Saturday, Jan 11th

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Saturday, Jan 11th

This whole area south of Las Vegas along the Colorado River has to be one of the windiest places I have ever been. Yesterday was good, but strong winds I drove here in on Thursday are back, and that means a lot of sand blowing around. I had two reservations here--one for two days and another for four days. The check-in booth is a very long walk, and I hated to unhook my rig and drive down there. Walking was out of the question because of the sand blowing, but luckily I found out the ranger had taped my new permit onto my windshield!! The big thing is that means I wont get sand in my eyes or teeth!!

Quiet time here, but I have stuff to do inside. I spent about three hours last night trying to decide where I want to stay in an upcoming trip in June. (I am very picky!) I do have outside stuff I want to do, but not in this wind and sand blowing around!! One thing is to hammer on new snaps to the sunscreen i use for my cab area, and the other is a big privacy curtain that uses snaps. Have been taping each of those because snaps have pulled out, but i have the kit to put new ones in--just too windy right now.

I also should have hooked up my sewer hose yesterday when it was not windy, but hopefully it will quiet down just before sunset today and I can get out and do that.

Hope this gets posted before someone else starts a Saturday thread!!

Looks like you didn't need to worry about that Judy, quiet in here. Those winds are no fun. I'm glad you had a ranger on top of things.

Tomorrow I pick up Tom from the airport. Such s good thing he's coming now instead of this past week. A could day's with rain and only highs of 50 or so, but lots of sun and today with the sun TY and I took a long walk in the upper 60's. I love sunny days in the high 60's and 70's.

Good late evening!

I can't even remember what I did yesterday! My mind is exhausted along with my body!

Today my next door neighbor knocked on my door and said she had gotten a pile of veggies from some local farmer for only $10 and wanted to know if I wanted any. I got dressed and went over to check it out. Her whole trunk was filled with various veggies. Took some tomatoes but nothing else appealed to me.

I went to the diamond painting class this afternoon. It was fun! I only got a small corner done in 2 hours :o so it will take awhile to finish it. We each got one kit to work on and another one to do later. I will have to work on the first one at Julie and Davids, since I have no room in here right now to do it. I will for sure need to get a head lamp to make it easier to see what I am doing on it!

I looked for a YouTube video on how to install my new thermostat but ended up coming across a video on how to operate the one I currently have and that made all the difference. Before, when I put the heat on, I also was getting air blowing out of the AC which was not warm. Turns out there is the option to run the AC fan to distribute the heat coming from the floor, so it was set to that. It was also set to Celsius and I found out how to change it to Fahrenheit instead. So now I no longer have the fan running and it is warm and comfy in here without it on, and much quieter! I will return the new thermostat.

Should be the last night of below freezing temps for awhile so I can hook up my city water tomorrow. I need to empty my fresh water tank and clean it since I have no idea how long that "fresh" water has been in there. I need to google how to clean that tank, and then fill it up some in case I need it again.

The kitties (Romeow) found a way to get behind (and probably under) the couch. I really don't want them back there. Sophie followed him after seeing him go back there. I am going to HD tomorrow to get a board to fasten to the wall just under the window that will cover the whole space across the back of the couch and put an end to their new hiding place. They can lay on the board and look out the window once I get that in place.

I better get ready for bed now. Cats are already asleep on my bed. Tomorrow will be a running around day, mostly returning things to Kohl's (Amazon stuff) and WM, then HD to get a some wood and brackets for various projects. I am hoping they still will cut boards there.

Good night...
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Temps like that we won't see until oh later in the spring and spring sure isn't here .... yesterday we did get up to 32 degree's tomorrow according to weather app it's going to be 9 degrees cooler I am so not happy about it... and basically 0 chance of snow...
I planned on doing not much beyond reading scriptures and folding up the clothes... feel asleep listing to a pod cast hmmmm when I woke up I read a couple of chapters
my dd's and nieces stopped by to say good bye and brother stopped by can't remember why but we looked in one drawer that hoped the key for the safe deposit box was in it but think it's more of my step father's stuff he has been gone since '89 guess she didn't need that drawer.... but brother wants me to wait to go through it when we can at the same time... dd wants me to hold back some clothing so that they can do something fun with some of it... I think the clothes that have all ready gone would have been better... :x I look around and see so much stuff and wonder how to find out if anyone wants any of it... although one of my nieces said if no one wants this planter I like it I thought that is all you want???? pointed out a plate that has big horns on it and asked if she would like it thought her dad might more likely as it wasn't her style but her mom was into the big horns so he might just cause ...
oh and forgot that my nephew and his wife and dd came over picked up my very expensive medicine I offered to reimburse them but they didn't really want me to give them 19 cents  I was just surprised that it was ready so quickly but happy to see it
we still don't have the motion lights talking to the phones... they are thinking that there needs to be a booster for the front one but the back one well it should talk to my phone doesn't help much if it talks to brother who is 3 hours away
for the most part we are not a drinking family step father brought some with him he has been gone since ' 89 there is a 12 year old bottle of something downstairs... been in a pretty much dark cool room my dd whose one who does indulge in wine beer a bit sent a picture of it to her husband who used to bar keep recommends that we find some one and have it appraised. it would be more for a collector... I guess.... oh well will be interesting to see what happens with all of it...
such was my day
you all have a great day

I think it might have made it up to 50 today because the sun was out. I was bored so decided to go to Lafayette. Not a good idea on a Saturday. Went to TJ Maxx and only bought candy and coffee.

I got my tax papers moved. Put the oldest out to go to the old house, moved 2024 to the bottom drawer and started 2025 folders.

I take my fitness tracker off to take a shower. When I was putting it back on it must have thought I was dying. It kept telling me inhale and exhale. lol

We have three days of relatively good weather next week so some of my friends want to camp at the state park near me. Hope the weather man is right.

Judy, hope the wind calms down where you are.

Beth, hope you have good weather for your friend's visit.

Barbie, before you drain the fresh water tank, dump a couple of cups of chlorox down it, and fill the tank up completely. Run each of the faucets briefly to get the chlorox water into them. Let it all sit for a few hours, and then run all of your taps to empty the tank, remembering to make sure your grey and black tanks get emptied at the same time. The water will smell heavily of bleach, but that is what you want. (I use a funnel attached to a long tube to add the bleach.)

When the bad water is gone, refill the tank with fresh water. There will still be some bleach in there, so you probably do not want to drink it or wash your hair in it unless you want bleached hair!!! If you had a motorhome, I would say to drive around with the bleach and then the fresh water to slosh it around.

Two cups is a lot more bleach than you will want to use to make sure nothing is growing in it on a regular basis, but that amount will do the job for now.

You can get someone to come out and use their hoses with flush out your fresh water tank with high pressure, but that would be expensive and you probably don't need to do it. Use the new fresh water to do dishes and take showers after you rinse it out and add more fresh, but you probably don't want to drink it until you take a sample in to get it tested. I am thinking maybe the county health dept or someone can do that at no or a very small charge.

I bought my rig new, and I have put in a cup of bleach every few months, especially after really hot weather. And I DO drink the water from my tanks because I know I take good care of it, but I fill a couple of containers and wait a day or two before drinking it. .
