GOOD MORNING AVA AND ALL!
Glad your budget is working itself down to manageable, Ava! That's always a good feeling!
Yesterday was one of the most perfect days I have ever spent up here in the north country-----one of those rare, sunny, very warm (high 70s), bug-free days! I worked in the yard most all day, and tried to prepare for getting my trailer out of its winter garage and back here by the house so it can become my summer house. By tomorrow, or later this afternoon, unless I go to visit my daughter about an hour and a half from here, I will haul it out! IF, that is, I can get my truck with its dead battery jumped and recharged today! I stupidly played music all day yesterday as I was working in the yard, and then when I went over to visit Issy for a late afternoon cocktail hour. When I got ready to come home, all the truck did was click-click-click. She and I tried to jump-start it, but, after a few drinkies, who knows if we were doing it right, or not! We might not have had the cable clamps adjusted quite right. Anyway, it didn't start! Sooooo....I will call for help this morning, and hope I can get the show on the road again. Issy drove me home and dropped me and Molly at the end of the driveway in the mud pit, which we walked through to get to the house!
I took down my tent yesterday afternoon---always a battle to get an unfolded tent back into its original bag, but I did it! I also took some more pics of it with its fly sheet on and the front canopy up, and the truck disconnected from it. It's very easy to disconnect so you can drive the truck away and leave your tent standing. (Assuming you haven't run your battery into the ground, of course!) I will get those new pics downloaded and posted later this morning, but first I need to deal with my dead truck.
To answer a few questions about my truck/tent setup----yes, my camper top can be opened up from the inside, and the tailgate can also be closed up for the night, if I so choose. But the main reason for the tent addition is to allow breezes and to have a bug-free environment to cook, pee in my bucket, lounge in my lounge chair, and use my computer at a table. (If WiFI is available) If it's pouring rain, I don't know if the limited-coverage fly sheet will keep it dry in the tent, or not, but, if that happens for a long period of time, it's time to go home! I would just throw everything into the back of the truck and head out! I consider the tent to be just a 'spare room' for the truck camper top! I still need to order a doughnut to go between the two openable windows in the camper top and the truck cab.....but I want to wait for my new truck before I order one to make sure I get the right size!
Latest update on Hope and Lily is that Hope is doing fine out in the big woods! They are now over 300 yards from their den at the base a huge white pine. When Lynn and Sue visited them yesterday, the two bears were on the move from the first white pine to this new one. Hope was able to move along and follow Lily, with her Mom's help, and she then climbed up to a branch of the white pine. She was also able to climb back down with the help of Mom's coaxing. One of the latest pictures of them out of the den is now my desktop on this computer, and it's so cute that I can't help but chuckle every time I see it--Lily is on her back under a rotten log, covered with bits of wood chips, and Hope is sitting with huge eyes, staring at her mother! Pricelsss picture!
The sun is coming up nicely again today, and I can't wait to get back outside to see how much more snow has melted. Once the pile where I want to park the trailer goes down a bit more so I can replace the sod removed by the snowplow, I am good to go! I am going to call the Ford dealersip again today, also....I want my new truck!
Thanks for the help with the derivation of 'Good' Friday, those of you who chimed in. I guess the God and Good terminology makes a lot of sense, at least to me.
Poor Alice, still waiting for your RV! I am so hoping that when you finally get it, you will find the perfect spot for camping and that Abby will become the perfect leash-dog! At least you can be happy that Abby isn't mean toward other dogs---just wants to play! If you could find a campground with an enclosed dog-play area, you could let her loose their with other dogs every day until she wearts herself to a frazzle! Many KOAs have such pens, and I have found them wonderful for Molly. Even having her be able to go loose alone in there while you throw things for her to chase would be good for her. You could have 5 cups of hot coffee from a thermos while she runs her little a&& off!
I hope you all have a great Saturday, and that your weather is even half as nice as ours. Coffee is hot and Hazlenut, so come have a sip!
