This is a careful what you wish for kind of day. I wanted snow to play with my snowblower but I sure didn’t need the horrible wind and low temperatures! And this is supposed to go on until tomorrow evening! Gusts up to 40-50 mph are a good possibility for my area the rest of today and tomorrow. I-80 has been reporting accidents both east and west of here not to mention some of the secondary roads. I did manage to blow the sidewalk and my driveway but there are patches of icy “slop left over. Not as neat as I would like it but it’s better than it was. I’ll probably have to repeat tomorrow if we get the inches here they are forecasting. Once I thaw out I need to go back out and shovel around the driveway gate so I can get my car out tomorrow since I have a chiropractor appointment. I sure hope the whole winter won’t have these winds! I took Buddy out last night about 11 and he had a ball doing zoomies around the yard. He was a nice time since there wasn’t any wind to speak of. Pretty funny him trying to catch the snowballs I threw for him. They didn’t hold together very well and he kept sniffing around to see where they went and then looking at me like what happened to it! So the snow hasn’t been all bad! I’m still envious of you all with the shorts and t-shirt weather though! 30’s and some sunshine will be welcome! Sue, I did something like you said to put the cover on Lola a few times but don’t feel comfortable having to crawl around the roof to spread it out with the air conditioner and vents and whatnot on the roof. But appreciate the suggestion. I think I’m thawed out enough to bundle up and go back outside and do some shoveling. Hope you all have a great day.

Afternoon Sharon and all. Looks like my weather finally came your way. . I justcame in from cleaning last nights snow. Easy peasy as it’s been the light dry lake effect these past couple days. Wind is a bit gusty but calming down. Although it’s been a battle some days to keep up with the snow, I am enjoying this weather. It’s the way it should be here. I’m dressed for whatever nature throws at me and it’s invigorating to be out in the fresh air. I’ve come up with the conclusion over the years, that dealing with winter, makes you a tougher person. You handle this, you can handle anything. I love doing battle with Mother Nature We are supposed to have a bit of a warm up, so that may settle the snow. Will also determine whether or not I decide to have my roofs cleared off. From a light dusting on Thanksgiving morning to today:




Karen and Judy, thanks for the video and information. I might just get a CD player, set it on the seat and let it play with its batteries. The way these new trucks systems are built, getting an aftermarket system put in would be expensive if it could even be done. It’s all interconnected to everything and the computer software. Plus it’s a lease vehicle. This is about the only time of year I like to play my CD’s. Rest of the time I don’t bother. And CD’s don’t last forever. But I’m still investigating.

Finally got caught up on my bookwork, house cleaning etc. Gave my kitchen a good cleaning including washing the walls. Will work my way through the house a room at a time. Have a little to do list. I like to keep after the little things as it makes house maintenance so much easier. And working on another Diamond Painting.

My two have. Een playing around where they can for awhile. We haven’t been out walking due to icy road. And actually they haven’t been bugging me either. I do have cleats on my boots, but that slushy slop is slippery and I have a ake n a spill more than ince. No harm done. Am hoping if we see some sun that will melt the road. I have a pair of boots on order with deeper tread soles which I am hoping I can use my other traction cleats on, coming week. That tine of year. The ground isn’t frozen like later in winter and that makes things a bit more icy. Later on it will be better walking as the ground freezes up and sub roads get more snow packed.

Remember the fiasco with my electric when I got back here? They paid for my new converter and changed out the electrical meter. That was mid-Oct. When they did electric readings the end of that month they discovered they screwed up and my meter wasn't registering usage. They didn't get that changed/fixed until the middle of November. That means I paid for no electric for a month. And it was hot with lots of ac usage. Temps went down enough that I rarely used ac or heat the rest of November so only had a $7 and change bill for the rest of the month. No complaining here.

Sue, your place looks so wonderful. Just what I love about winter and snow. Thanks for continuing to share pictures. Sharon, I'm glad Buddy loves the snow. My Moxie wouldn't come in if there was snow. She got me out in it more often than I'd have ever thought. We'd play and then she'd just lay in it all day if I'd let her.

I ordered from Hatch Chile and got my order today. My freezer is stuffed. I know what I'll be eating for awhile. I got their chile rellenos, chicken and cheese chimichangas and 5 lbs (in 1 lb packages) green chile stew (with pork). My mouth is watering.

Your house does look beautiful in the fresh snow, Sue, but I agree that you have a lot of snow on your roof and might need to get it removed.

Slept in and had a long phone call from friend so need to get moving. Got several boxes in my RV and need to pack up and mail some books and some large prints of pictures I brought from my aunts house and has been in storage several years. I will send to son in Ohio for storage until i buy something there.

Which means I am definitely not going to buy a house or condo in California. I could do it, but everything, including insurance is so expensive here, I would not have enough left to live the way I want to live. (I could even afford travel and maybe a condo rental in Florida or some place once in a while.) California would mean I would be spending all my income on housing.) Also, the places I would want to live (not too far from Napa) are in the hills and have very high fire danger ratings, which would mean I might not be able to get insurance and would be worrying all the time. Traffic driving down here from Napa also reminds me of how stressing it is. In Ohio, i would buy something in a small town or edge of the country and be much more relaxed. Will be in Ohio i n late May for a graduation, so will look then.

