Its Monday!!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Its Monday!!

Postby avalen » Mon Jan 18, 2010 8:18 am

Good morning ladies, its a holiday Monday of course and I've got the day off. Spent the
majority of my weekend doing chores, researching my crochet stuff as I learn new
things and doing more prep work for my kitchen remodel. It was a nice weekend, and
I even got out in the yard and did some clean up as its predicted to rain for the next
4 days or so.
Coffee is good this morning, and a little cream of wheat hits the spot.
Dogs are up now and wantin their breakfast so off to take care of that and then I'll
catch up on posts.
Have a great day and be safe.

Dogs have been walked and no 'gators seen waiting for breakfast :) turned the generator on so that I can check e-mail and a few sites for possible stays for the night. The sun is up and I have finished off the peanut butter bagel and the diet coke.....forward we go. Hope everyone has a good day. Herschel wants pictures for today so I had better check the battery for the camera....see you later.

Good Morning EVERYONE!

How nice to find the room open already this morning-----when my rooster alarm went off at its usual time of 4:30 it was SO nice to pick it up and shut it off, turn over, and go back to sleep! I've been awake since 7 now, but watching the news and snuggling with Molly who wasn't quite ready to get up either! I am so NOT looking forward to having to get up in the dark again tomorrow.

It's just a bit below freezing here today, and the skiing should be really good as long as the freezing rain and sleet that is happening in VT stays away from here. I am hoping to get the rest of my ski trail packed and grooved so Molly and I can take a regular loop today. I had forgotten how much I do love to ski, and it's been quite a while that I felt confident out there due to my inner ear dizziness stuff of the past couple of years. My balance with those two ski poles is actually better than usual, now, and it's so wonderful to be able to slide along without feeling so unbalanced and dizzy.

Each day I am feeling better with my little cold I got from my Typhoid Mary students, and am coughing less and less, so I'll be back to normal by school tomorrow. Mid term tests are next week, and I have no idea what my schedule will be yet at this point. February will be a more normal month.

We are supposed to begin to construct our ice palace castle this upcoming week, and I sure do hope the weather cooperates by staying below freezing. I might volunteer with a bunch of us teachers to be a 'slusher' which is the mixing of snow and water for the mortar that holds the huge blocks of ice in place. They had already plowed off the ground and piled up the snow to use for the slush last week, and I imagine they have already begun to saw out the ice blocks from the shallow bay near the palace site. Januarys have been notoriously 'unpredictable' at best for constructing the ice castles of late.

I am having the last of the Blueberry Cobbler coffee here, and will probably make another pot of Hazlenut to round out my day-----I think I'll make Decafe Hazlenut so I won't go into overdrive! I will also stick a load of clothes into the washer and have something to eat before I try the ski trails again.

I also need to practice my fiddling skills today.

Time to get busy here now. Stop by and let us know what's up in your world....we love to hear from you all each day. Happy Martin Luther King Day!

I hope you can get some pictures of your Ice Palace during construction. That sounds really neat.

Good-morning !!!

I arrived home late Friday afternoon, so guess its time I checked in. Not having any real responsibilities for a stick house for 2 months was wonderful. Sure got dumped back into them quick on arrival here!! Had busted water pipes, when I turned the water back on. NOt one place but several. Really got cold here, as elsewhere, first time I have had pipe problems.

Took the r.v. right down to my guy, Sat. morn. so its fixed up for the rest of the winter here, which seems like its going to be a really rough one. Like the plumber said "like we used to have here" Well, I have liked the ones I have had here, :o not too sure of having "like they used to have".

Its beautiful outside, has been rainy since I got home, so today looks great to me and cold doesn't seem as cold outside, when I see the Sun. Have to finish unloading the r.v., and get the laundry going. Most of it is still in the r.v., no need to haul it out until I could wash it up.

I hope you all have a good day, stay warm, and dry, wherever and whatever conditions you're in

Safe and Happy travels to those who are fortunate enough to still be on the road!!
Carol

I've noticed your pic too, Soos, really a nice one. I thought it looked just you did in person, no need to say date it was made ;)

Good morning everyone!

Carol... so sorry to hear about this mess.... was there no heat on in the house? Here when we go away in cold weather we always leave the heat turned on, but of course at a lower temp such as 55° to avoid that. Hope it's fixed quickly with a minimum of mess and expense.

Overcast day here,... spit snow for a few minutes but quit. Today I'll help Kath move some bookcases and her computer desk. We're slowly getting this done. Sharing this house will be a good thing for both of us, especially financially. She'll be totally out of her place by 3/1.

