WIND CHILL -23 THURSDAY

GOOD MORNING TO ALL!

Temperature is standing at nearly 10 below this morning, so not as bad as it could be. Of course, there is always tomorrow, which is supposed to be our coldest day of this latest cold front! Wind chill could be quite another thing out there, as it's rather windy. (10 to 25 MPH) I know it's cold when Molly tries to hold all four feet up at once when she first goes out! I got up in the night to stoke my wood stove, so it's not too bad in here this morning.

I'm having one of those blank mornings where I'm staring at my monitor screen to try to figure out what to type----a thousand things are going through my head but none of them are together enough to put them into words. Call the Dept. of Motor Vehicles, (my driver's license is up for renewal), pack the trailer registration to pay via computer at school where I can print out the receipt as my printer here is out of ink, have to finish my birch bark sign today, buy a nightlight to stick into the plug on the outside of the barn so I can tell from house deck when power is off, make sure enough wood in here for tomorrow morning, check temperature in the room in the cellar where all the pipes are and turn on heaters down there if necessary, start truck early so I can get through the frozen doors and see out of the windows, make sure all bills are up to date, finish making bed upstairs for kids coming the weekend after this upcoming one, what shall I buy for groceries, shovel off deck again, sweep off woodpiles, order new ink for my printer, or just get a new printer when I next get to Sam's Club or WalMart, decide what to wear to school today after a hot bath....on and on and on.

Anyway, coffee is now hot, so am getting some to warm my hands and gut---and yes, somebody said that that first sip of coffee is always the best of all each day! Another inexplainable phenomenon!

Have a fun day wherever you may be, and remember to learn to dance in the rain!

Good morning Soos, and all to come!

Not too much happening here again. I am doing the laundry I said I was going to do yesterday, though.

Carol, sorry to hear you have the blues. Hope things will brighten up for you soon. I too am looking forward to the gtg. That's sure to help!

Echo, I hope Conner is on the mend today. I've been praying for him. Also hope you've gotten at least one vehicle running to get to the hospital, work, etc. I know it's tough times for your family right now, and we care. (((hugs)))

Wishing you all a day to warm your hearts, and extremities too.

GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!!!

Good grief Soos!! You had better get Molly's winter woolies on her. It's cold here too but it's only +20f outside my door, nothing like yours. Brrrrrr It sure didn't take Shade long at all to do her morning thing today. Her little hoohaa must have gotten chilled from the frosty grass. She squatted and that did it! She was ready to go back inside! Being a Pomeranian she's built low to the ground of course. She's back in bed now with her 'sissy' all snuggled up. ;) Suppose to go up into the high 40's today. OH, heat wave today! Then rain again for tomorrow and snow showers for the rest of the week. I'll believe that when I see it.

Sat last night and wrote out some Christmas cards. I only have maybe 8 or 10 to do. Use to send out a bunch of them but not any more. Between people dying, moving and losing track of them and friendships drifting apart card sending is way down. Not to even think about the cost any more. Sheesh! The cost of mailing something out keeps going up and up and yet the postal service can't understand why people don't mail cards and letters like they use to. Plus email and e-cards on computers are so much cheaper.

Have high hopes that Conner will be coming home today! YAY!!!!! :D It's been way to quiet around here with the kids and Conner gone. David has today off from work and he said he will be working on both Blazers, mine and his. Will be really glad to have a vehicle back again. Might just steal David's truck to run to the grocery store to pick up some stuff and hit the ATM. I am ordering a cord of firewood as a Christmas present for the kids. Found two ads on Craigslist with good prices for cord wood. It's more than I had really planned to spend on Christmas but the kids need it and it's a present that will do good for them. ;)

Gasp! Can't hardly believe that Christmas is only a week away. Where has the time gone? Kelly and I still have to take a few outfits we bought for Conner back and exchange them. He's already out growing the 0-3 month sizes. So hopefully we will be able to find the same ones in 3-6 month sizes. Little critter has already grown 2 inches in 6 weeks. :D Will be really interesting to see how tall he gets. Jenny is 5' 4" and David is about 5' 8" or 5' 9". Both of my older 1/2 brothers took after the men on Mom's side of the family and were 6'. Me? I took after Mom and that's it. I'm 5' 2 3/4", but at least I was taller than Mom who was 5' 2". She was a force to reckoned with tho! When we kids would get out of hand or do something really bad she would go on a tangent and all of us would run for cover. Dad would just calmly sit back and watch the show!!! 8-) Only person I ever saw my Mother back down from was my Dad. He was probably the most laid back, easy going person I've ever known in my life. But when he put his foot down everybody listened! I honestly say that I can only remember him losing his temper 3 times. I wish I took after my Dad where my temper is concerned. But NOOOO! I had to take after Mom with the Irish, Dutch, Indian side of the family. I have learned to keep a really tight grip on my temper tho. So I am ahead of the pack! ;)

Ok, enough flapping of the fingers. Need to check the wood stove and play firebug. Get it warmed up in here. And Honey dog went outside to do her thing so it's time to get her back inside. It's way to cold for her to stay out to long. I don't want her laying on the cold frosty ground or the front porch. She's the same age in human years as Shade but being a lab/pitt mix she of course is aging faster. So her 'older' bones feels the cold more.

Hope everyone has a great day today. Stay warm, cool and dry, which ever you need. And remember to stay safe in whatever you do or where ever you go.

Love to all

Don't know the outside temp, but inside it was 55' so probably about the same outside. I woke up to a beautiful dawn, the lake was colored pink reflecting the color of the sky. Today I take Beth to the hearing aid place - you remember when you get your eyes checked, they go back and forth, is this better or is this better. I asked Beth if they yell, can you hear me now, in different tones. Well I thought it was funny.

Good Morning All - surprisingly enough it gets pretty cold here in El Fuerte at night. Have to put the heater on in the a.m. to take the chill off - then run the ac the rest of the day to cool it down. Have to wear long pants and long sleeved shirts the bugs are so bad - I can't use spray on my skin - it burns - have tried many kinds. Right now my legs look like hamburger - have never had this problem before. But this little town is right on a river......Bill found a churro man so we've been here 4 days now! Saw a Christmas processin last night in town. Girl on a burro, boy leading it - 3 kings following. And lots of people with candles. All proceeded by a car with a VERY loud speaker playing Christmas Carols.
Probably will leave here tomorrow for??????
Safe travels and good weather to all

Carol you probably can't get it down there but I hear 'Skin so Soft' from Avon is a good bug deterrent! Also I know some say that fabric sheets for the dryer works well too. Could try stuffing a few in your pockets? Sorry the bugs are eating ya alive!!! :x

Oh yes. I had forgotten about Skin so Soft. 1 Tablespoon in a bottle of water and spray it on. Works great and as its meant for skin it shouldn't burn, Carol.

..

We were on our first visit to Tonga (think MOSQUITOS). I took a quick shower, dried off, and applied a nice, all-over layer of Avon's Skin So Soft.

Went outside and before I could sit down and before the lotion soaked in, I lost count of how many mosquito bites I had!!

I'm not a big fan of that product. Lots of people swear by it, though.

Gag? I don't think so. Skeets probably never come near you because they don't eat Dufus.

No, they just eat Hommie first because he bathes in cologne/aftershave! I guess he's enough to fill them up, LOL!

Someone told me Listerine and water in a spray bottle work great. I tried it once and didnt get any bites that night camping but they usually arent too fond of me anyway LOL Seems like a quick and easy fix if it works. She swears by it.
