COOLER, GREY SATURDAY

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!

It's a somewhat cloudy, rather dreary day today, but still not too cold----about 47 degrees out there.

The kids called last night when they landed in Orlando, and by the sound of the laughter and chit chat in the car on their way home, I imagine a good time was had by all! I forgot to ask them to read up on the Costa Rican earthquake. Will have to call today and tell them about it. I have not heard a single word about it on any news channels on TV---I wonder why. I did read up on it online, but that was it. Strange that they are not showing anything on CNN or Fox or NBC----or, if they have, I have missed it.

Molly and I will head to the RV dealers to pick up Ursa Minor, or Little Bear, today----I have decided on a new name for my trailer----Freedom or Libertas just doesn't cut it for me. I really am not so attached to it that I feel it derserves any name yet, I guess. I call my Tom Tom GPS unit Mr. Man, and that seems very fitting for bossy it/him! But the trailer----no real name has been used for that in my mind as yet. I will try on Ursa or Ursa Minor and see if that seems 'right' to me. After all, I didn't even name my son on time at the hospital, as I had no name in my mind that seemed 'fitting.' I made them let me go home by putting 'My Googy Baby' on the birth certificate, as, unless I signed with a name for him, they were going to keep us in there! They were horrified that I would do such a thing, and tried to tell me I couldn't do it. "I can, and I will," I said. I had 3 days to change it at the town hall with no fee penalties, and I took all three days before I came up with a name that seemed to 'fit' this new soul. However, the poor kid has been called Googy all his life by his closest peers and friends and mother! He told his Kindergarten teacher his name was Googy, and, to this day, she still asks me how her 'Googy' is doing! So, as you can tell, I have a 'thing' about names!

Coffee is hot, so stop by and tell us about your latest adventures. I will be busy unhitching, reloading and rehooking the trailer all afternoon, but will check back in here later on. Thursday I will hitch up again for my first campout----and that reminds me that I need to get my bike out. clean it up, pump up the tires, oil it, and get it ready for the haul. I love bicycling on that side of the mountain where it is flatter than it is on this side.

Happy Saturday to all!

good morning
nothing going on today in my part of the world, weather prediction today is back in
the 90's but that still means the ac will be running.
The retirement part was a good turnout, lots of past retiree's stopped by with well
wishes for this years retirees. The other fun part was the seniority list got posted
too. I have moved up to number 21 out of 187. WOW, it feels weird, course it only
counts when we bid on our routes every year. It doesn't count for anything else in
our dept. So, 2 and a half more days of school and another year is done. The tuesday
after memorial day I start my summer route. It goes to the end of June, then I don't
know what I'll be doing for July. Hope to find that out in June, but I really don't
like the uncertainty of the summer budget.
Enjoy your day and be safe

The weather is very cool, cloudy and rainy today. I think we have dropped back to March Weather.
Last night I went out about 10pm to pick up DD from the Dance Showcase she was in. You could see my breath...weird for May. It has been a much cooler spring. Then again we had a warmer winter..so maybe mother nature got confused there.

DS has baseball games this weekend. This is weird, he moved up a league this year, so it is hard getting use to the games are always on the weekend and all league games are double headers. So he has 2 games today and 2 games tomorrow. Kinda eats up the weekends.

DD has the Dance Showcase today again and then the Pro Show is tonight. Where they do fill in between the pros. This is with her Ballroom Dance Youth Dance Team.

Been busy working on getting some end of the year stuff done. We had a homeschool field trip to Seattle this week. IT was so nice and sunny when we arrived and turned to pouring down rain within a few hours. It hard, as we do the school on Trains program. So we take the Amtrak to Seattle and you are basically on foot. Although they do have buses and some routes in a certain zone are free. We went to the Science Center as that was part of the group activity. I have to say I was quite bummed. We have been to the Science Center many times and the normal displays have not changed in 10 years. I was looking forward to the display that rotate in. It was on Mars...turned out it ended the week before. When we picked the date for the Train trip, it was still there, but then the train had to bump us up a week. So it closed on Sunday and we were then on Wed.

