THURSDAY AND COLDER

GOOD MORNING ALL!
It's about 10 degrees and falling up here in the mountains, below freezing throughout most of FL, and snow predicted in many states. BUT hang on----- it's to get colder yet by Saturday, all over! The crops in the southern states are really fighting for their lives, as are the farmers. It's still snowing up here, and I see that we got another 3 to 4 inches overnight. I have no clue what the total snowfall might be now, but it's deeper than I can remember having at this house since January of 1979. I remember that year because I was about to give birth to my son and decided to go for a snowmobile ride on the property. The snowmobile quit, I stupidly had no snowshoes with me, and when I stepped off into the snow, I found it was waist-deep! I had to crawl/plow my 9-month pregnant body home through it all for about a quarter of a mile. I hollered at the people sitting around the kitchen table, chatting and totally ignoring the fact that I was WAY later getting home than I should have been, and asked why, WHY hadn't somebody taken another snowmobile to come looking for me! Weldon was born just a few days later! Sigh----good thing I was in tip-top shape back then! Yes, it was an idiotic move on my part!
Back to the grind today, and I hope to find out what the school board agreed upon in regard to compensation for my sick days accrued. Either way, I will be sure to get my due reward for not having ever abused the use of them.
Those in FL will be awakening to frozen things, I am sure, and better have some WARM clothes to get out for several days! I just hope all your pipes and water lines don't freeze and burst, and that your furnaces are in top working order! I know the furnace in my house down there where my son and Melissa are living is cranked up, and they are nice and warm inside while ice is forming outside in Orlando. We have some members battling this cold: Kath, Liz, and many others heading to Liz's GTG today! Luckily, Liz was able to get a large, heated cabin for at least one night in which they can all meet to get warm and eat together. I am thinking they had best reserve it for another couple of nights by chipping in some money, as I suspect it will such a relief from the bitter cold. I am seeing temps of 21 degrees in the FL panhandle for today.
I will be staying close to my wood fire this weekend, as our predictions are for temps way below zero by Saturday----probably will hit -30 where I live, with NO chill factor. Guess I'd better get some more wood onto the covered porch for the next few nights. It's getting to be a pain having to shovel out the wood piles every day now.
Coffee is Hazlenut and nice and hot, so pull up a chair and warm your hands and feet while telling us about your plans for the day! I can't wait for some pics of Liz's doings! Happy Thursday!
Drive carefully today, ladies, as you head for frigid FL!
