MOODY MONDAY

GOOD MORNING TO US ALL.

Lily made it back to the tree and was searching for Hope when the biologists tracked her yesterday. As of nightfall and the update, no Hope, however. Another day not knowing what is going on there. It's tough to get so involved with what goes on in nature, as, by human standards, it's not always 'right.' And it was raining hard by the old red pine where Hope and Lily were last seen together, making it much harder for Lily to smell out Hope. I can only hope that Hope and Lily will be together by daylight in Ely.

It's about 45 degrees outside, and the sky looks to be clear again. The eastern toads are trilling at the pond, and the spring peepers are making themselves heard this morning down there also. I got some pretty decent sunset pictures last night which are on my laptop out in the trailer, and will post a couple of those later today when I get back from school. The lawn is looking good and green now, and is growing fast and furiously.

Bath time now, so stop in and have some coffee. I will be checking the bear website all day today for any more news about little Hope whose pictures are the wallpaper on both of my computers.

Until later, have a fun day whatever you do.

Yesterday was hot and humid and my Central Air unit quit working. I heard it die a slow death in the middle of the night Saturday night. I kept the place closed up all day with a fan running which worked for most of the day. It got gradually warmer in here tho as the day went on. Ran a fan over me all night and now I just heard that there is an "excessive heat warning" today for MN as it is suppose to reach almost 100 degrees with dewpoints in the 70's (tropical). There is a probability of severe storms today as well (prime conditions for that!). I am supposed to play golf this afternoon!! I am hoping they cancel that due to the heat at least! I also have to run down to the managers office here before leaving for work and have them come in and fix my AC ASAP!! I closed the blinds on the windows to keep the sun out and have two fans running. Ferrets have no way to sweat so they can get overheated very quickly so I am worried about them! It is already over 80 degrees in here this morning. The maintanence guy is really good at getting to things quickly so hopefully he can fix this right away. I have been having problems with it even in the winter when the motor quit several times and I got no heat. I think it needs a new motor.

I sure hope this isn't an indication of how the whole summer is going to be! It isn't even June yet! I can handle the heat but not the humidity!

I better get ready for work now...

Well I was going to moan about it being 75 and humid here but after reading Barbie's post I'm feeling lucky. Hey Soos send some of your cool breezes our way! Not much planned today except stay inside, I don't do humidity well either. As I looked around coming in from a walk, I saw plenty of things to keep me busy, like dusting and the never ending need to vacuum. By the time I get the whole house done I almost need to start over. Ah but I love all my little hair factories. I've been checking in with my friend in Michigan trying to get an idea of when we can get together. I really enjoyed Michigan and Wisconsin when I traveled there last year. I will not be doing the ferry again though, one trip on the Badger was enough.
Have a good day all and I'm crossing my fingers they get your A/C repaired very quickly this morning Barbie.

It hit 95 with high himidity yesterday in Huntsville. Broke a record. Just a couple days earlier, I was using my little heater in the morning. Go figure. Didn't turn on my air until overnight - I like it cool to sleep and the humidity just wasn't going to allow that.

About to go sit outside for a bit - before the heat of the day settles in again. Peaches just loves watching the squirrels. Well, she really wants to chase them, but I don't let her. Yesterday I put the inner scoopings of a cantelope out in the fire pit - and the squirrels loved it. I should have taken a picture. Peaches wanted to know why she didn't get them :)

Have a good day all - stay safe.

Wow Barbara that is hot...too hot for that area. I am sure.
Here our summers are normally in the 70's with a few 80's. But when it starts getting to the 90's and above...it is too hot.

We have been having cool temps. In fact I am still wearing long johns and layering for baseball games. Sit wrapped up in blankets.

I am hopeful the insurance issue gets fixed this week. I called Triwest this am...the specialist is still not showing up in the system as being contracted. We are 24 days past his contracted date. The specialist office gets told....You are contracted as of May 1st. I get told by the authorization dept that he is not showing up as being contracted. The person I spoke to this am, was telling me there is nothing I can do. The specialist has to contact the subcontracting agent and tell them they are not showing up in the system. Mind you they did this back at the beginning of the month. They were told that they are contracted. I told the person today..that I am tried as is the specialist office of getting the run around. I wanted to know exactly what needs to be done. Then she tells me that I need to have the specialist office contact the contracting agent AGAIN.
Then she says there is nothing I can do. To which I told no..there is. This issue WILL be resolved by the end of the week. If not come Friday, I will be emailing Cherie Little, who is the military liaison for Congressman Rick Larsen. She was like..I don't think that is necessary. I told she should take some time and read through my notes. I am not a mom to be messed with. I will in the end get what I need for my special needs daughter. I have had the Congressman involved before and I have no issues of going to him again.

I swear one of these days I am going to keep a time long of dealing with their screw ups and send them a bill for time spent fixing an issue that should not have been a issue in the first place.

Other then that...we will be getting the trailer ready this week..for it first outing . It will be baseball tournament, the town is about 1 hour away. With the tentative weather forecast of rain. It will be nice to have a dry place. I know some people are like..baseball and rain. Here in the PNW..you have to have down pour...before they will call a game. The reality is if they canceled every game when it rained...we would be having make ups til September.

