YEP---A SHORTER WEDNESDAY!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

YEP---A SHORTER WEDNESDAY!

Postby Nasoosie » Wed Mar 03, 2010 5:14 am

GOOD MORNING ALL!

The day IS shorter after that Chile earthquake----here's a link to the best explanation I could find by National Geographic:
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news ... tened-day/

I have a feeling none of us will notice this, however, given the teensy figure! It's just interesting to me that these shifts in our tectonic plates can still alter not only our concept of 'good old solid ground' but can also affect our concept of time! Also, I am fascinated by how the latest discoveries and investigations of our solar system have altered our perception of Pluto and revised our definition of what denotes a 'planet.' Life and our perception of it always keeps me as excited to see more as a kid on Christmas morning opening presents.

Our teacher will be absent today as he has to accompany his wife to Burlington Hospital spine doctors as she has scoliosis and will need surgery. Our room is just learning how to function with our new student in the mix, and it proves to be interesting today.

It's another warm day----about 25 degrees so far-----and windless. Coffee is hot and beckoning everyone to sit a while and fill us in on your day! Have a fun Wednesday!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Happy Wednesday....it's noon here. I don't know about shorter, but the days are still cold for Florida. Only 51* right now with a chilling wind.

The good news is that my repair held and the rv didn't leak in the heavy rain. Saved myself a little money there. Just in time to spend it on new tires for the RV. I've been pricing them today at 4 different places, mindful of the the manufacturing date codes. The prices were comparable, but found one place that can get them that were maunfactured in the 3rd week of 2010. Can't get much newer than that, so I ordered them. Will also get the rv serviced before traveling to the TX gtg.

Hope everyone is having a great day....warmer than mine.

A shorter day...I need longer days..LOL

Waiting for DS to finish up his tutoring session. Then heading back home to start school with Kodie.

Going to dig around the closet and see what I have for her US Post Card Study. I am hoping I have a notebook that we can use. I am also thinking that we might just use a 3 ring binder and page protectors. We can put the postcard and some information on an computer paper and then slide it into the page protector. Then I was thinking we could use tabbed dividers and section it off by regions. I have to look and decide how to divide the states into groups.

It is back to rainy day here. They were saying on the news that with the lack of snow and rain we have had this winter and we are most likely headed into a drier the normal spring. That we could have drought issues this summer. That the summer will most likely be hotter then normal. It is hard thing to think about living here in the PNW...we easily tire of all the wet and rain and welcome drier weather..but don't think about the flipside. What makes me nervous is we live in a dense forest area. Our HOA very much lacks the skills in the area of forestry management. They also are naive enough..to think it is so wet here a forest fire can not get a strong hold. Which is really sad..we do a good job of keeping the area around our house cleaned up. We clean up the downed branches and trees. That is really what needs to be done. Is just a good cleaning out of the forest floor and selective logging..to thin the trees out just a little.

Well I better get going, DS should be done in a few minutes.

Thought I would take a few minutes and check in. Yesterday was a full day for me. Worked at the church for two hours, then went and had lunch with a friend, sat in the restaurant from 11:30 to 2:30 ~ we had a great visit and I will miss her while we are gone. Then came home for a few minutes and then out the door again to have dinner with friends from our church. Gerald and Sandra are from Alabama and made us BBQ chicken with homemade BBQ sauce (it was delicious), a new kind of coleslaw and twice baked potatoes ~ it was yummy. We stayed and visited with them from 4:00 till 11:30 PM. Neither Ron or I slept well last night, not sure what was going on there. I have been up since 6:30 this morning and I was going to sleep in!

Today I have spent time on the computer, put a load of wash in, have two more to go and have cleaned the bedroom and bathroom. After I put the next load in I will work on the kitchen/'dining area and then the living room - sounds like a house but it's just the motor home. Should keep me busy for a few hours with the cleaning and laundry. I am taking advantage of being at a friends and using their washer/dryer - sure beats going to a laundromat.

