A WEDNESDAY LIKE A FRIDAY FOR ME

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

A WEDNESDAY LIKE A FRIDAY FOR ME

GOOD MORNING ALL!

Last work day of the week for me, so this will be my last early morning post until next Tuesday! It's warm today at about 15 above zero this morning, and no snow at all yet for us. The big storm is still way south of us and is destined to remain there. I wish we were getting some of that snow. The most we might pick up will about 2 inches.

The test given the period following the one I helped my student study for yesterday (while being observed) was way too hard for all of my kids, and I feel all but one may have failed it. I may get a copy of the test and modify it by having a list of the words they need to know in order to answer the questions. The combination of having to recall the words, and think of how to try to spell the words well enough to make sense (mainly names of human bones and joints) and then fill them into the blanks (reasoning) is just too much for them all. I will try the same test with a separate list of the pertinent words for them to refer to. My girl was at least awake, although in a silly mood (which, for her is very good, as she has been extremely depressed and suicidal in the past) for the observed study session. The teacher doing the observation said he has never seen the girl as happy before, so I suppose that is a good thing. But no connections were taking place! Sigh---I guess I have to be happy with tiny accomplishments.

Coffee is hot and fresh and tastes extra good to me this morning. I know many of you are getting socked by blowing and heavy, wet snow again, so be careful out there, shoveling that stuff around. Take plenty of coffee breaks! Check in with us when you are able. It's a pay day and a jeans-wearing day, and like a Friday, so I am a happy camper this morning!

Sarah thanks for clearing up my confusion, and now I DO remember your having tests a while ago. I will go online and do some research on your 'smoldering'-type of ailment, to learn some more about it. I will keep my fingers crossed that you will SURELY be one of those persons whose body puts out those smoldering embers and arrests the disease on its own!

Have a safe and happy day everybody.

Happy travels!

Yay Soosie,.... enjoy your mini-vacation! And kudos to you for a successful observation,.. obviously your interaction with that girl gives her happiness. Way to go!

Last night as I was at the boy's basketball game, their final home game and "Senior Night" for four boys. One of which sang the national anthem as well as any celebrity. I am so proud of all our students... for a small school (273, K-12), there is tons of talent and success stores there.

No snow expected here. Perhaps a "dusting".... so off I go to school today.... have a wonderful day everyone!

Morning all...I am looking forward to the 4 day weekend the kids have. Maybe I can catch some extra sleeping in ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ's.
I am so not a morning person. I think in part I am a night owl. So I am rarely in bed until midnight-1 am ish. So this getting up at early..although I admit there have been some mornings that I take DD and her friends to the bus stop and then come home and go back to bed.

The weather here today is suppose to be cooler..then it has been. We have had a warm January and February is starting out they way.

To be honest this area needs it to cool off. They have been trucking in snow for the olympics. Using trucks and helicopters. They were very smart in one way...they made lots of extra snow when the weather was cold in Now-Dec and then stored it in the higher elevations..under tarps. So now they are bringing all that snow back down and bringing some of it in for other places.

I have no idea what it is going to like around here over the next few weeks. I guess we will see if we really get anything..traffic, tourists, etc. To be honest I would not be crossing back and forth across the border..unless I had to.

You all have a great day.

Soos does it make you also wonder, since I am guessing that most of the students are on medicationS (say more that one) , what behaviors are effects of the initial disability and what are the side effects of the medications. And the big question, does anyone really worry about that. The doctors don't see a child enough to KNOW what normal is for that particular child. As long as most of the alarming behaviors are not being expressed: for example, suicide attempts or physically acting out...they think everything is alright. But I have seen children with verbal abilities rendered mute through their medications.....One oof the staff wnet with the mother to the doctor, because she knew the doctor would not listen to her concerns by themselves.

Cedar, I love when you speak about your school community. I think that is a place where I could have stayed all 35 years and been happy. What a difference a school such as yours can make for a child. Knowing that everyone knows them so they can't really get away with much and knowing that the people around them believe in their potential. Definitely a great environment to give children roots.

Snow it fading around here but I haven't heard form my friend whether or not she will brave the drive from Columbus, OH to Indianapolis this afternoon ot tomorrow. We may just have to blow off Thursday's show and go from there. Everyone stay safe and dry and warm. Now to get a second cup of tea.

Good Morning!

Soos: Glad you have a much needed long break from school starting today. Hope you get to do something fun. I'm looking forward to your photos of the ice palace.

Tina: Are you sure Izzy really wants to brave all that snow? If so, please be very careful out there. How much snow did you get?

Skies still gloomy here and high winds but it is dry, or at least nothing falling from sky at present. Have been watching the weather channel this morning. All of that snow in the northeast is amazing - beautiful from this distance, but probably not to those caught in its path. I need to take care of a few errands today but since I have a nice warm spot here at home, leaving it may be a hard sell.

Stay safe and warm whatever you have planned for the day..

Good morning on this chilly morning from Blaine. I was able to sleep in till 8:20 this morning so I am feeling refreshed and ready to go. I am taking a friend to the doctor this morning and then this afternoon we are tackling the big storage unit. Yesterday Ron made a trip to the recyclers, the Habitat for Humanity Homestore and the dump. Today we will be going through more boxes of books and restacking some of the boxes that are in storage. We hope to be done with the little storage unit by the wekend...yay...we will save $70 a month by not having two storage units.

Glad to read so far that everyone is doing fine. Hope the big snow storm bypasses everyone on here and those it affects that it does not cause any harm or problems.

Take care and have a great day!

GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!!!

Whew, I'm making it under the noon wire. LOL Rained lightly all night long, was still sprinkling when I got up this morning. Had 15 emails to go thru, responded and answered all of them. Geeze that's a lot of email over night for me. Took some little time so when I looked at the clock here on the laptop I figured I had better get my morning coffee post done and submitted.

Read in one of the postings that someone? Sarah? had been watching the Weather Channel. I sure don't watch much TV even when it's available and of course we have no TV here. But I too use to watch the Weather Channel to see what was going on weather wise elsewhere and the shows about weather disasters. That and about the only other channels I would watch were HGTV and Animal Planet. Kinda miss a TV right at the moment. The web is a great thing but ya just don't get the same coverage, visual or knowledge from the web. ~sigh~

Gonna be campsite cleaning day again here. OMG how this screen house gets this messy is amazing. But it always seems that the smaller spaces need cleaning more often. Got to keep after the smaller spaces all the time. In all honesty it only takes a few things out of place or left laying around to make it look horrible in here. Next week we will be picking up the new screen house from layaway. Will need a couple of new tarps to go with it too. Will also be buying a camp table so that much of our stuff can be cleaned off the picnic table. Oh goodness that will be so great!!!

Ok coffee is sitting here waiting on the next cup to be offered to it. I've had my first 2 cups so now I'm adding Caramel Macchiato creamer to it. YUM Grab a cup and have a seat.

For goodness sake I sure do hope everyone is doing their best to struggle thru and remain safe in the snow zone!!! Stay warm and dry everybody!!!

Love to all
