FRIDAY 11/15

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

FRIDAY 11/15

Postby OregonLuvr » Fri Nov 15, 2024 11:04 am

Good morning. Kind of chilly out 38/48 but no rain. Might get a shower or two who knows. No wind tho so that makes me happy. I wanted to go over to the coast tomorrow and see the King tides that are coming but will see what the weather forecast brings. For those that don't know here is a bit of an explanation

What are KING TIDES?

They are actually called perigean spring tides, referring to the highest tides of the year. They are created when the moon and sun line up just right, and their combined gravitational force yanks at the Earth much more than any other time of year, creating bulges in the planet that “move” the tides.
So when are the Oregon King Tides coming for 2024 – 2025? It starts November 15 - 17, 2024; continues December 13-15, 2024; and it has its final display on January 11-13, 2025

If I dont go tomorrow I just might go in December but I really want to go over there and see them. I saw them once quite a few years ago and they were so impressive. So on my small bucket list ha ha

Today is garbage day so better get my trash together and get the can out to the curb. Have some breakfast, shower and get my day started.

I would love to see those, so please take pictures. Finally temps into the mid 50's last night. I put on a sweatshirt over my sundress this morning but had that tied around my waist just a short time later. I have some small projects I intend to take care of today.

Did my grocery shopping today--both at Walmart and Trader Joe's. That should last me more than a week. Got quite a bit of fruit, plus some good tomatoes, and some of Trader Joe's french onion cibatta, so I have having a heathy dinner--fruit salad and a chunk of Cibatta with sliced tomato on it.

I am headed to California tomorrow. I was supposed to head down south on Sunday, but the weather is supposed to be less rainy tomorrow. My concern is having to drive over a lot of mountains with the potential of rain during to ice or snow, but I think tomorrow is my best bet. If I can, I will make it to Shasta, and if not, I will stop at Emigrant Lake for a couple of nights. I also really want to get to slightly warmer conditions, as the cold weather, rain, and wind is driving me nuts, but I finished my last test last night, so I am free to head south.

And good news is that an old friend of mine from NYC is joining me for a week in Borrego Springs after Thanksgiving. She is a great passenger because being a lifelong NYC person, she has never driven and does not have a driver's license, so she never complains about my driving!! We spent quite a few years together on the Board of Directors of a professional association, and she, another lady, and I became close friends. Had lots of good times in the 90s and a few years in 2000s at meetings in various cities. Will be fun to have company.

Two nights in a row with a gorgeous moon. I just don't get good pics of it. But I sure enjoy seeing it. If you have clear skies and see this post tonight, go out and take a look!

Good Morning, just wanted to add a little about King Tides. The paper this morning had two fantastic pictures of them. Wish I could share them with all of you.