Like Kristy said, it is cool and rainy this morning. Can't complain though since we have had a much milder winter than most folks.

Take care everybody and hope everyone is having a great day.

Ali

PS We should hear by Friday of when we are due in Portland to start the new adventure.

I got the day off today. I just got back from dropping Mocha off with her rescue lady. It is already feeling calmer around here. She gave me a nice big hard love bite when I tried putting her into the carrier! Poor thing just doesn't know what is going on. I hope she finds a nice, loving, quiet home to live in for a long time.

I have been doing some research and am thinking that a move to Arizona might be better at this time than California. There are more jobs (in hair cutting) and the rents are a lot cheaper there. I do have a friend who lives in Chandler, so I would know someone there. (and of course Ava lives there too!) I am not as crazy about AZ as I am about CA but it is a place to start (and get out of this God-forsaken cold, snowy climate!) I could eventually make the move to CA from there if I want to later. Just something else for me to think about...

Gotta get my laundry started and maybe make a trip downstairs to check out the exercise room...altho, I do feel a nap coming on...

Good afternoon!
Finally getting around to just sitting, not that I was doing all that much. I got to the dentist and am now the proud owner of a new porcelain crown. Picked up the mail on the way home and wrote a few checks. Then laundry and cleaning up the kitchen. Tell me? How does the house get so messy with just myself here!? I still have the vacuuming to get done. I put it off a few days after my angiogram. Just in case. ;) Didn't want to bleed out, you know. At the time it felt like a good excuse but the job doesn't get done if I don't do it.
Getting some light rain. Just enough to make me wait to mow grass. I'm not a fan of having to mow grass that's too tall.
Thinking I might go see a movie. I like a good thriller and Shutter Island looks to fit the bill. I'll check out the matinee times, helps to save a couple bucks when I can.
Barbie, AZ sounds like a good place to start. Nice to have a friend in the area, too. Sorry Mocha didn't work out.
Ava, good luck on the new route! Fingers crossed!

Today is the first full day at the park I'll be at for a month. Walked Peaches a good long walk this morning - have done 4 loads of laundry and have a couple more to do - but they'll have to wait. Was going to do the pepperoncini beef in the crockpot, but Jean needs to go into town this afternoon, so will do that tomorrow (I leave the crockpot outside, and didn't want to do that if gone for too long - someone might smell those delicious smells and come eat!).

Just watched a couple with a 5th wheel pull into a spot 3 times - finally were satisfied, walked around, decided they didn't want that spot and moved down to another. Did the same thing at that one, but this time the wife was getting things out, etc - when the husband called her - saw her put things away and he moved to a 3rd spot. I think they're going to stay. I don't think they noticed they are now right next to a site with a big dog fence - which is almost right outside the door to the 5th wheel. That could be interesting later when those dogs are out :)

Soos, thanks for that article - it's really interesting how one event can change things forever ---

And I'd pick AZ over California - but that's just me. I'd also prefer a less populated area - I don't think I ever want a big city again for any long periods of time. But I do love some of the cities, too. And if you should move to AZ and decide you really, really want CA - it's much closer to get to.

Off to put away the last of the washed laundry and get ready to head to town. Feels like it should be bedtime LOL - and I still have so much I want to do - need to really clean the floors.

If you go to see Shutter Island, please come back and give your impression. I read the novel and it is very different  I haven't decided whether or not to go see the movie...if nothing else just to see how they deal with the ending...... Enjoy! :)

Good afternoon ladies,

Spent the morning doing bills and cleaning. Oh how I wish the cleaning was once a month also. :D As Lenora said, if I don't do it, it doesn't get done. (My niece does do her share, which is nice.) Glad you are feeling better Lenora.

Barbie, I also think AZ sounds like a good option. This way, you will be close enough to visit CA and see if it is really where you want to be. Being away from an area and then returning sometimes isn't as we remembered it to be. I think you did right by Mocha. It does sound like she is a one pet house cat.

That's all for now, going to catch up on the posts. Linda
