SUMMER TUESDAY

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

SUMMER TUESDAY

Postby Nasoosie » Tue Jun 22, 2010 3:51 am

GOOD MORNING TO US ALL!

It's only 41 degrees out there this morning----nippy for the second day of summer, for sure. But it didn't get as low as they had predicted it would, into the mid-30s. I have the heater on in here now, as I forgot and left the big sliding door open last night! I need to take a bath, and would rather not develop icicles when I get out of the tub!

Hope came to the feeding tree last night, and ate a huge meal before clambering up the big red pine at dark. I hope she always stays wary and safe in the trees at night to avoid wolves and coyotes, who cannot climb. She turns 5 months old today.

My comatose girl I have been working with all year failed to show up for her RCT exam yesterday----I suspected she wouldn't. Her mother doesn't give a rap if she gets an education, or not, as she is bringing in the money with her SS disability check each month. Very disappointing to see a person you know could learn to live on her own be coddled and kept like a two-year-old by her mom.

I spent the day in the library on the computer, keeping a secure safe spot for those who had afternoon exams to hang out. I managed to snag a couple of hot dogs for one of my students who had to come on the morning bus, no breakfast, no lunch, (his family is dirt poor, and he counted on free breakfasts and lunches all year, but cafeteria is closed now) to keep him from starving before his afternoon exam. He is such a great kid...one of my favorites.

Gotta run now and get into a tub, then off I go. Hard to believe this is my last week.

Stop by for some coffee and let us know what's up in your world. Happy Tuesday!

Happy travels!

Good Morning All - boy would we love some of your cool weather - in the high 80s here with 78% humidity.
Storm just rolled through here - again - some places got 3 to 4 inches of rain. One dam north of us is breaking up - everything is flooding. There is just no place for the water to go anymore.
Our son and his wife get into the Indy airport this afternoon around 4:30 - I finally figured out how to get there then while watching the "severe weather" news discovered the intersection we have to go through to get there is flooded! and closed! - hopefully now that the rain has moved through it will dry out. BUT there is another storm just getting ready to move into Illinois and it will be here about the time we have to leave. The Driver is not happy about that - also right when we have to be on the road is a soccer game Argentina will be playing (remember he is from Argentina and a former soccer player) - he mentioned hiring a car pick up service - and it was not completely a joke.
Our screen porch is just about done - so nice out there in the evening with the fans going.
Hope everyone has a good day and safe travels.
PLEASE NO MORE RAIN!!!

Good Morning... we have thunder storms here again... strange but last year we lacked rain and the farmers were losing their crops this year they are turning yellow while sitting in water... the news said we need about 10 days without rain to help them... guess we need near perfect weather to get good crops...

My pocket book is much lighter this morning... not only were the breaks bad but the two back tires had dry rot... so now the car runs good and is full of gas... thought I would do the gas run before I came home...

Soos you have made a huge impact on the students you have been with... I am sure you will have sad days when it is time to go back to school... then it will be a few short months and you will be in Florida seeing your son's new home... that should be fun...

Sorry Carol but be prepared for more storms in Indiana... wet spring and summer so far...

Time to get some more coffee and see what the news is... have a great day everyone...

Good morning, everyone. Got the coffee going and having leftover birthday cake for breakfast (!!!!). I'm back at home in SLC for the week. Told the rangers I'm going on a weekends-only schedule while I get my house ready to sell. It's gonna be a big job getting all this STUFF out of here. Geez.

It's primary election day, so I got out early and voted. I had to hold my nose to vote for my current congressman, but his opponent could never win in the fall. So ...

Summer has FINALLY arrived in northern Utah. The guy will come over to fire up my roof swamp cooler tomorrow. So it's kinda swelter time 'til then.

For those of you in the humid East and Midwest, a swamp cooler actually ADDS humidity to the air as it blows water-cooled air into the house. Not quite as efficient as air conditioning, but does the job. And beats the alternative.

Good morning all. Carol we'll take a little of your rain especially if it will cool us down for awhile. I think The Driver has a good idea especially if you get more rain. I'm envious of your screened in porch there are way to many mosquitoes here to sit out even in the day time without screens, but DH thinks the screening would block his view of the yard....
Sorry about your car expenses Kathleen, do they give you any reason that your brakes need replacing so often?
Janice maybe we can get Soos to share some of her cold breezes!

Brakes yes they say I do not drive the car enough... it has a little over 51,000 and it is a 2001... it had 15,000 miles on it when I bought it...

Just getting on here. It's 1:30 PM. Watching the weather channel as I type. Looking at severe weather in Montana then Iown, Nebraska, Kansas on east. Hail, damaging winds and possible tornados. Saying same for tomorrow!! Yikes!
It is perfect here today! In the mid 70s and sunny. Sure hope some of this soggy ground dries out. Tomorrow they are saying more of the same, then back to the 60s, but no rain, so I'll take it!
I am waiting the appropriate 30 mins before I can eat. I had my teeth cleaned earlier and opted for the flouride treatment. Never had one before and they had a special, $25, so I had it done. My teeth feel all sticky and yucky but that's normal, they said. The longer I leave the flouride on, the better job it does. I can't have anything hot for 6 hrs.
Nothing else much planned. Yesterday I mopped floors, washed rugs, ran the vac, cleaned countertops and washed 2 batches of clothes as well as walk the dog. So far today I've walked the dog and did the dentist. I might just take my iPhone outside and read from the Kindle app.
Kathleen, glad you got your wheels all taken care of. Gotta stay safe driving.
Soos, thanks for the update on Hope and enjoy your last week of "work"!
Carol, your new screen porch sounds wonderful! Enjoy our company, too.
Janice? You go girl!!

I don't like that answer about the brakes. I guess it's not something I've ever heard before. My rig is a 1999 - just had the first brakes replaced on the front last summer. It had similar mileage to what you say - in a year more time. And since for years when I worked, my job and home were located at the same place, I rarely put many miles on and never had a problem with brakes. I'd worry about the job they are doing. Just my two cents.

That's what they tell me about my 2001 Ford E-450, that I don't drive it enough. I have had the brakes lock up on all 4 wheels, one twice. I have read a lot about it on RV.net and some people think it is the line that carries the brake fluid. They think that it collapses and the fluid can't return. What ever it is, it sure makes me gun shy.

Had to replace the front brakes in my 2001 Ford Escape after 23,000 miles, so I kinda tend to think it might be true.
