HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

GOOD MORNING TO US ALL!!
It's 36 degrees warmer here this morning than it was yesterday morning, at +18 rather than -18! However, the wind is howling out there, and the snow is coming down off and on, rather hard at times.
Yesterday's carnival parade was fun, as I got to see tons of friends I am down to meeting up with just this once a year these days. Everybody has demanding jobs, families, and any number of other obligations that keep us all too busy to get together in the winters.. It seems that everybody takes the day of the carnival to escape the trappings of their homes after a long winter of being stuck inside. It always amazes me how many show up for the event. And I am so ashamed to say I never even took my camera out to photograph anything! I left it back in the truck which was a long way from the spot I picked to watch the parade. Sigh---so much for good intentions! My friend and I decided we would be a member of the lawn chair ladies group next year, as both she and I have wished to be one forever! It takes practice and dedication to be one of the most beloved groups in the parade----everybody looks forward to the lawn chair ladies!
I'm not sure what's happening to day----I know Cedar and Kathy were coming over for a visit at one point, but since Cedar has been so sick now for a week or more, I am assuming she needs to stay at home and rest up before school begins again? Although, I think they have this following week off, which will be a good thing for her. I have but one more day to my vacation, and am dreading going back to the same old grind.
My plans are to update my GTG website today, FIRST THING! Then do a laundry, vacuum, and do a general cleanup on this house. If that wind dies down, I will take a ski of my trails with Molly. And, of course, watch Olympic events. Our Saranac Lake's Chris Mazdzer had a couple of really GOOD luge runs yesterday, and he was the first to have to compete on the now modified run after that poor guy wiped out and died the day before. He must have been really nervous to be the first one down, but it didn't show in his performance. Though he didn't win a medal, his finishing in the top ten was admirable. Our neighboring state of VT's young mogul skier, Hannah Kearny, won a gold medal in her competition! It was exciting!
We have 3 more local competitors to watch, two of which could come out in the top 3---Bill Demong in Nordic Combined, and Tim Burke in the Biathlon. Our 17-year-old Peter Frenette from my high school is so excited to just be in the ski jumping competition!
Coffee is done, and tastes good, so stop by and let us know what's up in your world.
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY EVERYONE!
Pretty snow!

Good morning all, and Happy Valentine's Day. It's chilly here again in southern FL-in the 30's this am and expected to warm into the 50's. Just been asked to participate in a tennis match at noon, so that changes my plans of doing some shopping. The good thing is that it will save me $$
Have enjoyed watching the Olympics and yesterday went with a friend to St. Armands Circle, had lunch, took her to two consignment stores (fruitful for her) and then we splurged on pedicures
tGM will be leaving next Wednesday to drive to the gk's home to help put up molding and paint in their new addition. I'm staying home. That's about it. Enjoying the easy maintenance of my new floor

good morning gals
not so cold this morning, in fact, I forgot to turn the furnace back up last
night after shutting it way down yesterday. I didn't even notice any chill
when I got up but soon discovered I was out of propane anyway. Turned
on the electric heater and will go get propane later on. Weatherman says
high of 76 today, I am so thrilled! Another day to get out in the yard.
Coffee is tasty and the dogs are still sleeping but I expect they will stir
soon enough. Have a great day and enjoy your Valentine day, its really
not something I celebrate but its hard to ignore.

Happy Valentine's day Everyone !!! I couldn't make it out to church this morning. We're snowed in here, and more coming tonight. All my winters up here, have not been like this one. So far my electric has stayed on. I hope it stays on as I look forward to the Olympics and would hate to miss them. We've been snowed in several times in the past couple of weeks. I'm beginning not to enjoy the pretty snow
Can't even think of going to the "Sunshine state" freezing down there too.
Take care, enjoy your day and most of all Stay safe and warm !

Happy Valentine's Day!
Poured rain all night here. Well, started around midnight. Will continue on and off all day. I'm sure the Olympics will get pretty much the same weather as they are just up the interstate from here. I was up till the wee hours watching the events. I was happy to see Apollo Ono win his 6th medal (total in all his olympics). He won it on a fluke as the China team was in first, second and third and the second and third guys got tangled and fell, giving Apollo and the other USA team member (a very young first timer), the silver and bronze. It was exciting to watch. I did see the guy from your are, Soos, too.
My two youngest GDs will be here soon. I'll have them overnight so their parents can have a nice Valentine's Day day/date. I think they are going to dinner at a winery tonight. We have quite a few in this part of the country. Two right here in my little town!
Oh, and my SIL will also be bringing my new lawn mower he picked up for me. My other one went belly-up and I wanted one just like it as it's the kind that has a rechargable battery and doesn't take gas. So much easier and less messy.
Well, need to get showered and some breakfast eaten. Enjoy your day and stay safe!

Soos, I saw Chris and heard Saranac, NY and thought this is one of the kids from your area. See, even if I don't post often, I am thinking of all of you. I watched Hannah win the gold medal. I don't see how those girls can do the moguls. It looks like it would really hurt the body.
Did I hear something about Peter being the youngest jumper?
It was the Koreans that wiped out so that Appolo Ono and JR could win the medals.
Watched all of it and had to sleep in this morning.

