GOOD MORNING TO ALL!
It's about 25 degrees out there, and Molly and I found ourselves locked in this morning when I tried to put her out. The handle on my porch screen door had frozen from the outside and would not open! So I reluctantly donned some heavy clothes and boots, and went out through the cellar, through the still deep snow, and freed UP the door latch! I don't like how that little bit of effort now leaves me breathless, and I guess I really need to see a doctor to find out what in heck is up with my breathing. I am having to use my inhalers way more than I have had to do in years now. If I were smart, I would spend this upcoming vacation going to get all my yearly doc tests done, and add the most dreaded one I have never had, the colonoscopy! ACK!!! That's if I were smart, which you all know I am not!
Just today and tomorrow to go before our vacation begins. I really wish I could be looking forward to my yearly trip to FL, but, if I do retire, I won't have to make it that rushed, tiring down and back trek. I have stayed here at home in a few other years, but mostly used this time to head south to sun and swimming. Oh well----at least I won't have to get up at 4:30 for a couple of weeks!
I hope you all have a good day wherever you may be. Stop by for a cup of coffee and tell us about your doings!

No ice here but looks like more rain is on the way. We've had way too much in the last week. They were going to come and put in the concrete slab for our house generator but it is way too wet in our back yard.
I've had the awful spring virus/flu thing that is going around since Sunday afternoon an it is a nasty one. I spent TWO hours at the doctors office yesterday and I had an appointment. There were so many people there with the same thing they were running way behind. Good news is I feel better today and don't have to take antibiotics. I don't like taking drugs of any kind, the doctor suggested Musinex but after reading about it, I'm drinking hot water with apple cider vinegar in it and hoping for the best. I'm blaming my DH for this as Sunday morning he said he hadn't had a cold in a couple of years and I said me either, guess my cabinets that I knocked on aren't real wood !
Soos, sorry your not getting a real vacation but just being away from your job will probably relieve some of your stress and that will be a vacation of sorts!

Good-morning Everyone !!
The sun is shining here!! Hopefully my mood and ambition will improve today.
The term "icy" in your thread title, sure suited this morning, Soos. I know I
wouldn't like that happening. So far, I have been lucky here. Car doors have
iced up, but no house doors YET. If anyone needed a trip to Fl.(if it could be
nice warm Fl) it is you. I think you are the hardiest person on here. I read of
your day and helps me , deal with mine here, which has been so unusually cold this yr.
I wish for your sake, you could go to Fl. too, for a break.
Not much happening here, your describing how you had to get out this morning,
just wanted to tell you, think you're a much better person then I am. I would
have already gone to Florida. (Oh thats right I did, and it was freezing and
snowed down there too) Hopefully its better now.
Have a great day everyone, stay warm, anyone traveling, stay safe
Carol

I hate ice ! I'd take a foot of snow before any ice. Hope Spring comes soon !! It's been really nice in Iowa - 40-50's and sunny, now that I have a couple of days off, it's cloudy and rainy - oh well, guess I'll just have to take a nap !
I found the cure for the common cold - Take Zicam when you first feel it coming on and continue taking it - Use a Neti Pot to clean the "crap" out - Eat lots of hot, Hot & Sour Soup and get allot of sleep. I felt "the crap" coming on and did "the cure" and was just about 100% well in 2 days -
Soos - a colonoscopy is not a big deal ! The day before when you have to drink the stuff and clean yourself out is a bit ridiculous, but the procedure is nothing at all - in fact you don't remember anything about it. Go do it - it's an important test to have done !
Hope everyone has a great day

Morning!
Today is suppose to be a mirror of yesterday's; sunny and warm. Me like! Temps around mid 60s.
This morning I took the first of my new "happy pills". So far I'm not feeling anything much different. My worry was the high blood pressure the first ones caused, but I feel no racing heart etc. Fingers crossed.
Soos, I'm no 'fool'. I'll be getting my colonoscopy done on April 1st !
The prep nurse I talked to told me that once you are passing only clear yellowish liquid 'after a few' bathroom visits, you can stop drinking the gunk, as that means you are cleaned out. She also said she doesn't tell that to most people because she doesn't want to chance that some would think they done, but not. She told me because she knew I wouldn't cheat because I have lost a brother to colon cancer and I have another that has had colon cancer surgery and knows I want to make sure the Dr can see everything well.
Soos, you've had quite the winter. Reminds me too much of my 21 yrs in Alaska. Been there, done that, I'm so over it. LOL
It's a lifestyle that's not for everyone, but you surely embrace it.
Have a great day everyone. Stay safe!

Good Morning
Spring is making another strong attempt to get in here today - lots of sun and a high in the 70s (it snowed a couple of days ago). Rain coming back tomorrow but it is beautiful right now. Soos, wish I could send some of the warmer sun to you.
No big plans for today other than a dentist appointment this afternoon. Might try to put some grass seed out for mother nature to water for me. I keep trying to get grass in my back yard in spite of fact that it continues to fail. The winter rye did well this year and is currently looking good but that is very temporary. Oh well, I have at least learned to enjoy the green for what time it is around.
Have a safe day

I'll have to say good afternoon. It's a beautiful day here after a chilly start (40's) this morning. Had to turn on the heat again to warm up the house.
Since it's sunny and no wind, I decided to deploy the awning on my rv to see if I could do it by myself and get it back in place. I've been too chicken to try it since I bought the rv a year ago, but think I might like it at the beach. Experiment was successful, although it took me a few tries to figure out how the legs tucked back up in there when putting it up. I should have paid attention to how they looked when I got it out. While it was set up, I washed it, so am quite proud of myself. I think I will be much more apt to use it now, especially when camped somewhere more than 1 day.
Have my route to TX all figured out and highlighted in my atlas, as well as places to camp along the way. Haven't decided about the route back home yet, except a stop to meet Vickie in LA.
I really need to clean my house... but can't persuade myself of the importance. I'd rather work on getting ready to go. Roe's ready...had his bath last night.
Hope everyone is enjoying their day.

