Monday, warmer but windy

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Monday, warmer but windy

Postby BirdbyBird » Mon Apr 21, 2025 11:32 am

So 70 degrees and windy with a chance of spitting showers. So Spring in Ohio. I enjoyed your comment about turning the refrigerator on to be sure it still worked. Even on the rigs I purchased new I quickly learned to get ready and to head down the road with the fullness of knowing things are only working temporarily. The new rigs, each had their little issues I had to work out. Now with the 24 year old vintage Roadtrek, I still turn on each system each time saying a thank you when it works. I have fixed or replaced or upgraded many pieces and parts and systems and am grateful that I have not had to spend my money all at the same time. The age of the rig has determined some of the expenses and I have determined when I had a budget for some of the upgrades. The bright spot in all of the "unknowing, will it work" is the "knowing" that it has been fully paid off since I drove out of the family's yard with it that day in Kentucky 5 years ago. Paying to keep RVs on the road that are about to become upside down with their payments is the real scary part. With the Roadtrek I know that I could sell it for something, to someone tomorrow and let them fix it up to their standards. These things do hold their value, even if that value isn't so high...... At my age I can work with that....and the uncertainty of what may or may not work this time. In the meantime I will keep paying for my roadside assistance, keep a cell phone charged and a credit card handy if I need to suddenly get a room and a rental car. Tina

Hope everyone finds some corners of joy in this day.....

Tina, I'd love to downsize but my Winnie was paid for cash when I bought her and I keep saying I'll pay as I go now. I'm thinking in the next couple year's I need to pick one base, either here in my Casita or in south Texas at the TT. While I have traveled by car a few times now, nothing beats taking the mh, except the 40 mpg the car gets. Since I don't intend to workamp anymore, I don't intend to pull the car, which makes traveling, for me, more enjoyable. And 26 feet isn't hard to handle. So, changing things up.

I have arrived at my Casita. Both the mh and casita need tender loving care. I started in the casita after going to get the mh out of the storage spot here with crossed fingers she would start. I did put a solar trickle charger on the engine battery and it must have done the job as it's the original battery (2014!)!!!

I've gained an hour a day yesterday and today. Time to feed TY and take him for a walk. And I think I'll be in bed early.

Tina, I always head out with a hope and a prayer that everything will work. lol Several months ago my refrigerator kept switching from electric to battery on it's own. I talked to the RV shop about it and it seems something that works and doesn't work can't be fixed until it completely breaks. I turned the refrigerator on yesterday and so far it is staying on electric. Just makes me nervous being on a trip with a refrigerator full of food. I would like to downsize but I really do like the room I have when I camp.

Beth, glad you made it to your Casita.

I spent way too much time fighting with hoses and sprayers this afternoon. I don't know if I can put a garden hose in the trash bin but one of them is going in. I can't get the quick connecters to stop leaking or get them off and the spray head is leaking too.

It was 85 today and we didn't get a drop of the predicted rain. I talked to Harold's daughter and they got 9 inches in New Orleans. I sure hope I don't run into any of that on Thursday. Sheila, I'm going to a RVW campout in McComb, MS.

it was a busy day today when my brother was here last week he said he might be here today when I heard last night that his wife's sister had died I didn't know if he would be coming or not... called sil this morning to give her my condolences and she mentioned that brother was on his way ... so got dressed and ate breakfast decided to work on mom's room my goal was to finish the bed side table she had cd's on it and don't remember what put them in a box one thing my mom collected was decorative wall plates.... we are running into plates that she never put up as I guess she ran out of room... brother found a box of Shirley Temple plates today we found several under the bed those were Oriental in design... I get the getting caught up in getting the series I was caught up in Christmas Tree decorations I think some of them are in my dd's storage unit as I told her she could have them... I had more than enough for my tree... but boy is there a lot of plates I ought to go count them  and then there are coins.... every time we turn around there is a container with coins in it ... not just coins like out of you pocket into something (there are those as well) but some are different silver certificates dollar coins that are old some coins are Indian head some of them we so need to find a reputable person to go through them and see what is what and if there is any value to them... one dime was smaller than normal what does that mean????
anyway the bed is still not finished the box that I was putting the CD's in brother put stuff in could have asked what my system was .... I actually think he is getting hard of hearing as well :o had to really shout his name to get his attention... at least with the funeral coming up I know he won't be here this week (I don't think... SIL is from Utah and where her sister passed away... so imagine they will go down Thurs depending upon when the funeral is So perhaps I will have what I can do before he gets back... my other sil is coming with family to get bedroom suite the first weekend in May so need to have it all done before then oh and she will be getting a bookcase (my brother did woodworking and made it so they want it back) found a cassette that is from my brother (deceased) that he sent to my mom probably while in 'Nam so going to give that to sil hopefully she will have a cassette player...
enough of my day ....
Beth very glad you arrived safe and sound in AZ

Sheila, I wish I was nearer to you, I love coins, although I don't know too much about them. Fairly easy to search online for the value of a coin (some can be quite valuable) just put in the type of coin (example, U. S. Dime) and the date on the coin and you can get a good idea of what it might be worth.

Good luck!
