Sunny Saturday

Afternoon all! I’ve been reading posts but been getting sidetracked every time I tried to post or by the time I think I’ll post it’s late and I need to get Buddy out and get settled for the night! Lots going on with some of you with settling into new places. Beth, I’ve thought about finding some kind of shelter for my rv so will be anxious to see what you have. And speaking of rvs I finally got mine in for its inspection so I’m legal with the state again! Plus I needed a new battery. The thought is that it hasn’t been used for so long and between the heat and cold it just ran down to nothing. I will put the trickle charger on it this winter to try to help preserve it. And hopefully by next spring I’ll be able to use it to go somewhere. The morning I took it in this week was a beautiful sunny day and not as cold so I just wished I could just keep driving. We’ve been having a string of sunny days and much warmer temps for the time of year.
I finally decided to hire someone to take care of all these leaves for me. My biggest problem is that I don’t have a hitch on my car so I can’t haul my little trailer to the dump. And can’t seem to get any help from my kids so I’m stuck. I’m at the point it’s easier to pay someone rather than ask family to help. I do realize they have their own lives and try not to ask very often for help. Again, this is when I miss not having a pick up. I don’t need one very often but now it would sure come in handy! Buddy is doing much better on the treadmill so I have a feeling it’ll get lots of use this winter. I still try to get him outside for a walk too so he can sniff and see something different! I just wish I could break his habit of chewing anything and everything. I can’t take my eyes off him for a minute. Plus it seems he’s into his teen phase and has forgotten his training except when he wants to listen. I’ve taken him into Lowe’s a couple of times and he’s done fairly well. Wish I could find a playmate for him and no, I don’t want a second dog as it’s been suggested! Even if I know it might help! I keep threatening him that I’m going to sew his mouth shut! He just looks at me and if he could laugh he probably would! Tina, it’s exciting that you may have puppies. And Sandi, I’m so sorry for what you’re going through with your pup. It’s never easy. Sue, I wish I had some of your energy! I could really use it about now! I’m debating whether I should mow once more out back. This nicer weather has encouraged the grass to keep growing. Once we get the leaves up I’ll decide, I guess. I just won’t cut it as short as I do in the summer. Anyway, ladies, that’s about all I have. Not much else going on in my not so exciting life! Same thing just a different day. Oh, and must remember to change the clocks tonight before I go to bed! Hope everyone has a good day and week ahead!

Good afternoon Sharon It is another rain off and on kind of day. Most of our rain goes north to Eugene as they are the Willamette valley known for their wet climate. We are the Umpqua Basin LOL south of them. Our rain usually goes north or south. We also are not very windy. If you want lousy weather most of the time the coast will provide that. I have been over there when it is cold, rainy and windy. And when it is beautiful weather it is great. My friend in Medford said the weather is lousy down there too right now and has been especially windy this year. We are supposed to get decent days starting on Wednesday so we shall see.

Sharon sometimes it pays to hire someone to do the bigger jobs. Sounds like you have a ton of leaves so think it might be money well spent. I like to do the things I can do, and if it is too big a job, or not in my wheelhouse then I hire it out. I just paid to have recessed lights put in my family room and living room, and a few other lights installed outside. A couple of outlets and 2 gfi switches inside. Cost me but so worth it. ALOT more than your leaves ha ha

Sandi glad to hear Abby is holding her own. That is a win for sure. I know we all hate it when our animals are sick. They can't tell us anything so we have to figure it out and find what works best for them, whether it is meds, food or something else. Emma will be 8 this January. She was only 8 or 9 months old when we were at Eagle Lake..........time sure does get by us.

Been puttering around the house this morning and just had some lunch. Going to see what I want to watch on the tube. Will clean up the kitchen and then make a caramel mocha and settle in for the afternoon. Will sew a few more squeakers in a couple more dog toys while I watch some tv.

Sharon our problem is finding someone to work that is good. We have over 25 trees on our property and the last two people who have mowed never picked up limbs. I finally hired someone to specifically pick them up and haul them away. The handyman we've always relied on is about to retire and younger people just don't have the same skill levels. I mentioned to him one time we were going to have a tree taken partially down. He realized they would bring in a large piece of equipment and to be sure and point out where a drainage pipe ran so they wouldn't crush it.
Karen it's hard to believe your Emma will 8 in January seems like yesterday she was a fluffy puppy. Barbee it was good to hear from you I've been wondering how you were doing. It sounds as though you are going to be happy there. Tina may have little ones for Christmas!

