ALMOST SUMMER SATURDAY!

GOOD MORNING TO US ALL!
This will be a scorcher of a day, as it's already nearly 60 degrees out here------beautiful, clear, and sunny. I will need to find a good cold swimminghole, or perhaps the pond today. We sat out around a campfire again last night, and this time, when we decided to turn in at 2:30 am, I didn't have to get up at 4:30 for school! What a glorious morning it is!
There is no update on Hope the bear cub yet today, as a quick message last night stated that there is no power at the Bear Center. The morning's weather-damage pictures from that storm front that spawned all those tornadoes and severe thunderstorms are horrendous. Holy cow, I sure hope none of you were near that scary activity. And I hope my little cub found some shelter somewhere.
I will put my awning out today for the shade, but first I need to wash my trailer and possibly wax it. It's a perfect day to do that in a bathing suit. I really should make a dump run...how many months have I been stating that, and yet.......!
Ah, well....it's a sunny Saturday, so stop by and tell us about your day while you sip on some Hazlenut with French vanilla creamer. It's a wonderful almost-summer day! Monday will be the longest daylight day of the year. Sigh.....I so wish we could have this many daylight hours year 'round, but then, of course, we wouldn't have any seasons, ever. Our planetary system is pretty neat just as it is....I need to appreciate it more.
Happy Saturday wherever you may be!

Good morning!
My plans for the day have changed from exciting to mundane....will probably spend it cleaning house and finishing up readying the rv for leaving next week.
Today's planned adventure was canceled due to threat of afternoon thunderstorms. The Power Squadron (boating group) had planned a cruise to Hontoon Island State Park, a SP accessible only by boat. We were going to put in the St. Johns River at Astor and cruise to Hontoon Island for a day of fun and our traditional "Chili Dump." This trip has been postponed several times since early spring when we actually would have liked to have chili for lunch. Not so much now that the heat index is over 100. For those who may not have heard of a "chili dump"....everyone brings a quart of their favorite chili recipe and it all gets dumped together in one big pot....so you never know how it will turn out. I was planning to bring a very mild chili to offset the others who spice it up a lot.
I have one more adventure planned for Monday if weather permits, thanks to the foresight of Governor Crist.

good morning ladies
just a regular routine day for me, doing a bit of cleaning and such.
Liz, that chili dump sounds like a fun thing, maybe you'll get one in
the fall when the temps once again make a warm lunch appreciable.
Dishes are calling my name and then its laundry time. Have a good
day.

We had a thunderstorm around 4:30AM not too bad but amazingly it left us with a lovely cool morning!! 68 and very low humidity. Today is supposed to be 95 with 105-110 heat index. I'm hoping the cool will last through the morning so I can go to yoga class. I don't go out when the heat index is in the upper nineties much less over 100! The heat wave has no end in sight on the weather map I get really stressed and swear every summer I'll go somewhere else where it is cool. But...with three dogs who hate to travel I just can't bear to leave them behind even if DH is willing to look after them. They want their mom! So I'll be doing a lot of Reiki on myself and self hypnosis to get through the next week or so.
Sorry your plans were canceled Liz but it does sound like it might be a bit warm out for chile. Good to hear you are getting ready to start out on your summer trip soon.
Have a good day all and Soos enjoy your sunny day, do you get much humidity?

Sitting here listening to the rain on my roof. Peaches and I were out walking, when we heard thunder in the distance - even tho the sky above us was still blue and the sun out. She wanted to go on a long walk, I told her we were heading toward the rig. Stopped at Jean's to hook up another fan (her air conditioner went on the blitz - will be trying to get that replaced this coming week) and the rains started. Peaches didn't want to leave Jean's to walk to the next site! I think she realized it might be a storm.
You'd all laugh at how I have the squirrels off the bird feeder, at least for now. I moved it so that the only way they can get to it now is by climbing down the rope it's hanging from, or jumping. Well, about 6 or so inches up the rope from the feeder, I put a paper plate. Cut a slit and the feeder is wearing it like a sunshade. For 24 hours now, no squirrel has attempted that. I'm sure the rain right now will mean I'll have to replace the plate. But if it continues working, I'll be happy. Wanted to use fishing line to put the feeder up, but couldn't find where I put it - and they'd still be able to jump.
Have a great day, all.

Good Morning Ladies, Boy we sure had a fire works show last night... do not think there was much rain but such noise as you have ever heard... we will have sun and 90 temps today...
Boy I hit the jackpot yesterday... I had a $25 coupon to use if I spent $75... well the store had bras buy two get 2 free and a mark down rick of half price items... I got a T shirt and Night shirt... all told I paid $61 and got $77 free... best buy in a long time...
That is good but the doctor I saw yesterday said she does not know what is wrong with my face and wants to do patch tests to the tune of $800... I don't think I can dance to that one after all of the med and doctor visits... insurance pays some of it but I am not going to get it done just yet...
Ah Soos sounds like you are getting ready for the long long vacation that has no end... the only thing is that we tend to put off things when we do not have a schedule... at least I do...
Hope everyone has a super Saturday..
Kathleen

Gotta love the Pac.NW....we are about 4" above normal in rainfall and have not hit our usual 75* for June. Lucky to see 70* on occasion. Guess it is going to be one of those years of dreary, cloudy days.
Just think, Soos, very shortly you will never have to get up at 4:30am again unless you want to
Enjoy