Hi Patty!
Yes, I do believe that Peter Frenette is the youngest ski jumper---he just turned 17, and was very shocked when he qualified for the Olympics---that was his dream in another 4 years!
I can't wait to see Bill Demong and Tim Burke compete, and am so hoping they do as well as they have been doing in recent world competitions. I think I mentioned that Bill, while swimming during a training year somewhere, cracked his skull while diving, and most believed he would never compete again!
The fireworks and closing of the carnival are tonight, but I think I'll opt for just sitting here where it's warm, watching the Olympics, and seeing the glows from the fireworks out of my front glass wall! Mandy, my daughter called, and asked if I wanted to go, and I told her I would see----she'll call later, and I think I'll pass as I hate the noise of fireworks.

Well it is actually afternoon here...we had an early more scramble...called find the escaped Guinea pig. He was located hiding under the computer desk down stairs.
It is very rainy and wet here today. Today will be mostly cleaning the house. Seems to be the Sunday thing..getting it nice and cleaned up for the week.
Tomorrow it will be an early day, as we are off to the mountain for snowboarding and skiing. I have not skied since High School and I am going to pick it up again. I am going to take a lesson. Kodie loves the snow, sledding and I think she would like to do adaptive skiing, but she needs a buddy. So I will spend the this season and next season learning and then when in couple of years we will put Kodie in the adaptive ski program...If she really likes it, it will also give her a Special Olympics sport for winter.

Though it's afternoon I thought I would check in with everyone. The rain is holding off and we have some sunshine...it is so nice to see and feel the sun's warmth. I woke with a headache this morning so skipped church and went back to sleep. Woke up feeling much better. Hubby has been sleeping off/on today as his bursitis or a pulled muscle is causing him lots of pain in his right upper arm.
We are supposed to be going to a going away party for a friends son, Zach is going into the Air Force one week from today. This evening we are babysitting for two of our adopted grandboys so their folks can go out for a special dinner for Valentine's Day celebration.
That's all from this neck of the woods. Hope everyone is having a great day.

GOOD AFTERNOON SISTAHS!!! LOL
Yep I'm late. Didn't really sleep in, I did get up this morning but I was wrapped up in a game I'm playing on Face Book called Yoville. LOL Silly little game but fun.
Beautiful sunny day here! I'm loving it. Kelly is off taking a shower, when she gets back we will be making a quick run into town. That is about the extent of our days plans.
Did up corned beef, cabbage and carrots. OMG! It was soooooo good. We both made piggies of ourselves. Kelly says I need to do that again really soon. LOL
Hope everyone has a great day today. Be sure and do it safely too!!!
Love to all
ps. will try to remember

Well V-day started out slow for me...was so tired from playing golf yesterday (my first ever!! and I did purdy good (got 4 Pars), but ended with an 80 (+26) on the course...still was very good and my honey was proud of me...that's all that mattered...well that and not looking like an arse doing it
any way...I was sooooooooooo tired last night, and couldn't sleep so I guess when I finally did fall into a deep sleep, I ended up sleeping 1/2 my day away today.
Thinking my body was telling me something. Felt good, but still hate wasting half a perfectly good day. Well hubby came home from playing golf at Oceanside, and looked at me and said, "Well, you up to going golfing again?" and not to let on how sore I was and that I could be construed as a pansey, I pulled up my big girl panties (Owie Ouch Oooh hurt to even move), and defiantly replied, "Heck Yeh I'm ready to go..." He just looked at me and said "Okay, lets go" So we grabbed a bite to eat, and enjoyed the summer like weather/temps (80+) of the day. How wonderful....took me awhile to loosen up, but I scored another 80 again today so I guess I get brownie points for not getting worse
Now everyone is off to beddy bye and I can't sleep. Catching some of the Olympics, played some games and chatted with friends/family on Facebook, and am hoping I'll get too pooped to pop eventually. Maybe it's that ding dang Chocolate Lover's concoction I had them make for me at Cold Stone tonight...WOW...so much for working off the pounds from yesterday and today's golfing work out
Here's hoping your week starts off as wonderful as today's special day. Take care.

Donna, sounds like you did great at golf. Just wondering tho, how many holes did you play? 80 would be an incredibly good score for a 18 hole, par 72 course. It sounds from your score of 26+ that the course would be a total par of 56, so wondering how many holes that would be considering most holes are between par 3 and 5. 4 pars on your first time out is awsome!
I have been playing golf for about 10 years and love it! I only play 9 holes on the league I play on and usually score about 40 to 45 on a par 29 course. I don't take it too seriously, but just play for the fresh air, exersize and social aspects.
Barbie
OK, I just looked on-line and I'm thinking you played at Emerald Isle Golf Course? That is 18 holes but is an 'executive' course so is a par 56. That makes more sense. Most executive courses (all of them around here) are only 9 holes. I like those short courses so much better! So on a course like that, my score would be close to yours (80-90) so you still did very well, considering it was your first and second time out! Keep it up and enjoy!!! I can't wait to get back out on the courses again!
