Wed last day of April

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wed last day of April

Postby Bethers » Wed Apr 30, 2025 12:13 pm

Yep, tomorrow is rabbits! 2025 is 1/3 over! Wow.

Lyn, glad you're able to post again. Hopefully problems solved!

TY and I had a nice walk. I used to always drink just plain water (my go-to drink) after walks in Arizona and other desert country. But after my bout with heat stroke several years ago I switched to coconut water after walking, etc but I'm not a big fan of it so my doctor recommended DripDrop last summer and I add it to my water after time outside walking, etc. Still not my favorite, but I'm just trying to take care of me.

Had a horrible evening last night. Really bad wheezing and coughing. Went to bed last night around 11:00 pm and kept noisliy wheezing and coughing whenever i rolled over or sat up. Finally got to sleep at 4 pm, and slept with a couple of brief times waking up until I woke for good around 11:30 am. Felt a lot better and less wheezing, so i drank a bottle of water because I felt dehydrated. Then had some milk and drove over to dump my tanks and add water. Finally eating now.

Still a little wheezing, but coughing with less effort and problems catching my breath. Need to go out and get my humidifier working to see if that helps.

Bought my ticket to fly to Ohio on May 18-24 for 2nd grandson's high school graduation. He has decided to go to U of Maryland and specialize in foreign relations. He was originally looking at teaching, but his trip as an exchange student to Spain changed his mind. He now has the travel bug! Now my task is to eat everything in my freezer and refrigerator because I will be gone a week and will need to turn it off.

A few years ago, I decided to buy each of my kids, DILs, and grandkids a book for Christmas, and I start early because national park visitor centers are great sources of books. I got copies earlier this week of a book I read years ago called Indian Givers that is about what the Native Americans have contributed to modern life. These will be for the two oldest granddaughters. Got a book on the secrets of identifying weather from clouds, plants, scenery, etc for younger son and a gourmet camping cookbook for older son's wife. Will write in them and wrap them and then store them in my Christmas stash! 4 down and 5 books to go. Will look for travel book for this graduating kid.

Good grief where does the time go. I am not counting on remembering Rabbits in the morning. I will try but ya never know. Worked out in the yard most of the morning. Still hauling dirt and took out a plant the always looks dead but isnt.........but it is now it is in the trash. Planted a Snowball bush in it's place. Still have to plant my Azalea out front from where I took out my dumb tree. Will do it tomorrow as my back was killing me moving all those bags of dirt and then digging up the dead bush. So basically just relaxed this afternoon after sorting thru all my fertilizers. Different ones for different plants. Tomorrow I take Emma to the groomer but it is supposed to be in the low 80's here tomorrow so wont get much done outside except watering. I did fertilize my roses today and fed the Snowball bush after planting it and watered well. I also made my chicken and dressing casserole, had a dish for lunch it was good.

Beth I just cant bring myself to drink those flavored waters or infused waters and I really dont like coconut water. So I have a big jug I fill with ice and water and just sip on it all day long. If it is ice cold it goes down easier. Judy maybe the altitude there is bothering you with your repiratory problems right now.

Karen, I keep water in the fridge and it's what I drink all day. Just the other stuff after I've been doing things outside and feeling the heat.

I doubt I'll still be awake to say rabbits at midnight so probably won't say it before talking to TY during the night or in the morning. But I'll take any luck that might come my way.

really glad that you mentioned RABBITS I think I would have talked to myself without realizing the date... wonder if it counts if you talk to yourself???
I finished .... no not mom's room the current afghan!!!! so happy to finish it... think I will start a Swedish Weave... the first step and for me the hardest is finding the center of the material... it's a matter of counting and keeping track of those counts I typically use several flat needles to help with it but gosh not sure where they are know where one is so going to have to do a search for more or something that will help in the count... it's by far the most time consuming part of the project...
I like water if it's cold like with lots of ice in it... maybe Judy or Catherine or anyone for that matter that has been overseas why don't they use ice in there drinks? and why do they think it's weird that we do and more importantly why are more restaurants here heading that way??? I have the last few places that I've eaten at had to ask for ice as well as the lemon or lime which is something else I like in my water....
as to mom's room it's not finished yet will be... I got lots of things moved off the bed I took pictures of stuff no one seems to want them so will go to the thrift store... I think that bag is getting full though... tomorrow will make sure all the surfaces are clean (of the stuff going to a new home on Sat) and sort out the box I've been throwing stuff for sil in so that it looks neater .
years and years ago we all made a quilt block or two or however many we needed to to make a quilt for mom's bed Larry painted the top of the quilt that would go over the pillows pictures of the Teton's and my sil that is coming Saturday quilted it I don't know what will happen to the quilt who will get it... it's not a color that I overly like and not a size I have my bed in the 5th wheel is a king this is a queen my room that isn't yet at dd's I don't know what size of a bed it will allow.. there are a couple of things that I'm not sure how they will be divided up she has a shell lamp hangs from the ceiling in the living room and every since it has been hung up it has been a no no item you were not allowed to touch it at all ... and scoldings did happen if kids got to close to it... must have worked as it's still intact!!!! and I seriously don't know how many years it's been up decades at least or even where it came from the why behind it??
I have a ever changing screen saver on my lap top even has a thing I can click on to see what it is I am seeing last night when I went to close it up there was the Teton's I should have clicked on it just to see what it said... but didn't think of it at all till actually just now...
Lyn so good to see you posting today... have missed you ... I wonder if your dd is keeping the condo so if she wants or needs to return to it she will have it ready not have to get someone out of her place can just return...
that sounds hot Karen actually sounds good but when it get's that hot here we will complain
Beth my dd uses a lot of different add in's for her water as well I don't really care for them myself.... but I really need to work harder at drinking more... I just don't think about it...
maybe you are on the mend Judy we will hope so
you all have a great day