They won 3 of the 4 games they played this weekend.

Barbie...I remember you saying you were having trouble with that thing this past winter. They need to get that thing fixed and not just patched up with the ferrets and cat in there! It is hot here, too  I had my space heater running just a couple of nights ago so it's a bit of a shocker. I think it's supposed to get up to 89 today. It was sure hot and muggy during my morning work. This was my big morning, when I have to foam clean the comfort stations and hose down the exterior of the bldgs, too, to get off spider webs, wasp nests, etc. I was hosing off one of the bldgs and a mouse ran up the side and up under the roof. I called a medical supply store here and they are sending over a back brace from their other store so hoping it fits and I can pick that up tomorrow. I'm hoping that helps my ailing back! I had a hard time getting moving this morning. I gave in and took some aspirin and did pretty good working. Was careful to not bend over too much and didn't have to lift anything heavy. Luckily, DXH did the picnic shelters so he had to lug that hose reel that hurt my back to start with. He finished before me, so he helped me with my last comfort station. Sure goes a lot quicker with help! Glad I took some water and a snack with me ;) I worked for 5 hrs straight and it's all physical. The other days are much easier, so I can't really complain. Besides, I'm getting some nice muscles :D

I'm so glad I didn't have to go to SD to be in court today :D I will still have to go up and change my DL since I'm taking my maiden name back, but I can at least go after I get paid. Can do the registration and pay my sales tax, etc. through my mail forwarding lady. Terri is AWESOME!!!

Had a nice day yesterday! My brother and his wife, from Omaha, were in town so I invited them and my mom up for lunch. I made a nice fresh green salad, a black bean and orzo salad with corn, etc., and grilled lemon pepper chicken breast on my Weber. No, I didn't do the Weber dance for them  I might have if I had another beer :o It all turned out yummy! We sat out at my picnic table and had a nice visit, but it was as much as I could tolerate of my brother for awhile. It has to be hard living in that brain  He's the one who came to visit when we were in Key West....Learned my lesson on that! He did get more motivated, though, to get a fifth wheel. He just got a new truck, complete with the fifth wheel plate in back, in preparation of getting one. Still undecided on which one, though. His wife is NOT on the same page there! Will be interesting to see if she goes with him. Anyway...they had a couple of graduation open houses to go to so Mom stayed up here with me and we walked Rags and she sat outside while I planted some flowers in a planter. I took her home and did a load of laundry at her house. We had a light supper and then I had to get back in time to close up the park.

I better go get ready to do my afternoon rounds. Think Rags and I will walk so he doesn't get overheated by running by my bicycle. Must be pretty hot out there because I don't see all the cyclists I was seeing all day up til now. Thank God for air conditioning! Can I get an Amen to that?

Linda, hope your back gets to feeling better. Not fun!
You mentioned making black bean and orzo salad. That sounded so tasty I looked up the recipe and will make it soon as love beans!
I can't believe the weather there. I was in the Chicago area just a week ago and it was in the high 50s. I watched the WGN news today and it was 88! And I sure remember the midwest humidity!
Thinking of Barbie, too, with her AC problem. Hope that gets fixed asap.

Amen! I have my AC back! What a relief! They didn't come in to fix it unti around 3pm! I called from work at 3 and they said they were just working on it! I left work and came right home to check on the animals! The cat actually seemed worse off than the ferrets. I put some cool water in the tub and threw the ferrets in there (only an inch deep). They didn't like that much but I know it helped cool them off, since they have no way of sweating to cool off by themselves. Put the cat in there too to get her feet cooled off.

Went to play golf. Man was it hot and sticky! The only saving factor was the wind! I played OK and met some new girls on the league.

It is finally cooling off in my apartment now but still feels a little humid yet. The AC sounds different tonight so I think he put in a new motor or fan. The old one had a nasty squeal to it! Hope this one lasts thru the summer! It looks like it is going to be a long, hot, sticky one!

This morning on my way to work, I saw a little turtle on the side of the road upside down and flailing his little legs. I pulled over and when I turned him over, I saw that he had been hit by a car and his shell was broken. I put him in a box and drove him to the Animal Humane Society and dropped him off with the Wildlife Rehab people. He seemed to be OK since he was moving around in the box pretty good, but they called me later and said that he had a fractured skull and a damaged eye and they had to put him to sleep. I felt bad, but he would have suffered a painful death if I hadn't brought him in. I rescue lots of turtles every summer around here. With all the lakes around here, there are always turtles on the roads, especially when they start laying their eggs. I try to save as many as I can. Even the big, mean, ugly, stinky ones! Don't like to see anything get hurt and suffer. They're just trying to survive like the rest of us!

You are a good person to stop, Barbie, and try to save as many of the little creatures as possible. I have seen people aim for turtles crossing the road and it just makes my blood boil. I will never understand some people's indifference to life on this planet...not as long as I live will I ever be able to fathom that kind of behavior.