I wish they would leave the time alone!! I would rather have daylight time here year round.

I'm getting used to paying for help, I just wish I could guarantee it'd be good help. So much I used to do isn't in my toolbox anymore. I've mostly accepted it but it still makes me feel lazy.

I just changed the time on my microwave so I'm not thinking I'll need to do anything else other than the car, but I could be wrong.

Will change clocks before I go to bed tonight. About the only thing I accomplished today was putting up some shrink film on my rear escape window and the one by my rear dinette/convertible bunks. They were both hard to do because it was hard to reach them, especially with my left arm since I am partly one-handed these days because of my sore shoulder. The film should help cut down on drafts in this cold weather. And no worries about putting it over my rear escape window because it tears off extremely easily. I won't be able to open my dinette window, but that is OK. After the holidays, I will be around Las Vegas and then Organ Pipe Natl Park in late February, so if it is warm, I will just quickly tear it all off.

I need to do a better job of working on my sleep habits. I probably spend half the day in bed, but very little of it actually sleeping. Like last night, after an hour long coughing spell, I fell asleep for about 1.5 hours, then woke up and started thinking about the results of my chest cat scan, so of course, I got up and opened my computer and tried to see if it was on the web site of the company that did the cat scan or on the cancer center web site. And of course, I had to reset my passwords, and that took a long time. Also researched productive coughs without being sick or fever, and that took up a lot of time, etc. Finally fell asleep again at 6 am and slept off and on until almost noon.

I am going to try to take my shower earlier tonight as the humidity from the shower is one thing that kicks off my coughing for an hour or so and keeps me from falling asleep. It's a really strange cough that I have had for 4-5 months. I know I have a lot of sinus drainage, and most of the time I do not cough. But about three times each day, when I wake up, when I shower, and at other random times, my nose runs and I cough like crazy. It's not a dry cough, and I have to carry tissues around with me if I am shopping or going places so I can blow my nose. I am just really, really getting tired of it, and I hope my oncologist and the pulmonologist I am going to see can do something. I never smoked, by the way, which confounds the doctors. but I have had allergies for a long time.

This weekend the Giant Omelet Festival is going on in Abbeville and the square is full of booths selling things. I went this afternoon and made a couple of rounds around the square but I don't need more junk. There weren't any good food booths so left and went to Walmart. There were more people at Walmart than at the festival. I only needed ant poison and 1/2 & 1/2 for my coffee. They had neither but I still spent $120. I forgot it was the first of the month and some things had been wiped out. I had to go to Lowe's for the ant poison. My car said it was 83 but it felt warmer than that. I hate to see the time change. I'm having trouble getting things done before it gets dark now.

Judy, hope they can find out what is causing your coughing. My nose runs a lot in the morning when I first get up and sometimes I have a cough too. Probably an allergy from all the mowing.

Barbie, sounds like you are in a good place and have people to do things with.

I have trouble getting any help around here. I gave up finding anyone to tear down the old wooden walk way and did it myself. I have moved a few loads of the dirt to even out the area that has washed out but I'm hoping the guy that has the cattle will show up and move some with the tractor. I use to know how to operate the tractor but that was 40 years ago. The deck on the mower is rusting out and I need to get a new mower. They could probably replace the deck but the mower has to be 15 years old and I have to get it worked on every year. I am going to try to wait until spring.

Judy I know how you feel about looking at your online test results. I just had all my lab work done and I did read one for B12 that I knew would be high but it is down some. I am chemically sensitive from all the chemicals they used when I worked at the Art Dept at the university here. I have never smoked but developed a cough and sometimes would loose my voice. I also developed terrible headaches and tiredness along with various other strange symptoms. Now I only clean with safe products and never buy scented soaps or laundry products. Also no air fresheners! I will mix various spices like one would use in spiced cider, cinnamon, cloves and 1/2 white vinegar and 1/2 water. I put it in the microwave and heat it till it steams then put it on the counter. Or if you have a small slow cooler you can use that and leave the lid off. I put about a cup of white vinegar in the rinse water when I wash clothes. Think back to what you might have done when the cough first started. Did you spray inside your RV or use a toxic cleaning product like a rug cleaner? There are several books out or you can check online about safe cleaning, one is Clean and Green. Take care and hope you can get some rest.
It is Sunday morning and I'm up a half hour early, just couldn't slay in bed any longer. I'll move into this new time gradually! We have one clock on the wall that neither of us can reach but fortunately our tall friend and his little girl visit us on Sunday mornings and he will change it.
