TWOSDAY TUESDAY
Posted: Tue Jan 05, 2010 5:20 am
GOOD MORNING ALL!
(Twosday because second school day of this new year. I see that we missed Monday coffee hour altogether!)
It remains at about 9 degrees above zero here, and it's STILL snowing! I shoveled about another 4 inches of the white stuff off my front deck yesterday after school, and there's another 2, or so, out there this morning. Now, when it warms up a tad, skiing will be wonderful, but I will need to pack my trails again, as the snowshoe trails I made and that Melissa went over will be buried.
The poor campers in FL are feeling cold and depressed, and I can't blame them. They certainly cannot say that FL is hot and humid, however! That will still be my destination for a winter's stay some one of these years.
I am taking tomorrow off to renew my driver's license and have a free afternoon. I'm getting the enhanced driver's license so I can feel free to enter Canada and get back home if I so choose. We are so close to the Canadian border up here that it will be a good thing to have. Also, if/when I head for the west coast once again to visit my daughter in Portland, OR, I would start the trip by going through Canada to Sioux St. Marie---way shorter and prettier than going around the Great Lakes. I am just hoping my distance vision is still good enough to read the eye charts!
I have over 200 sick days I am going to petition the school board for part of if/when I retire---if I had 15 years in the position I am in now, I would get 34% of the value of the number of sick days over 100 that I have accrued---I have over 200. IF they will allow me to do that, even though I would have only 14 years in this current position, I would seriously consider telling them goodbye. IF they won't allow me to do that, I will tell them outright that I will take as many of those days as I can between now and when I retire----and that would cost them way more money, as they will have to hire a sub for me as well as pay me. Our contract is worded as such that I need those 15 years in order to realize any money from my good health and non-use of sick days.
Must figure out how to get this request underway today, and type up my petition, or document.
Saturday I will have my truck serviced at the Ford dealer's, get a quote for new tires and for a waranty extension, OR get a quote for a new truck replacement at the same payment amount I am making now. It will have to be the exact same color, too, as my new camper cap is made for this color! If Ford has any old 2009 truck deals, I would go for one of them.
Our Bronx-visiting student spent all of yesterday in internal suspension due to a brawl he got into before vacation, so the classroom was unusually quiet! Also, the screamer from next door was not yet back from her vacation, so it was almost tolerable between our two rooms!
I went to bed early last night and let the wood fire go out, so it's a bit chilly in here this morning. Coffee is hot, however, and tastes good, so stop by and let us know about your day! There are even some pistachio muffins left! As I have said before, I look forward to reading your posts when I get home from school.
School day one in January 2010 has come and gone----YIPPEE!!
