Happy Mother's Day!

I had a near disaster yesterday! :o I looked out the window to check on the baby doves and saw that the whole plastic shelving unit the nest was in, had blown over in the high winds, even tho I had it taped securely to the trailer! I ran out and checked on the nest and it was on the ground and destroyed! Mom was on the ground and moved away when i came up to the nest. Then I saw the babies who had fallen into a corner of the shelf the nest was on. They were alive, so I quickly put the nest back together as best I could in the little flower container and gently put the babies into it, and placed it under the trailer in the shade. Then I went to work to fix the shelving unit. Instead of the 5 shelves, I just put back together 3 shelves so it would be lower and less likely to be affected by the winds. Then I put two large rocks on the bottom shelf to weigh it down good. I covered the top shelf with a small plastic bin cover for rain and sun protection. Each time I had to run back inside to get something (tape, scissors, etc), I came back to find the mom sitting on the nest under the trailer, so that was good. I think she is pretty used to me by now and knows I am not a threat. I finally put the nest/container on the middle shelf and cleaned up the rest of the debris (rest of shelf, and lattice I had put on for shade, etc), and went back inside to cool off. I checked a little bit later and saw mom was back on the nest, so that is good. I will check again today to make sure all is well. Because the nest is so much lower and closer to the slide-out, I can no longer see the nest from the window, but I can check it outside from a little ways away without disturbing mom. Now that the nest is weighted down good and lower to the ground, it should be much more stable (I hope!). The winds don't usually come from the southwest like they were yesterday so the nest is usually protected from the winds, but yesterday, the wind was directly hitting that side of the RV with a vengeance! I hope the babies are OK and will both survive. Hard to tell when they are so little.

The rest of the day wasn't quite so crazy. I get so frustrated tho with the TV and trying to find shows I want to watch while going thru a million listings! No channels, just show listings. Several weeks ago, after several frustrating hours of trying, I finally was able to get live golf on to watch. I forgot to write down how I got it, so when I looked for it yesterday, I had forgotten what I did to get it before. So it took me almost an hour of searching thru apps, etc, to finally find it again. This time, I did write it down so I can watch it today. I miss having cable TV. It was so much easier to just click on the channel number to get to my shows. Now, by the time I have found the show I want to watch, it is 15 minutes into the show by then! I would rather pay more for cable for less frustration!

Today, I will get a few little things done around here. It will hit 100* today, so no going outside, other than maybe to do laundry. I should also get my window blinds today so I can put those up. I need to dump tanks today too but will make that quick due to the heat.

Julie wants us to go for lunch on Tuesday to a Mexican restaurant about an hour or so away. She knows I don't care for Mexican food so I am not sure why she always picks those places to go. I will have to check the menu on-line and see what there is that I might like. I usually end up with a cheese quesadilla. She wants to also stop at a thrift store in that area, so at least I can look forward to that. The drive will be nice too. It is up along the Catalina Mtns.

Hope you all have a nice day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Happy Mother's Day.

Barbie, you and your bird problems sound like all I go through with my cats. I am always fighting with one of the automatic feeders I have so I can go camping. I quit asking my neighbor to feed for me because I'm afraid they will trip him. He gets around worse than I do. I'm glad it's not 100 here yet. It's only 68 this morning. The only rain on the radar is at the Texas state line so hopefully we won't get more rain. I know what you mean about trying to find programs on the smart TV's. I have only used my son's tv a couple of times and I got tired of looking for programs. My TV in the living room has two vertical lines in the screen so I will probably have to get a new TV in there soon. I already had to get a sound bar for it. Another remote to keep up with.

I have another camping trip this coming weekend at a state park about 90 miles from here. Looks like we will have about 15 going. I need to start loading up again.

I am baking two chicken thighs for lunch. I was late getting them started so lunch will be late.

Martha, I love that you have so many possibilities to camp with friends close. I've decided when my C is back in traveling shape (tires are the first necessity) I'm going to be doing more shorter trips out and about when I'm here summers. At least that my plans now.

Happy Mothers Day ladies. Shirl I'm glad you got to enjoy lunch with your daughters.

I'm thinking I'll be spending more time in the RV as the temps are rising and that ac is functioning. I considered a freestanding ac but it still needs venting to outside and I just don't have a good place to do that. I really am hoping the guy I want to do this gets back to me soon. Strange that it would be easier to get help in Texas from both people in the park and outside service. But I'll get there. Kind of like Barbie for a doctor. I've had no problems with doctors in AZ or TX, luckily. That said, I often have to travel further in AZ for tests, specialists, etc.

Two loads of laundry done, pick up order from Safeway home and put away. I ordered a different cover for my motorhome dinette that came yesterday so I'll go make sure these fit in a little bit. I haven't taken the first to get sent back yet so after I'm sure these work, that'll be a task for this week.

Slowly doing better, but still not doing much. Still tired a lot of the time.

Ditto on trying to find TV shows you want to watch on the internet-only TVs. Both of my kids have them, and I go nuts when I am visiting. Yes, cable and satellite are more expensive, but at least they are easier!!!

I have an appointment with a realtor and also one with an ophthalmologist. Trying to get a doctor appt as well, but might not be possible in short time. Even though I am mostly over whooping cough, my blood pressure has been high.

Watched Amtrak go by a couple of times each day.

Sorry, ladies, I never can quite understand the "I can't find anything to watch" thing.

I have only my Roku and "internet tv" (no cable or tv antenna), but I never have a problem finding something to watch. Mostly I watch YouTube videos, of real people doing real things (no beatings, no car chases, no car crashes, no explicit sex, no violence) just real things from homesteading to horse keeping, to beekeeping, to movies, to documentaries, to news, to mysteries, to concerts, to ballets, to travel - just about anything I can dream up that I might like to watch I can find quick and easy.

I mean quick and EASY-peasy.

I mean, (for example) the full-length (all 3 1/2 hours!) of the wonderful, multiple Academy Award winning film (including Best Picture, Best Actor nomination for Peter O'Toole), "Lawrence of Arabia" is on YouTube waiting for your free viewing pleasure (it does have some violence - it is a war movie, after all).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-IXZ9QJ7qo&t=387s (If you decide to give it a watch, please note that the first few minutes of the film are a musical introduction with a blank screen - this is exactly how it originally was shown in theatres).

One of my all-time favorite Science Fiction movies, the quirky (and surprisingly moving) "Starman", starring Jeff Bridges (Mr. Bridges received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor for this film), is available, for free, on the Roku channel.

Hey, ladies, what are you waiting for? What are your particular interests? Please post them, I'm happy to do a couple searches and then make some suggestions for you.

At your service! :D

I think the problem, at least for me, is that both of my son's families have TVs with two or more changers. I can never figure out how to find things, and when I do, I can't find them again. Half the time, I end up wandering in places I don't want to go and even turning the TV off without meaning to.

I suspect if I had all those things on my own TV, I would eventually learn how to find things without getting hopelessly lost.

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there!!!

It was an extra special day for me because I was able to view (online) my oldest granddaughter, Brynne, graduate from Washington University. She graduated with 2 majors and one minor. Yes, I’m a very proud grandmother. All the family will be flying home on Tuesday, except my daughter will stay a couple days to help my granddaughter pack up. The two of them will then drive home together. I wish I could have been there but I had to stay home to continue the special feeding procedure for my dog Abby.

Again, Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers.