Good evening. Woke up to 33° and dense fog warning. The fog wasnt as bad this morning as yesterday and no dense fog warning then, just freezing fog, pick your poison ha ha The sun actually peeked out off and on today so not a bad day. I put my Christmas lights up yesterday and could only get on half of them to light, no matter what I did so I said phooey and came in for the night. This morning I went out and rearranged a couple things and voila I have all the lights working. So tonight they were programmed (or so I thought) to come on at 4:30....nope, so had to go out and turn them on manually. This is a bit frustrating but will try again tomorrow. Will check and make sure I am programming it correctly altho I think I am. Then went this afternoon to my hair cut appt. It was definitely time.

I remember when I was working in Eureka, I had not had Blossom too long when we went over there to work. She did not like the motorhome when it was moving. So shortly after being there we had the big earthquake at 4:39pm. My phone went flying off the table, the RV shook pretty bad. Fifth wheels in the park were falling off their supports, those that parked their trucks nose in had the post give out and fell on their hoods. Blossom had PTSD from that day forward if the RV moved. I had her in her crate and thought she was going to have a stroke on the way home when my assignment ended. She got a little better with future outing but she never ever liked the RV moving. Loved the car but the RV no go.

Eureka CA 2010 6.5 earthquake

Structural damage was inflicted among older Victorian houses, power was severed for several hours, and windows were shattered. In addition, 28,000 customers of Pacific Gas and Electric Co., mostly those from Humboldt County, were left without electricity and phone services as a result.
In Eureka, the Old Town Bar and Grill building was previously believed to be severely damaged beyond repair and ordered demolished by the city, until a developer purchased and renovated it in 2011. Lots of other historical downtown buildings were losing bricks and timbers. Grocery store windows were shattered. The town's high school, known as Eureka High School, and the Bayshore Mall were damaged and briefly closed, though both were later reopened with close to full services. An auditorium at Eureka High remained closed over concerns regarding its structural safety as of June 15, 2010. A total of 463 buildings sustained damage as a result of the earthquake, leaving $21.8–43 million in losses. It was odd because it depended which way the stores were facing whether or not they lost bottles and food from the shelves.
I had to go to work at 6 and when I got there the fire alarms were blaring, fire lights in all the rooms and hallways were flashing, computers were down and the earthquake after shocks just kept coming. It was a crazy few days.
I experienced many earthquakes in southern CA growing up. Our toilet water would slosh, house would vibrate and the pool had whitecaps ha ha we never worried it was no biggee. But this one I was plenty worried at the time.
We didnt feel anything here in Roseburg, at least I sure did not. The biggest jolt was when my phone started screaming at me to duck and cover LOL then the Tsunami warning...good grief.
So now I am tucked in my recliner and Emma is in her bed so all is well at my house.

Wow, Karen, you must have thought it was the end of the world with all those alarms and flashing lights. A bit of overkill, I think.

And the snowball story with the dog reminded me of our schnauzer when my kids were growing up. They would throw sticks and her ball into the lake in shallow water and she would go fetch them. Then one day, they thought it would be funny to throw rocks into the lake. The poor dog was frustrated because she could not find them, but eventually learned she had to dive to get them. She did not always bring up the same rock they threw, but she did retrieve rocks.

sometimes commercials make a person laugh... watching one not sure for what perhaps Amazon anyway it's showing lots of house all decked out in full splendor with Christmas lights one house was spectacular and the next one to it was nothing except for a few lights that said "Ditto with an arrow pointing to the next spectacular to them... made me chuckle
Anne is Oroville near you? saw on Yahoo about a shooting at a school there.... fortunately no deaths but two kindergartners were hurt who in their right or wrong minds go into a elementary school and shoot randomingly or anywhere for that matter but it is beyond ones understanding to target babies... although a 5 or 6 year old wouldn't want to be referred to as babies... I hope this doesn't get me into trouble mentioning it ... let me know and I will be more careful
Beth that sounds good I've not bought Hatch's products as I didn't know hot hot they would be... been thinking about ordering from that meat company on line (and right now can't think of what the name of the company it is) but if you order now you will get all this for 89 plus four burgers... I was thinking of having it delivered to a couple of my kids the others probably not different habits or types of food that they will eat... or space in freezer which is my excuse I am chilly tonight never seem that warm in here and it's set at 70 my sister sent me a link to a portable heater suppose to heat a room on less electricity called a gogoheater. sounds interesting but would need to plug it into the power cords so don't know if it would work... all her plug in's in this room which is where we are in the evening ... are behind something big and bulky hence the power cords all over I count three no make that 4 ...
had the aide and nurse here as well as niece now mom has two wrapped feet she keeps popping out these water blisters... and niece has some idea of how to bandage her feet if needed on the weekends.
glad everyone was ok with the earthquake and that it didn't make a big wave