Today is a day to honor one of my heros,... Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr..... a great man.

Hope you are all having a fine day!

Morning! Coffee tastes good but my eyelids are still at half mast. We had horrific winds last night starting around 10ish and lasting until around 4AM. It was really howling and branches were flying and slapping my house. Really scared me when one hit the glass patio doors! As I live backed up to an old growth forest I'm always concerned that a huge pine tree will topple on the house! God had His angels out last night as I and my neighbors are all fine. There were some power outages in the Portland area, and they are showing some trees on homes. What a mess they have!
I'm leaving here in about 30 mins. to meet up my with my DD and 2 GDs at one of the I-5 exits, as she in oh her way to work and the girls have the day off from school, so I'll watch them for the day. My SIL will be getting off work and going to bed about the time they are getting here so it would have been a long day for them trying to be quiet as not to wake him. Anyway, it's my privilege to have them as they are great kids and I get a day to play! :D
Ok need to scoot! Sorry to hear about your busted pipes, Carol. Soos, glad you are getting better with each new day.

GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!!!

It's Monday for sure here. :x Holidays are nice to have to get a day off work but they can play havoc and make huge problems too. Oh, and the rain is an added bonus too!!!!! :|

Of course with it being a holiday all the flippin banks are closed and so are the AZ employment offices. We checked on the status for our unemployment deposits. They have always deposited on Mondays and are paid out on Tuesdays. Well not this week. They will not deposit until tomorrow and probably not be available until Wednesday. We never gave it a thought (we didn't know about the holiday, not keeping track of such) and have only paid for 2 nights here. So tomorrow morning if indeed the funds are not in our accounts we will have to pack up and move out of here and go boondocking somewhere. We are tapped out financially until unemployment checks are available. It cost a whole lot more than we expected and were prepared for to get out here. Between the cost of gas which is higher than it was and for whatever reason, the Blazer is getting really crappy gas mileage. Have no idea why? Except when we left FL we loaded the trailer differently by putting more stuff in the front of it and so higher. We did that to totally clean out the Blazer to have the back area to sleep in. But we are feeling the pinch now. So for right now where we will be tomorrow night is UP in the air. :x  :x

Ya'll know what they say about "Hindsight". Well it carries a he77 of a bite!!!

Hope ya'll have a great day. Stay dry, warm and safe.

Love to all

Good morning ladies!

I made it back to my stick house Sunday night - 13 days without my computer and I was too tired to even log on last night.

Reluctantly left Tina in Keton Beach Saturday morning. I drove in heavy rain most of the way to Albany, GA but arrived with plenty of time to visit with brother-in-law and his family for a while before bed time. Got an early start Sunday morning toward home. Fought periods of heavy rain, 30 mph cross winds, and clouds so close to the ground they seemed like fog. The more north and west I went, the worse it got. My heart sank as I crossed the small mountain going into Birmingham and the visibility dropped to a few hundred feet. I hate driving in Birmingham any time but the rain and fog made it miserable. My hands were cramping from tight grip on steering wheel. However, I am quite proud of myself for having made it all the way back without any unintended side trips (i.e., I did not get lost).

When I arrived in town, made a quick stop to pick Nicky up. This was the longest we've been apart and I was afraid he might not remember me or want to leave as he had a play mate where he stayed while I was gone. No problem - he was glad to see me. We then made another quick stop at grocery for milk, bread and eggs.
I did unload most of the van last night but have to admit, everything is still sitting in the garage. Spent the remainder of evening just snuggling with the dog.

In spite of the weather in FL and poor driving conditions going home, I am sooooo glad I made the trip. Not only did I get to meet more of wonderful ladies who make up this forum, I made a major improvement in building my confidence in fact that I may actually be able to travel again. My body did not go into failure mode and I managed to easily cope with the few unexpected annoyances that arose. Also learned a lot more about RVs and RVing. My only major regret is that I did not know about any of this sooner.

I don't have time to catch up on other posts yet - maybe tonight. Just want to welcome new members and wish a Happy birthday to any I've missed while away. Also to thank Liz for all she did to make the gtg such a success and make me feel so welcome even if I don't have an RV.

Think I have a few photos to add for the gtg and time at the fishing beach. That too will have to wait until tonight.
The only major handicap in life is a bad attitude!

Don't buy gas here in Blythe as it's horribly expensive. Just drive up a couple of miles on I-10 over the Arizona border. There's a Flying J with gas $.40 a gallon cheaper.
