Morning ladies,
Haven't been on for a while as I have been having some medical issues. Last Monday I was dizzy and my right hand had tremors. Both legs were shaky. I took myself to the "same day" Dr at my medical clinic and he told me he thought I had Parkinson's and he would refer me to a neurologist. That took me back, to say the least!! So I came home and fretted, not what I should have been doing, but it was a shock.
On Wednesday I went to Curves and worked out. Towards the end of the workout I got a feeling of heavy pressure in my breast bone area and shortness of breath. I came home and was undecided if I just overworked or if it was something else. I finally drove myself to the ER. Was there 6 hrs! They did the blood work to see if I had the enzymes to show I'd had a heart attack but that was clean. Chest x ray was fine. The Dr insisted that I check into the hospital so they could monitor my blood every 6 hrs as it sometimes takes the enzymes that long to show up, and also IF I were to have a heart attack it was best to be there. So I got checked in after another long wait as they were short of beds. I finally ended up in a private room. Wonder what the $$ of that will be?
Yet another Dr visited me and said he wanted me to have a nuclear stress test done the next day and it would probably show nothing and I'd get to go home. So I fasted, had the test done and was half way through eating a banana when a cardiologist came in and said to stop eating! She explained that there was a little something on the test that warranted checking into and wanted me to have an angiogram asap. The only problem is that the hospital I was in could do the angiogram, but if I needed stents, they weren't set up by law to do that cause they needed a cardio surgeon standing by and they didn't have one...BUT the other hospital did. At first they were going to do the test and if I needed stents they would then take me by ambulance to the other hospital to finish the procedure. After much time and hee hawing around the cardiologist said the other hospital could work me in that day and I should go by ambulance over there and have the entire procedure done...BUT that depended if they could get an ambulance there on time to truck me over!! A few tense minutes passed and they said to gather up my stuff that the EMTs were on there way up to my room to get me! It was a quiet ride over. At the price I'll get billed I should have arrived with sirens blaring!
I was taken right into the cardiology dept. SW Washington Hospital has one of the finest cardio depts around so I felt somewhat good about that. I signed my life away, almost literally! They cover every aspect so not to get sued. I met the Dr that was to preform the surgery. Nice looking man with a British accent. Kinda cool!

Signed more papers and then was prepped. I asked for the Brazilian trim. The nurse didn't laugh. Hmmm...
So I then was taken to have the angiogram done and it was a breeze. Well, for the most part. Wasn't fun that the nurse had to keep pressure on the puncture sight for 20 mins straight and I also had to lay flat for 4 hrs. Couldn't lift my head or right leg. I was then admitted to a room as it was the only way MY insurnace would cover the costs. The Dr came in a few hours later and said the angiogram was fine. No narrowing of any arteries BUT my heart beats to hard and the result is a thinkening of the walls, which needs to be addressed. SO I was released on Friday night to my daughter's care and am awaiting a call from the cardio's office to set up an ultrasound.
So that's my story! Still haven't heard anything from the neurologist dept. Not sure but feel all that might have been related to my heart issue. I feel that can wait as I want to take care of the heart issue first as my Mother eventually died from this same problem.
Oh, and after the angio I lost my voice and now have a full blown head/chest cold!! Geez!
Think good thoughts and anyone that's a praying woman, please remember me. Thanks!