I have thought about going to the GTG but I am going to the RVW rally in Smith Point, TX on the 15th. It's almost 400 miles for me to go to Port Lavaca, come home and turn around a week later and go to Smith Point. If I could be gone 2 weeks I would go and stay longer but I can't be gone that long.
If you stay around Lafayette let me know and I will go meet you. I went to the Christmas Boat Parade with you and Carol when we stayed at Betty's. I can't remember what year but think it was 2006. The mind is going fast. lol You are welcome to camp at my house going or coming but I know I'm off the beaten path. I live 8 miles south of Betty's.

Another beautiful day in sunny SoCal...last week the temps were in the low 80's, but we're only getting mid 70's this week. I much prefer the 80's, but after reading posts from Soos and some others, I'll take my 70's and be happy!
Leaving Friday for Death Valley and Beatty, Nev on the bikes, so have been busy getting Chewy's bed, crate mattress cover and blankies washed and getting the rest of her stuff together. Then she's going in the sink for a much needed bath. She's going to spend the w/e at the trainers for a little R&R. NOT! She's gonna be working her little tail off! This is one dog that is not gonna be a happy camper!
She's really going to think her mama doesn't love her anymore. She usually goes to my GD and gets the run of the place with the rest of the 4 footed kids. This time she's going to be working on her commands and taking a pack walk twice a day. We usually do 1 long walk and a short one, so she's really going to have to run to keep up with the big boys. Gotta go run some errands and continue with getting us both packed for our respective adventures....Hope everyone has a great day!

Yes, I can tell it was 2006 'cause that's my post-chemo wig and not my gray hair on my head.
Thanks for the invite. If you're still there on my return trip, perhaps we'll gtg. I'm traveling farther north on my way out.

Trudy...Where are you in IA? Are you from there? I will be there for the summer. I have a workamping job out at Saylorville Lake. Soos...I'm due for the big "C", too! I did one about 8 or 9 yrs ago and was supposed to drink a whole gallon of that awful Golytely crap...no pun intended I got about half of it down and started crying every time I lifted the cup to my mouth No kidding! I thought it was torture! Then...I got up at 2:00 AM, feeling the urge again. Wasn't sure if I was going to puke or faint. Had to lay on the tile bathroom floor, with heart pounding. Think my electrolytes were totally messed up. I could do it no longer and only got through a half gallon, but the Dr. told me it was enough as long as everything coming out was clear. I got to the office and just before I went back to have the procedure, the nurse noticed the sticker on my chart with my latex allergy. Please She said they weren't equipped with a latex free room so I would have to go down to the hosp for it...and that would require an appt. NO WAY!!! I got mad and told them that I was ready to eat a steak and that if I couldn't get in that day, I wasn't doing it! The Dr. was understanding and he got me in and met me down at the hosp., but by the time we did the procedure, it was 3:00 PM. I was ready to eat the whole cow by then The actual procedure wasn't bad. OK...now listen to my advice...ASK FOR THE FLEET PREP Got it? My brother told me you don't have to do the Golytely and can do it with some laxative pills and bottles of stuff that's not so bad to drink. I told my husband that when he had his and it wasn't bad at all. That is what I'm asking for this time, for sure! And...I will make sure they have a latex free room set up ahead of time!
As for my day...now that it's almost over. I went for a motorcycle ride with some friends up to Cedar Key for lunch...about 100 mi round trip. Temps in the 70's and gorgeous!!! It felt good to get out on the mtc, as I haven't got to ride much this winter with the cold or rain. We ate out on a deck, overlooking the gulf and I actually got hot while sitting in the sun. When I got home I hopped on my bicycle and rode to the gulf and back on the bike trail...about 10 mi round trip. I seem to always be walking the boys and haven't ridden out there this year, so figured I better do it before we leave here. It was a nice peaceful ride with hardly anyone out on the trail. I saw 4 deer next to the trail and all but 1 seemed pretty brave. Stopped at the end and enjoyed the view and quiet before heading back. I tried to stop halfway home to check my phone and the noseeums swarmed me! It was terrible, so had to keep going!

I am suppose to have a colonoscopy every 5 years because my dad and grandmother died of colon cancer. The getting ready for it is way worse than the procedure. I live an hour from the hospital and I'm always afraid I will have an accident on the way and not a car accident!
One year they told me there had been a bus accident and my doctor was tied up with that and I could wait to see if he would be back. I waited 3 hours before they told me they would have to reschedule. I ask them if they would like to see a grown woman cry. I can stand the gallon of liquid better than the salty stuff. One cup of the salty stuff and it starts coming back up.
