Morning Karen and all. Bit of snow here last night. Maybe couple inches. Had to go put a card in the mailbox, so shoveled off the garsge apron while I was out there. Also did the walks and deck and called it good for now. Maybe will clear rest of drive later or maybe not.bthink we are supposed to have some lake effect later today.
I too ned a few things from the store, but it may wait till Sunday when I’m in town for church. That’s not my favorite time to shop as everybody goes shopping after their church services it seems. But it can get kind of comical as people move around the store and have a whoops when almost running into shopping carts when coming out aisles etc. lots of laughs and smiles. And somebody including me runs into somebody we know so a few minute conversation ensues. I use self checkout all the time, so I avoid the longer lines. Meijer has staff there all the time to assist with problems and because I shop there all the time, I know most of them. They spy any big items in my cart, they come over and run them through with their hand scanner so I don’t have to take them out of my cart. Actually a busy store doesn’t bother me as I figure, what else do I have to do that’s so important. And I usually shop in the morning during the week.
Today’s project is painting that closet I am changing over from a tall shelf system with rods on both sides to a long wire shelf with the rod underneath. Put the 1x2 on the wall to support the back of the shelf yesterdsy and spackled old screw holes etc. that were in tbere. Ready for paint. Want to do it before the new carpet comes.
Barbie, I was thinking about your issue with that paint and it might not be the computer, but the undertone of the paint. The color of those paint chips do not really represent the true color you will achieve when in your lighting situation. Allow me to pass on a few tips I’ve learned over the years. When looking at a display of paint colors, we of course see a wide variety of colors from red to oranges to yellows, greens, blues etc. These are of course the colors of the color wheel both primary and their opposite colors. So, one knows kind of what color one has in mind and gravitates to that color section. Now, this is where the fun comes in. Before picking your color chip, pay attention to whether it’s placement is toward the left, right or dead center of its color section. The farther over in either direction, the more the other colors on each side will show in your color selection as the undertone. When you find one you think you like, pick one from each side of it and above and below, take them to a window where the natural light shows and you will then see what its color will sort of look like in your setting. Artificial store lighting and natural light are two whole different spectrums. And at home, the amount and type of lighting plays a big role. Certain lighting at different tines of day, brings out the undertones. My rooms change all the time depending on if it’s sunny, cloudy and where there are shadows. Better yet. Take the chips home and put them up in your setting. If you have one you really like, get a sample and they have these pages you can get that have some sticky on the back and you can paint them and stick them on your wall and see what it looks like. Then peel right back off without having to paint the wall itself. You can go online and look up each brands paint chip name and it will give you it’s undertone color. That alone can help you decide. I’m playing with some green chips right now.
Shelia, sorry to hear about all the issues you are having trying to take care of your mom. Definitely looks like some changes are needed whether family like it or not. You can’t keep that up. Sounds like she’s at a point where she needs 24 hour care. Like Karen said, had for others who are not there to realize what’s going on and in their minds Thry are not ready to accept it. Beth, sounds like you are on the right path with the dentist. I just saw my dental tech for a cleaning and ex rays on Wednesday. Good to go. Dentist popped in to say hi and said same thing, looking great.
Time for a quick lunch and get painting.
On edit:: While I was painting I remembered that I forgot to mention. If one can’t find a color one wants. Mix you own. Just get white paint and a sample of the color you want, dark or medium and gradually add it to the white till you come up with the shade you like. Than take it and have it matched at Lowes, Home Depot or any paint store and paint away. I’ve done this and friends downstate do it quite frequently.
