Good Morning. 28° and dark out there on this early Thanksgiving morning. Had a little dusting of snow last night. Heading into mid 30’s and cloudy today. The calm before the storm. We are under a Winter Storm Warning starting at 7 p.m. tonight till 7 a.m. Sunday. Lake aeffect snow could accumulate 1 to 2 feet over next couple of days. Course Wind direction determines who gets how much. Right now the forecasted wi ds are W/NW and that favors my area, especially West Winds. Time will tell. Did my shopping yesterday and other than forgetting hot cocoa, I’m all set. Might pop into the local gas station convenience store and see if they have some. Filled up one gas can yesterday, so good to go there too.

Going to neighbors for dinner later today, so don’t care what the weather might do. Will go over around 2:30 and watch second half of Lions-Bears game. Dinner around 4-4:30ish. Meantime, will put the timer in place for my Christmas lights so thry will come on tonight, put the topping on my jello salad. Want to do some cleaning on my fan over the stove. Get the grease off it and I can smell it a bit. Will take dogs for a short walk before heading to neighbors.

But right now it’s time to make some breakfast, then hop in the shower and get things moving here. Have a wonderful day, no matter how you celebrate it.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

It isnt too cold out there right now 33/49 and cloudy with NO rain. Will be a chilly week here tho in the mornings. Will be getting down into the low 30's until the beginning of next week. Then will be the upper 30's. So not too bad. The fog will be appearing here shortly. Usually lets up about noon.

Going to go out when it warms up and organize my car. I have a nice organizer for the trunk area so need to see about getting things where I know they are in it. I like to put an extra dog harness and leash in there . You never know when one will break. I also have a copy of her records in case they are needed while out and about. A dog bowl and a couple of bottled waters. Also need to vacuum Emma's car seat, ya know get the hair volume decreased. The inside is Sherpa so of course it collects hair. She loves it tho. As soon as I start the car she hops right in it. Laura's dog did not like her's at all so she gave it to me, so now I have one in the house too and she sleeps in it all the time. None of her other beds except this one, silly dog.

Get the housekeeping chores done and then will see what else I can get into today.

Happy Thanksgiving to every one. We will be staying home today. Maybe get him out for a short walk. Weather is perfect. No wind in the high 60's. Went to Denny's yesterday and I had my turkey dinner. It is a good meal, has all the trimmings.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone, We are going to Emma's other home for dinner. There will be 6 of us there who have know each other for over 50 years. Sadly though one couple is moving away so this is probably the last time we will be together. I am one who also does not care for holidays and avoid gatherings when possible. I especially dislike Christmas and have ever since I found out there was no Santa! :lol I have lived alone at various times in my life and enjoyed it. I only have two relatives left that I see and DH has none. Fortunately we are blessed with good friends who are like family.
So I have my wine bottle ready and will hope for good food and considerate conversation.

Good morning and happy Thanksgiving to you all!

Things are going well for me here. Almost done with "camp" which has been a lifesaver for me! Been busy looking for a new place to live before my unemployment runs out. May have found something but won't know for another week or two.

Will be heading over to David and Julie's shortly. Just a small group with them, David's caregiver, and Julie's son from Phoenix.

Have a great day and eat well! :D

Wishing all of you a Happy Thanksgiving. I will stay home today despite invitations from both of my boys. My car was at the body shop all week and they were able to get it back to me yesterday even though they thought they’d have it until tomorrow. Oldest son and family usually eat late and youngest is going to his girlfriend’s family out of town. Like some of you I don’t mind being alone on the holidays. I’d rather not be on the roads today or this evening. So far we’ve had some ice and a bit of snow. Actually had a few minutes of sun but it didn’t last long. Buddy and I managed to get out to the project late yesterday afternoon for a nice walk. Not sure when it’ll dry out or not have snow piled along the road for us to walk there again. Yesterday it was pretty wet. He’s been on the treadmill almost every day, he’s still not happy with it but at least he stays on it for a few minutes. One of my things to do is to try to hook up the new router I got last Sunday. I’m more than nervous trying to do it. But at least something good came of me messing in my office room. I managed to purge a bunch of random items and got them out for the garbage pick up this morning. Very satisfying to wave good bye to that much of the purging I need to do. Of course the router is still sitting there in its box glaring at me every time I walk in that room! Otherwise as usual enjoy keeping up with all of your adventures. It’s usually the first thing I look at in the morning! So again I’ll just wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving wherever or however you’re doing the day.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I'll go to daughter's later - my son-in-law likes to do holiday dinners. 34 degrees right now.

