a good breeze yesterday, but today they said dead calm. But, then again, hot is hot and we have not had any hot days here this year so our blood is still to thick!
So today I'm staying inside as much as possible. In fact I have no need to be out at all! I cancelled a meeting I had for this morning. Left an email earlier.
Ok, I'm rambling as I'm so tired.
Take care everyone!

Good morning !!!
Soos, you describe weather conditions better then any weather person. You certainly have a way with words, and I love reading your morning greetings. I do have a question though, didn't you say few days back that you have leeches in your pond? Maybe I misunderstood, I hope so, but please tell me as I cringe everytime you say you've taken a dip in it What a wonderful way to cool off otherwise and still get your chores done. I used to do that in Fl. in our pool. Always had to check for small snakes each morning though, but I can't imagine, (don't want too) swimming with leeches. Please tell me its not sooo !!!! :o

Laurie, I live on the other side of N.C., in the mt. range. I love it. I have no family living around me, so am considering selling whenever or if ever the market comes back. I don't think I welcomed you to our forum. You made one of the best decisions of your life when you joined these wonderful ladies on here. Hopefully you will make one of the GTG's and meet some of them personally. We had a great GTG in Fl. last Jan. Maybe someone will have another this winter. HINT HINT Fl. people. :) I'm thinking a lot about when I leave here in Sept. eventually ending up in Fl. to visit my sis and daughter and many many friends. I have been home since mid Jan. and thats not me, I am gone more then here, most of the time, so if all is well in Sept. I'm hoping to make up for some of the travels I have missed so far this year. Dreaming, planning, hoping here, along with reading.

Beth, I was teasing yesterday about my a/c problem, but you weren't, what a wonderful friend you are. Thank you!!

A wee concern, I have this morning, when I had my well worked on they put bleach down it to sterilize it, well I have ran water and ran it to get it out. Still stinks
Couldn't stand my hair any longer had to wash it this morning, it was past due a day or so, well, I am praying it doesn't damage my hair anymore then it already is with age. Crossing fingers too, that used to work when I was a little girl :D

Try to stay cool, those who live in areas where A/C is not a usual household appliance, please be especially careful. Those traveling stay safe !!!
I've enjoyed the travelers pix, Carold in Canada, please don't quit your blog, I have never been in that area and have so enjoyed your blog. Also when you went to Spain, last year.
Your travels are great and to places I may never get to, other then your blog, so you can't quit :)

Have a great day everyone, but please stay cool and safe