Good afternoon - long since missed morning.
Good to know summer does eventually get to you Soos. I was beginning to wonder about if would stay cold all year.
Sounds like Kathleen made a big windfall with her new goodies. Now how about the lottery?
Liz - Great to learn you will be hitting the road again next week. Looking forward to seeing you.
Beth - I'm going to try an adaptation of your squirrel device (I need to stop climbing from bottom). Birds getting very little seed as squirrels are being very piggy.
Noticed when I was leaving the park last night that there were more campers than normal. Still Not full. Guess more are out for Father's day weekend.
We had big thunderstorm move thru area this morning and some places around town must have received lots of rain as we were under flash flood warning for a couple of hours. I got a lot of wind and could hear thunder rolling for more than an hour. Very little rain at my house; not sure it was enough to even penetrate the tree cover and wet ground..
So much to do today and so little of it of any real interest at least for now.
Wishing all a great day no matter what you are doing.

Beautiful day here today, 86, but the house stays cool until late afternoon. Had a great day yesterday, our HOG (Harley Owners Group) took a ride down to Coronado (down in San Diego) to take lunch to some wounded Marines at the Naval Hospital there. We had about 30 bikes on the ride down with a truck following with the food, t-shirts, calenders and posters for the guys. There were about 40 Marines there with various injuries. They really seemed to enjoy the company and the food, and they REALLY liked the pin-up Harley calendars and posters.
They all were so young, it just broke my heart, but they all seemed to be in good spirits. They really enjoyed looking at all the bikes and asking questions about the various models. Even had one guy that had lost his leg right below the knee asking if we thought he would be able to ride. One of our guys put him on one of the bigger bikes that has a heel toe shifter and foot pads, showed him an easy way to pick it up off the kickstand, and then a couple of the guys held the bike up and showed him that yes, indeed, he could shift with his "new" foot and leg. His face just lit up like a Christmas tree! I had tears in my eyes and I noticed a couple of our guys were wiping their eyes, too. Quite a few of our guys were veterans so this was especially meaningful to them. What a glorious day it was! Today just kicking back and getting some chores done and getting ready to head out again Wed for a week long bike ride to Utah and Colorado. Hope everyone has a great day today!

Sharon that is such a great thing you all did... we seldom think of the sacrifices our service men and women make for our safety... thank you for caring and not only caring but putting feet to that caring...

Good Afternoon....
Wow it is amazing how fast time has flown by. We busy getting the end of the year school work done.
Baseball Season is over and will not be missed. Learned several things..one of which the coach we had...as far as we were concerned was unfair to DS. Even other parents started noticing it. A friend whose son came and played for our team..one day as we had 4 players gone for HS graduation of older siblings..even noticed it. Then DH found out one of the possible WHY's??? Turned out this coaches adult son had worked for DH and was fired. We also do not agree with the way they oversee the "Pony Program" here. They are in conflict with many of the national rules and guidelines. DS will switch to Babe Ruth, next year..it will be better for him in the long run, as he can make the adjustment to the 90ft bases next year. That puts him in a better position when he transitions the following year to High School Baseball. He will have already had a season with the 90ft bases.
Today I did back up 1000's of pictures to my external hard drive. One of my external hard drives would not work with my new laptop. So Dh has to reformat it. So he has all the pictures on it..transferring to his lap top. Then he will reformat it mine and then transfer the pictures back on there.
One of these days I really need to load all the pictures and get them sorted and into better groupings and folders. Then save them by year onto the external hard drives. Plus I also make up back up CD's of the pictures too.
The girls and I are headed out shortly...we are spending the night at Woodland park Zoo with Camp Fire Clubs. It will be fun and Kodie is very excited...she has been counting down the days.
Well I should get off here and make sure we have everything loaded in the truck.
We are stopping in Marysville on the way down to drop off things to Ali, I picked up her RX from the Pharmacy here in town. It will be so great to see here..it has been a few months.
You all take care.
Kris

Sarah, quite a few came in yesterday for one night - but still about 30% of the sites were available. And today LOTS left. Guess they aren't camping for Father's Day. Weird. Unless we start seeing some coming in yet.
One site that was here awhile left with quite a bit of wood there - I moved it to Jean's - so when she's ready for campfires, we have plenty of wood now
Course it was all wet cuz of the downpour earlier, but it'll dry again.
Kris, I've been scanning lots of old pics onto an external hard drive. Just threw a big box of actual pictures away. A couple more big boxes to go. It's a chore, but I'll be so happy to have them all digital.

Yes, Sharon, thank you for that wonderful gift and report. Think it was Tuesday morning post that reminded all this is Armed Forces week. There has been some activity every day this week here honoring our military. My favorite was concert and fireworks monday night. We have a large Arsenal but relatively low number of soldiers for size of base. BRAC will increase those numbers over the next two years but will also loose some as one of the missile schools is moving to NJ.
Okay Beth, I've done an adaption of your squirrel resist feeder idea. Took a disposable roasting pan, slit to slip over post upside down, tied with some twine, taped the slit shut, and spray painted to cut down glare (and make it not so offensive looking). By the time I got it done, the squirrels and chipmunks had eaten another two pounds of seed. Assume they were too full to come back late this evening. Will take my coffee and camera to back porch in the morning to see if it is going to work - that is assuming a oposom or raccoon doesn't destroy it overnight.
