Hallmark mystery has a movie that I don't recall ... it's fun to look at the actors and think is that so and so form Signed seal and Delivered??? it was they can totally make them different then there are others that no matter what show they are in they totally look the same...

It's only 12:20 here. The Hallmark channel has started showing the Christmas shows already. I would watch the Golden Girls late at night and that show is gone until after Christmas I guess.

We are suppose to have rain coming on Wednesday. It hasn't rained for a month and it's going to rain on Halloween. On the news there was talk about doing trick or treating on Wednesday because of the rain. The local state park really goes all out for Halloween. If you want a site for Halloween you better reserve it a year ahead.

I went to Walmart, mostly for cat food. There was a big package of chopped steak on sale. I might try to make a chicken fried steak tomorrow and put some in the slow cooker and make swiss steak. I'll see how I feel tomorrow.

I'm still up, Sheila. 11:40 p.m. here.

Martha, I love chicken fried steak. It was a staple when I was growing up, but I almost never have it anymore because it isn't good for me - especially the way I like it: pounded round steak dredged in flour, sprinkled with onion salt, garlic salt and pepper, then fried in bacon grease.

Of course, I never have any bacon grease on hand, so I need to fry a pound of bacon and then nibble on the bacon while I am frying the steak.

Yum.

Anne, the local sourdough bakery sells a jar of bacon grease for $6. If I still drove it would be in my fridge lol. I’m thinking a tiny dab in olive oil.

Anne, I keep a jar of bacon grease in my refrigerator. Thanks for the reminder to use it. I don't think I'll make the chicken fried steak today because I am going to go mow in Maurice. I hope for the last time this season. My meetup group is going to a restaurant tomorrow night where I know I will eat something fattening so I better cut back today and tomorrow.

Thanks, Shirl.

I wish there was a local - and real - bakery here in my cow town. If I look on Google, and type in "bakery" all that comes up is the local Walmart and a few assorted grocery stores.

You made me hungry for sourdough. There is a real-life sourdough bakery in Oakland (San Francisco bay area) called "La Farine". They make the best sourdough bread I have ever tasted. Unfortunately, Oakland is about a 2 1/2 hour drive (one way) from where I live, and to get there includes a lot of high-traffic freeway driving.

My son and his wife used to live down the street from La Farine, and they would bring me some bread once a year or so - this was before they moved to Seattle.

I phoned them once (LOL, the bakery) and they don't ship.

I think I may need to gather my courage one of these days and make the trip.

Anne, Maryland’s eastern shore is made up of mostly quaint little towns. The bakery is in Chersyertown, home of Washington College, the Sultans a tall ship a large farmers market and little shops. #2 daughter brings me 4 loaves of sliced sourdough bread which I freeze. Keep 4 slice in a plastic :container ready to use.I will add a jar of bacon grease to my y next batch of bread. Doctor said enjoy your life so bacon grease it is. Lol I use it to flavor oil oil.