It was very windy all day. I decided I better mow because we have 3 or 4 days of rain coming. It's suppose to start in the morning. Hope it holds off a while so I can get to my campout. I wish I had waited until tomorrow to wash my hair because the wind was blowing grass and dirt all over me.

I had to run to the Dollar Store to get some motor oil because I couldn't find the one for my motorhome. I was hoping they would have my cokes but they didn't. I will have to stop at the grocery store when I go through town.

Tonight I baked 2 pounds of bacon to get that over with. I don't know how much food to bring because some of our meals are included. The campground is part of a casino but I don't know how close they are but they probably have a shuttle. I can go to a restaurant in the casino if I have to.

There are several possible reasons why Brits don't use ice in drinks.

- First, they have traditionally had very small refrigerators with small freezer space, so not much room for ice or ice makers.

- Second, a lot of Brits consider adding ice as watering down a drink, thus when you order a McDonald's drink with extra ice as I do, you don't actually get as much of the original drink.

- Third, the British weather can be cold and rainy, sort of like Oregon all year, so they have always preferred hot drinks instead of cold.

I need to take more photos of food and hotel rooms this next trip. One really funny photo I neglected to take would have been when I ordered a Pepsi in a cafe near the tour area of HMS Victory. It was a 16oz bottle that had been stored in an open-front cooler so was cool, but not cold. I asked for a glass of ice and got one of those tiny kitchen-sized paper cups with one single ice cube in it! The difference in size of the bottle compared to the cup was very funny, but I gave up asking for more.

One thing I used to do when I stayed in a Premier Hub hotel, which is a budget hotel but with a cafe and bar attached, was to get a bottle of Coke at the bar and then ask for a large glass of ice to take to my room. Most hotels have small cafes and will oblige you with at least some ice to go with your drink. I will do that again, but I al also planning on taking a tiny cooler or buying one there, and taking along a water bottle with a large mouth that I can fill with ice, which I will buy from a store. (You can get ice from stores, but they are smaller bags.) I used to make a large cup of tea in my room, let it cool, and then put it with some sugar and lemon into my plastic bottle along with some ice. I eat a lot of take-out food in the UK because it is so much fresher and available in grocery stores and even department stores. Lots of sandwiches, salads, fruit cups, puddings, and such, almost always very well made. I would often also buy a chunk of cheese, some crackers and cookies, and a drink from a grocery store to eat in my car in the countryside.

Check out the 2nd and 3rd items on the BAD section on this page of my blog: https://2022humongousukadventure.blogsp ... -home.html

A few years ago, the Brits decided to reduce obesity by reducing the sugar in soft drinks and a lot of juices, thus taxing it and causing manufacturers to replace sugar with Stevia or other artificial sweeteners. (Like adding one poison to reduce another???) Even regular Coke and Pepsi had this added, so the result was horrible tasting soft drinks and things like bottled iced tea. What I learned to do in a restaurant was to order a bottle of Coke or Pepsi but ask the waiter not to open it as I wanted to read the label. If it had none of the artificial stuff, I accepted it and opened it, but if not, I sent it back!! Bar drinks almost always had artificial junk in it. It was very hard to buy from a soft drink machine because the labels never seemed to be visible in my direction.

This upcoming trip, I have splurged in a very slightly more expensive room with a refrigerator for five days in London, so I will be in ice heaven and can make iced tea and chill it. (The stuff sold in stores and machines all had artificial sweeteners last time I was there.)
