good morning everybody
I've been up way early, got over the my rv while it was still cool to get some
work done. A friend from work brought over a swampcooler LOANER, and I
needed to get the platform built to hold it up to the window. I put it at the
rear of rv so it will blow straight in that kitchen window. So I'm all ready
to get it up there, just can't lift it, and its not even that heavy, its a very
small one but its sort of awkward. Gotta go round up some help, hmmmm
wonder if the poolboy is busy cleaning the pool. Soon as I get this thing up
there I can cool this place down and get me and dogs home again. Its just
so inconvenient to stay at daughters, although I'm very grateful and she
knows that, the puppers have to stay in their kennel most of the time.
Ok, getting a cup of coffee and off to find some muscle.

An evaporative cooler (also swamp cooler, desert cooler, and wet air cooler) is a device that cools air through the simple evaporation of water. Evaporative cooling differs from air conditioning by refrigeration and absorptive refrigeration, which use vapor-compression or absorption refrigeration cycles. In the United States, the use of the term swamp cooler may be due to the odor of algae produced by early units.[1] Air washers and wet cooling towers use the same principles as evaporative coolers, but are optimized for purposes other than air cooling.

Evaporative cooling is especially well suited for climates where the air is hot and humidity is low. For example, in the United States, the western/mountain states are good locations, with swamp coolers very prevalent in cities like Denver, Salt Lake City, Albuquerque, El Paso, Tucson, and Fresno where sufficient water is available. Evaporative air conditioning is also popular and well suited to the southern (temperate) part of Australia. In dry, arid climates, the installation and operating cost of an evaporative cooler can be much lower than refrigerative air conditioning, often by 80% or so. However, evaporative cooling and vapor-compression air conditioning are sometimes used in combination to yield optimal cooling results. Some evaporative coolers may also serve as humidifiers in the heating season.

thanks Mitch, but,... what does it look like? how does it actually work? this northern gal hasn't a clue!

Kinda like how your body uses perspiration (and the resulting evaporation) to cool itself...

Ava, hope you get the swamp cooler up and running soon. It's just too hot to be w/o any kind of AC. I'm sure you will find some helpful person without a problem.

Got the lawn mowed yesterday and today attempted to use the weed whacker. I had three fights with it and lost all three, so it went back into the garage. I really hate yard work. I have called it quits on doing anything domestic for the rest of the day.
