Yippee Beth. Glad to hear they know what they are doing. You are settling in there quite nicely.
It is a chilly morning here but not as much fog as usual. Have a few things on my agenda but nothing much really. Need to go over to Lowe's and see if they have what I need, otherwise it will be Amazon all the way.

That's incredible, Beth. Not only is that roof big enough to cover your trailer completely, but you could even fit a bigger one under it if you ever decided to replace it for some reason. There is also room to sit underneath it on a sunny day! Plus the roof color and the steps match your inside cabinet colors! Just noticed your neighbor looking at your roof. I am guessing he is telling himself he should have gotten a bigger one than the little one he has over his rig!!! Bet you start a trend.

I slept in this morning because I was up late last night watching very old home movies. In 1948, my dad bought a 16mm movie camera, no sound, unfortunately, and he spent the next 20 years taking movies of my entire family, including my grandparents, aunts, uncles, and tons of cousins! About 20 years ago, I gave copies to several of my cousins, but the younger ones don't recognize who is who in those movies. So, I have started the project of annotating them in a Word document, describing what is happening, where it is happening, and who all those people are. I was not quite 5 when the movies started, and I was #8 out of an eventual 27 grandkids on my mother's side. And there was definitely a baby boom during and after WWII. There were four of us born during the war, and maybe 10 more in the ten years after the war. Anyway, there are a total of 6 hours of movies on DVDs and It took me over two hours last night to annotate only 20 minutes. I really need to get moving on this so I can finish before Christmas!!

My dad, like a lot of new cinematographers, had some unique techniques. One was to stand in one place and turn in a circle to get a 360 degree view, except he turned too quickly,and the result was a dizzying blur. In one scene, he did TWO revolutions! But at least he took some great shots of my very young cousins. He even took quite a bit of footage of a basement family party where a lot of my uncles had had too much beer and were entertaining the others. Luckily, no young cousins were present, but it is pretty funny. Going to try to put in a few hours on it today.

Beth it really looks great! And the blue steps are just right! I know you musts be feeling very relieved to have everything done.

It's been a damp and gloomy day here so I made a big pot of chicken soup. Hope it turns out good as I experimented a bit with my usual recipe and added mushrooms.

Martha where I live they will also come with a big truck that will vacuum up your leaves if you pile them along the edge of your lawn. We have the people who mow mulch the leaves as it creates compost, that makes makes good topsoil.

I think the soup is ready but I have to see the rest of Wheel of Fortune.

Thanks for all the wonderful comments. I'm pleased with the decision to spend the money for this and the result. I had several reasons, biggest being the age of the tt and hoping this will keep it in better shape longer. Judy, you mentioned your roof and I had work done on this roof last year after buying it and know I'd be needing more but possibly keeping that from happening for a much longer time. Putting it over the entire patio section means a much nicer outside experience. And for those of you mentioning blue, yes I'm kind of stuck on blue, aren't I?

Judy, your family might not realize it now, but all the work you're doing with the pictures, etc, will be something they'll treasure later.

BJ, I don't watch Wheel of Fortune but can't tell you how often I'll overcook something because I'm watching something. Be happy the soup probably got better waiting on you.

got up and made the cake for cake and dip after I made toast and grapefruit for mom and I supper I thought was going to be a bit earlier and it was just not as early as I had thought had the just rites cooking and making coleslaw when they got here my grandson's wife asked if she could help so she did the potatoes dd did a load of laundry pretty productive afternoon evening they left about 7 ish got here shortly after 3 so a good visit... made punch one we enjoy I think I should have kept more of it... but sent a lot with dd we made way too much!!!
I finished my afghan other than the trimming the fringe last night and other than the flower for the hat I made for the "auction" I finished it tonight ... now if I could just finish the roses for the infant hat so I can give it to the mom... it is good to see the end of some of the projects...
only so I can start some more... dd #3 afghan has a hole in it so told her I would make her a new one... just need to find the time to go and get yarn ... I'm on this FB page for those who use this one designers patterns and have questions or have finished a project and want to show the finish project... it makes me want to find a pattern for a 'wearable' and make me one sounds so crazy but I'd like to make a cardigan I just need to find something that I feel like I can finish it... and then find yarn to will work for it ... I also need to work on the kids memory boxes... should do that before I start on any other projects...
my folks took a lot of movies as well not sure were they are and doubt there is anything to view them with... good luck on your project Judy it's sounds like a big one...

Luckily, Sheila, I had only one brother, and he was not competent because of alcohol and drugs, so I got everything from my parents and distributed things like jewelry to people as she wished. That meant I got all the movies and the slides. About 20 years ago, I had them transferred from the film to DVDs. I have three DVDs with about two hours on each one, and it took me at least 6-7 hours to annotate the first one. Whew. I still need to go over my document and check facts and spelling.

I still have two ziplock bags of slides that are only partially sorted. My dad had them all nicely sorted and divided and put into a slide cabinet with drawers that slid open and had a lot of dividers in it. However, after my dad passed away, my mother was carrying it, and dropped the whole thing. All the drawers came open and the slides ended up in a pile on the floor! I sorted them as best I could, but I need to get them scanned. Then I will do more sorting into logical folders on my computer. I tossed out about half of them when I did my initial sort--tossing things like the photos my dad had taken while my uncle was driving the car on a three day trip to Mexico!!! It was just photos of roads and trees and not important to anyone.

Anyone have a suggestion as to where I can get these 200-300 slides transferred to digital? I don't want to mail them away so am trying to find someone local in a city I will be at for a while.

Judy, I don't have any suggestions about your slides. But it sounds like you might have a pretty extended family, and the kind of information you are compiling would be invaluable to those doing genealogy research. Probably people you have never heard of are searching for just this kind of information right this minute.

I joined Ancestry.com for a while because I wanted to do the DNA thing, and ended up doing a bit of genealogy research while I was a member. For various reasons, I had always wanted to find out if I might have a tiny bit of African American ancestry in me. Nope! Surprised to find that I am almost 100% British (England, Scotland, Ireland) with a tiny touch of Norway/Icelandic (which might explain my interest in volcanoes!). So I'm guessing Viking. Those guys really got around, back in the day!

Ancestry.com is pretty expensive on a monthly basis, but their database is extensive and amazing. I was on Ancestry.com for a while, and was absolutely astonished to discover that my late father had a half-brother that I had never known existed. How I found this was that quite by accident. I saw a photo on there of my late grandmother with a younger man I didn't recognize. Wasn't too difficult then to discover that this man was her son.

I had always known my dad as an only child (so no aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.). I have tried to contact some of these relatives that I never knew I had - in one case a half 1st. cousin blocked me after my first attempt at contact. A few others have not responded at all. I do know that my dad had a terrible childhood, growing up in dire Appalachian poverty. I suspect that there are still people living who are my age that know the details, but they (for whatever reason) are unwilling - or afraid - to share. I'm not bothered by this at all - it just make me curious as to what went on all those years ago.

You have a true treasure trove of family history there at your fingertips, that you might not realize the value of - especially to those who are out there searching for it. And, trust me on this: they are!!