Got another FB shock last evening. Grandson tutoring/teaching in Vietnam got married! Beautiful wedding portraits. Not sure why the secrecy in that family - probably have their mother to thank. I predicted he would find someone over there so am thrilled. He's 27 and has talked about having children since he was a little boy. I knew my daughter and one granddaughter flew over last week.

Thank you, Sue, for posting the beautiful Thanksgiving card that perfectly echoes my own thoughts.

Quiet and alone-at-home today for me, feeling a bit sad and nostalgic, but it is what it is. Will be fixing beef ribs on my backyard bar-b-cue, then potatoes, green beans and salad for a side for dinner, ribs and tri-tip marinating in the fridge even as we speak (when I light up the bar-b-cue, I always make extra for the freezer).

Might make my famous from-scratch (including cooking the pumpkin!) pumpkin pie for dessert, but first a nice walk for my beloved Joe. Have a can of whipped cream in the fridge.

Spent an hour or so out in the backyard pulling invasive Bermuda grass from around (and over!) my strawberries in my strawberry patch, with Joe laying on the grass nearby watching me work. Some of the plants have died due to being smothered by the overlaying grass, but there are enough healthy plants left underneath it all for my patch to get going again - strawberries send out runners everywhere and are well able (and willing) to re-populate the bare spots. They just need to see the sun.

Once I get the grass down to a reasonable level over the entire patch (got a ways to go), I will shovel a bit of steer manure around the plants, the winter rains will take care of the rest.

Four years and counting with my strawberry patch, all organic, too. With organic strawberries $7.99/quart at the store, I feel like I am making money - even though I am not. Strawberries are very hardy here in my climate, but they do need watering in hot weather.

Sunny and mild today, probably temps will top out around 60 degrees by this afternoon.

The strawberries are already blooming, and I am seeing tiny fruit setting here and there. Once the plants are uncovered, and fertilized, they usually take off and go like gangbusters in producing fruit, and also in spreading runners.

LOL. Not quite finished with Thanksgiving - almost as though spring is in the air!!

Evie, thank you, your words reflect my thoughts exactly, so I repeat them here: "Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. I am very thankful to have you all in my life, those I've actually met in person and those I only know on line. I hope each of you has a wonderful day."

With love to all,

Anne

Happy Thanksgiving to all. I’m spending the day with my daughter, son-in-law and 4 grandchildren. Can’t get any better than that along with the wonderful dinner they’ve prepared. I’m thankful also for all of you who contribute to this great forum. Hope you all have a wonderful day.

Congrats, Anita on the wedding news. And I who everyone here with thanks for this great group of women. My dinner today was great. Even 10 people sitting at one table makes me miss most of the conversation. But earlier and after a we were waking and talking in smaller groups worked much better for me. And lots of great food. I brought home an overfilled plate of food for tomorrow and leftover mac and cheese, some in the fridge, some in the freezer. Crazy weather here. Best today was around 7 am at 70 and no wind. A couple hours later, 68 and drizzly with a breeze. A couple hours after that 62 and cold winds. Good thing yesterday we moved this to one of the people's enclosed porch. By the time I headed over at 1:30 I had leggings and a sweatshirt added lol. It's 62 right now but tomorrow's high is only 60. Later in the week we will see 80's again.

Another Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving all!!

Had only an 85 mile drive today. AM here for two days, then have a 176 mile drive through LA to San Juan Capistrano. Now, the question is, should i take the direct I-5 route through LA, or add 16 miles and take I-5 and I-210 which is slightly around the city??

I'm having some turkey thigh i cooked a couple of days ago, some dressing from a box, and some cranberry sauce. Dessert will be ice cream!
