Last Saturday of April

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Last Saturday of April

And it’s starting out cool at 43°and a bit damp from ran late yesterday into to early morning, but supposed to clear out. Quiet around here this morning. Have only seen one car come in the sub. Guess we are all being lazy this morning. That time of year when we just wait for spring to really kick in. I’ve been up since 4 a.m. as I watched the funeral for Pope Francis.

Catherine, good to hear from you and that you are makin g progress with getti getting condo ready to sell. I’m sure Tina would be more than happy to help your daughter find her fur baby when the time comes. I’ve got some stuff for donation that I need to take up town yet. I’m a minimalist in that I don’t have anybody to save anything for, so I have cut down to just what I want for me and my executors can do what they want with it. Liz, sorry to hear about Bob and your health issues too. Hoping it all stays manageable.

Nothing on my agenda for today. Got the rest of the front entrance cleaned up, so other than the pile of debris out there, it’s all set. Up to the board to decide how They are going to get rid of it. Also cleaned up the boat access as well. So POA properties are done except the other lake access site down the road here. I don’t maintain that one as another neighbor cuts the grass there. I’ve got some spring cleanup left in my front yard and behind my garage, don’t know if I will bother with it today or not. Shall see. Neighbors down the street were having their debris cleaned up by a tree service company. Must have finished as I haven’t seen them come back in this morning.

Morning, Sue, good to hear you're taking a lazier day. You deserve it. I've already read the electric meters assigned to me this morning. I haven't returned the readings to the office yet because I needed a break, especially some water. Temps were only low 70's with a breeze but the sun gets to me quickly. Sitting still now in the shade I am cool lol That's the desert for ya.

Ginger is supposed to be coming by today. We don't have any plans made and no time designated so we'll see. Meantime I'm cooled off so I'll walk the electric readings down to the office.

Good morning. I was awake early so turned on the Pope's funeral. Quite alot of hoopla. So decided to get my butt in gear and go to my favorite store Walmart.......NOT but if I go early it is manageable. It is the only store in town that carries the Philadelphia no bake cheesecake container. I want to make a cherry cheesecake pie today and this makes it super easy. Have the shortbread pie crust and the can of cherry pie filling. So then just have to throw in the cherry filling add a few scoops of the cheesecake mix, spread it around add cool whip put it in the fridge for a while and VOILA I have a really good pie. Picked up a few other things but not much. AND I did not wander the store, I stuck pretty much to my list. They did not have a couple of things I wanted so will see if Winco or Sherms has them.

Our rain did not materialize so guess I better water a bit today. Will move a few more soil bags to the raised bed and then that should be ready to go in a couple of weeks. They still say we could get some rain but we shall see. Our temp is 62 and no sun. It can be that temp and it is really good for working in the yard but when the sun comes out I am done. I just dont do HOT like I used to.

Will have a nice relaxing afternoon today.

My cough/cold/whatever is about the same, so I think i will go to urgent care tomorrow--it is an hour's drive. I am sleeping very well, and have been taking one of the two nighttime cold tablets that are packaged together. No coughing at night, but I am just taking a little Mucinex with no cough suppressant in the daytime as I want to get rid of all the junk in my lungs. Worst thing is such a bad cough, it is causing me to leak a bit. (I have some tiny pads, but need to get slightly larger ones.) Checked my blood oxygen with device I got during COVID, and it is fine, but cough is irritating.

I am up=to-date on all vaccinations except I need a second COVID 2024-25 booster. Had one in late August, but CDC says immune-suppressed people like me need a second one now. I had RSV vaccine last year also.

Been going out for a short walk each day. Today need to walk to shuttle and take it to mailbox near post office so I can send one granddaughter a birthday card with a check, plus some postcards to other kids. Weather is wonderful here, and campground is far away from crowds of tourists. Need to go out and dump tanks also today.

Good idea to get things checked out, Judy. Sorry it's so far away, but definitely worth it. Please let us know how it goes.

I have almost a minivan full of stuff for the donation truck tomorrow. Plus another load to take to the storage unit.

Sue, I wish I was a minimalist but I tend to hold onto things that the kids (or I) might need/want. This has been a good practice in clearing some things out but I will still have a ways to go. I have nearly all of Gaby's stuff here - including her bed, dressers along with lots of clothes & shoes. Just hope she finds an unfurnished place when she returns.

My son called last night & asked if they could stay here for a couple of nights while they have their current house treated for termites. No problem. Then he called this morning to remind me that they have to bring all their food with them so asked that I refrain from going to Costco or Sams Club for the next few days. :o Yikes! They have a large fridge & it's usually very full. I have a small one that just doesn't hold that much. Oh well, it'll be interesting - in the meantime, we'll all be eating out of our fridges as much as possible. Plus I've got a 5-day cooler for overflow.

Different subject - One thing I noticed living out here is at church we always have really good singers leading the music. But tonight at Mass, the usual guy wasn't there & we had a lady who was absolutely amazing! She must be a professional - the way she projected her voice & held herself as she sang, plus she played the flute like nothing I've ever heard before. Wow! I could have listened to her all night. What a treat!

Tina, thank you for all the information. Yes, Gaby is in love with the English Cocker. First she has to get back here & find an apartment that 1) she can afford & 2) that will let her have a dog. But it's good to know that she should start her search as soon as possible even if it will be a while before she can get one. We'll check in with you as soon as she gets back. She is delighted that you can help guide her in making sure she gets one from a trustworthy, professional breeder. She'll probably be returning in June or July.

OK, good night.
Take care,
Catherine

made it out to Rexburg which is where I was going met up with dd#3 before we met up I went to the thrift store ... one of the reasons I go that far is they will get it out of the car for you .... it's in connection with my church and they employee and train people in need of jobs some have disabilities some are refugee's if something isn't used here it can be sent away to help in other area's I may have given away a bin of beanie babies not sure when they loaded the car they put some stuff where I actually didn't want them (had stuff in there that was going to dd's so they wouldn't get mixed up with other things..) so hoping that stuff in the bin was actually meant for DI not dd#2's house she is researching the beanie babies but in my defense they didn't tell me that there was a bin in the back with beanie babies so hopefully I am not just worrying for the sake of worrying... Went to Walmart and one of the things I got was that no bake cheese cake stuff now to figure out what I want to do with it... your pie sounds great Karen but I don't have the cool whip have whipping cream..it would probably still be great if I had someone to share it with... I did get the stuff (why I have pie crust and pie filling) to make a chocolate pie that sounded so good so now I have to decide which I want to do...
Catherine that will be neat having your daughter close again... France was a long ways away I hope she can find what she wants and be able to get a pup...
had to walk in Walmart all the electric carts where in use or needing charged got on one that inched a long even though it said it have 5 more hours I didn't believe it came home so tired at least I got home... then dd #2 wasn't home we passed on the highway she said she saw me... I didn't see her but they have so many cars... I guess though all the cars have owners one child or the other  got home and turned on tv and think I kept falling asleep so running later than normal think it's time to turn it off and go to my room
you all have a great day