Then we headed to the waterfront to go window shopping at all the stores and such. It was funny, as a cruise ship was in...we could tell who was off the cruise the ship, they had umbrellas. The locals we have rain jackets or fleece hoodies.

Well I need to head out the door for the baseball game.

Kris

Morning all. Yesterday actually cleared up later in the afternoon and was a nice evening. But is dreary this morning, and the humidity is back in full force. What should I expect of 'bama in spring/summer? The only part I really dislike are the ticks everywhere. Seems I am always checking Peaches and me - think there are no more, then sometime later find another. That wouldn't be so bad, if the last one hadn't been in bed when I felt something on my hairline. Yep, it was a tick. I do enjoy lighting them up. I hate to say that I enjoy killing anything - but those - yep.

Sometime this afternoon I'm going grocery shopping.

Yesterday afternoon I spent working on putting together a Women RV Cafe Press Store. Will be giving the link for that in the near future.

Off to find something nutritious to eat since I didn't have breakfast and my tummy is talking.

This morning started out hot and steamy. Went to work at the salon early. Then a cold front came thru, and had thunderstorms rolling thru for several hours so that was fun to watch and listen to! Then it cleared up, was cooler, dryer and very, very windy. It is still extremely windy out!
Had no haircuts today so it was a long, boring day for me. Can't wait 'til I start the new job. Will probably do around 20 haircuts on Saturdays there. Will probably make about $50 per day just in tips, so that will be nice! Thursday evening will be my last day at this salon. Then I have all next weekend off from both jobs (Sat - Mon).
I bought a Topsy Turvy tomato plant hanger today. I planted a cherry tomato plant in it so we'll see how that does. Last year I tried it with a regular tomato plant and ended up with tons of plant and hardly any tomatoes. Found out I needed to plant the "container tomatoes" as those don't get very big but produce a lot of tomatoes. Not sure what this one will do, but it is small and already has little tomatoes on it.
Went outside by the lake to watch the big waves (white caps from the strong winds) and listen to them crashing on the shore! My eyes are burning now from the wind but it was nice to get that fresh air in my lungs! The poor birds are having a hard time flying today! The seagulls love it tho! They are just soaring thru the air currents over the lake!

Hope everyone is having a good day today!

Good evening, everyone.

The weather was mostly cloudy and on the cool side today. After being cooped up in the house for over a week, I NEEDED to get out for a little while. Decided to go to the library where Sarah and I stocked up on some leisure-time reading (including a few RV books!) After that, we decided to go to a nearby playground (which has a wonderful big, grassy field attached where I brushed up Nadja on her obedience (got a little rusty during our downtime) and taught her a few new things.

From there, we decided to attend a local horse/livestock auction...just for fun. It was fun, and we saw lots of cool critters (Sarah got to meet/hold a snake that a woman purchased for $20!), including some beautiful horses. The horses that were left in the pens out back were ones that were run through the auction last night and didn't sell. Many of these horses end up going to slaughter if they are not sold, so there's a sense of foreboding that encompasses you as you meet these poor creatures. There was one little colt that especially grabbed my heart. He was approx 2 years old (if that), and was absolutely beautiful!!! Only thing was...he was dead lame. He couldn't bear any weight on his front left leg, which pretty much seals his fate at a place like public auction. I wanted to help him so badly! I took some photos of him, and as soon as I got home, posted them all over the contact lists of horse auctions/friends and facebook to try to get a rescue to pull him out of there and rehab him. He'll make someone a wonderful friend if they take the time/cost of vet care to help him out. He's so sweet and gentle--can't stand to see him there. I pray that someone sees the posts and helps get him out of there and into a forever home where he belongs. ;)

This was my first day out of the house for any length of time since my surgery, so I'm sore and wore out----but I feel so good to have had the chance to re-join the rest of the world!

Sarah and I were planning to go to the park tomorrow afternoon and cook out on one of the grills there---we're going to imagine that we're camping ;-)

So nice to see you up and about! A horse auction would break my heart as well----maybe you can convince someone to take the time with that two-year-old, and spend the money to allow him to grow and thrive. I'll be thinking of you and Sarah cooking out and 'camping' today at the park! I, too, am 'camping' in my own yard! Enjoy your dinner and 'Smores'!
