Molly in her camping hut!

Good morning to us all!

It's a nice cool morning at 55 degrees here at the campground, and many people with many dogs came in yesterday. Molly has been having a ball playing with some of them in the doggy playyard----a fenced-in area where they can all run and chase balls, etc.!

I visited with my friend, Kathy, who lives just around the corner from this campground yesterday afternoon, and we got caught up on our latest lives. Her kids and their families are coming for the weekend, and they invited me over for the cookout....I will decide on that later, but will surely go over for a visit as I haven't seen her three girls in a long time. I will also drive over to visit more long-time friends today and take some pictures of the house (once a log cabin when I lived in it) where I was living when my daughter, Mandy, was born. It is such a beautiful place over there. The other friend and her family I have known since elementary school, and we both moved up here after graduation from college to live in a tent until the snows flew in the winters.

I am going to move out to the picnic table with my coffee, as it's so nice to be able to sit out there and not get bitten by black flies! THERE! So nice out here under these stately white pines!

Little Hope and her mom, Lily, are wandering together, playing as they did before the separation, and dispelling the worries of so many who believed Lily would no longer want her baby. I believe it was the misfortune to have that horrendous rainstorm that obliterated Hope's scent that COULD have meant her starving, her mother no longer able to produce the much-needed milk, and then the inevitable estrus cycle beginning all over again. This would have meant the loss of a very important member of this bear research that Dr. Rogers, (Lynn) is conducting.

I hope your weekend is as nice as it is here in the Adirondacks, and that you will have company and/or family to share the cookout fare this vacation is famous for! I think the pig roast for the campground is tomorow, but maybe it's today. Will have to get a schedule and see.

Stop by for coffee, and tell us about your day!

I'm sitting here at my desk just about hating you Soos! Dang I wish we had reservations for this weekend, but 90 days ago when reservations had to be made our camper was still surrounded with 8' foot drifts. DH was afraid that he was going to have a late planting season so when the Memorial Day organizer (I'm the 4th of July organizer) was making the reservations for this weekend we told them to pass on us. Well wouldn't you know...snow melted...fields dryed up fast and planting has been done for a week! Just can't second guess Mother Nature. But Radar and I did sleep in the camper last night....we like to play pretend!

Yesterday I ended up taking a professional care day...threw my back out Thursday morning at work. The chiropractor that I usually go was booked so I took an appointment with a new Dr. at the clinic. This guy was about 6'4" and must weigh about 300#...big brut! Lots of strength! Anyhoo...he had me on my side and working on my hips pressed down and I passed gas...   Thought I was going to die of embrassment! But I felt better and so did my back! Just don't know if I'll have to guts to make an appointment with this guy again...then again....he may not want me for a patient either!

I thought I was going to wash the rig today and finish planting my pots, but it's already 73* and 30 mph wind and it's suppose to get up to 90* and 35-40 winds and possibly severe thunderstorms late afternoon...don't think it's going to be the best day to try to do anything outside. Guess that means cleaning inside...oh joy. Tomorrow I head to my mom's and we'll go and decorate graves. So maybe if Monday is nice I'll get it done.

You all have a nice holiday weekend.

Good Morning All

How great to know the bears are back together and doing well.

Soos and so many others are out enjoying camping holiday (or dog show). Great site you have there Soos. Did you back in?

Looks as if we are in for a relatively wet holiday weekend as rain in forecast. That's okay as it saves me watering the back yard trying to save the last of my winter rye a bit longer (it does not like hot weather). Also need to get the rain over before Tina arrives for our mini gtg next week. So excited she is coming.

I spent 30 minutes separating Nicky and a opossum late last night. Nicky was hacking when he came in, I think from swallowing too much fur. He caught the darn thing twice!!! Nicky is about 45 lbs; opossum was near 30 lbs. Nicky was struggling to carry it across the yard. I got him to drop it the first time on command. Poor little critter did a good job playing dead but not for long enough. When he tried to get away, Nicky caught him again. This time he was not giving up. I managed to get a leash on Nicky and drug him toward porch with opossum in mouth. Opossum must have been afraid of me too and wiggled just enough to startle Nicky and get dropped for a second time - this time on concrete path. I was not all that happy at having to get that close to the opossum either. Fortunately for all concerned, the critter finally escaped. I did not find any blood on Nicky - his or otherwise. I love all of God's critters but wish they would stay out of the back yard, especially late at night. Hopefully Tina's dogs are not hunters.

Wishing all a good relaxing holiday weekend and looking forward to lots of photos of your doings.

Good morning everyone!

I've been up for quite a while but haven't gotten myself dressed yet. But I'm going to get myself together soon & head out for some "putzing" -- have to pick up heartworm meds for Jed, make a Wally World run, and then do a little geocaching in the 'hood. Once I make it home I've got all of my permanent records for school (we call them cumulative files or "cums") to plow through. Not supposed to bring them home, but with 34 to complete there's NO way to get them done during the day. So I say a little prayer and throw them in the back of the car to bring home for the weekend. I'll probably put on a movie or watch all the DVR'd stuff I've got while I work on them. But they'll get done & that little chore will be done for another year!

It's supposed to get pretty warm here -- mid-upper 80s -- and I may meet some other geocaching folks tomorrow. If not I think Jed & I will head to the beach for a couple of hours. Sure wish my summer was here, but I've got 14 more days of school before I'm free. While it goes quickly, right now there's SO much to get done before I head out on June 19th!

Good afternoon all.

Soos, Molly looks adorable in her camping hut. Have a fun weekend you two. Sounds like you have some good plans.

Weather here is hot and humid. They are calling for an ozone alert day. Which means they advise no unnecessary driving, mowing, those with respiratory problems should stay indoors, etc. The allergens have been through the roof again. All except trees this time. I did errands yesterday to avoid the holiday shopping madness, so will just stay inside and enjoy the AC. Doing my part for the ozone alert. :D ;) No big plans for the weekend, just getting together with some friends, so it will be nice.

To all those traveling, take care and be safe. Linda
