Good Morning everyone. Chilly morning,and raining, but then it’s end of October. After hitting 80 on Monday, it’s been downhill to normal 50 degree temps. Pretty cool Wi ds too. Looking at 70 by first of next week

Martha, check out the Gorilla carts at Tractor Supply. I have one and I love it. Use it all the time. You can dump it really easy. It’s tough too. Carol, sorry to hear Bill is still having some bad days in between the good ones. Do you think you will go to MX or just stay home? Beth, I like your RV “garage” idea. Will be really nice I think.

Been a busy eeek here with cleaning up my yard and neighbors. Leaves are all down with exception of one tree which is dropping them slow but sure. I’m pretty much done with yard cleanups. Will do final pass over neighbors yard and mine, then call it quits. Might run tractor over the front entrance area if weather cooperates, but lan to put it away later this week. Will put outside fall decorations away as well and put out the driveway markers for winter. Need to make a quick oil change in small snowblower too.

Have company coming up for weekend today. Just need to make up guest bed and put out guest towels in bathroom. Want to run dust cloth over furniture as needs doing, company or not and change my bed this morning as well. Weekend turned out to be kind of funny as I was thinking about these friends this eeek and the fact I should give them a call. Couple minutes later the phone ran and it was her. We talked a few minutes and she wanted to know if I had weekend plans. Said I had invite to surprise 50th Birthday party for neighbor down tbe road, but no big deal. Didn’t have to go. She said they could come up later on Saturday and I said no. Would rather spend time with them while we had the chance. Haven’t been up here since before Covid and I haven’t seen them since my cousins funeral 2 years ago. We do keep in touch by phone though. Theyare both in early 80’s, so never know if thry will be up to another drive north. So sent message to neighbor who’s involved with the party planning and said I was going to be unable to attend and why. Well, long story short, got a message from her yesterday that party was cancelled due to recipient of party getting Covid. Crazy turns of events all the way around. And to top it off, I had already bought a Carmel apple from our Chocolate Haus here in town that makes their own chocolates, as was going to give it to her for birthday. She loves them. So company and I will be indulging in this humongous Carmel apple instead


So guess I had better get moving and get my shower and other stuff done. Thry won’t be here till afternoon anyway. Have a great weekend everyone.

Good morning Sue. It is darn chilly here this morning too 31/73 today. I still love the cooler weather. Just dont get started outside as early as I would like so usually busy myself around the house until it warms up outside. Need to take my garbage to the curb this morning after a bit. They dont come until later in the morning around 11 so I have time. I have a Gorilla cart too that I bought a few years ago, I love it. Laura has one and told me how great they were when we were at Home Depot.........so it came home with me hah Love the way it dumps so easily too. I mix my dirt, compost, and some fertilizer in it and then fill my pots in the spring. Also haul by bags of mulch or soil around, love it.
Sheila I love that Chicken Tortellini soup. I like to buy the Rana spinach and cheese filled tortellini to put in it. Since we have several rainy days coming this week Sat.Sun,Mon think I will put on a pot of veggie soup, tastes so good in the chilly weather. I have a piece of frozen pot roast to put in it for a little meat and flavor. I like to buy one and cut it in thirds. A piece for the crockpot and the other two for whatever strikes my fancy.

We had a bit of excitement here yesterday. I was listening to the scanner, as I often do in the morning or afternoon and heard them page out "Structure Fire" in my mobile park. The address was a street over and right next door to where my friend Jerry lived. Their porch was on fire and the house was filled with smoke but the fire team was on it and got it out quickly. They sent for one of their large fans to clear out the house. The Admin of our scanner group texted me to tell me there was a fire..........ha ha told him I was on it. I didnt see any smoke from my front deck so that was a good thing. Elderly couple live there and were out and safe.

Think I will turn on the World Series tonight and see if it is a good game. Baseball is often like watching paint dry sometimes LOL so will see how it goes. Now it is time for a second cuppa coffee and some breakfast. Then will get busy.

I had my monthly Amazon order today and got it all put away. It's on my subscribe and save and I carefully make sure I need what's coming. I cut it really close on one of Ty's foods. Used the last of what I had this morning. I also added a different allergy med that a friend swears by. We shall see if it helps. Temps have been ok but I'm seeing some upcoming nights which will stay in the 70's. Yuck.

It is chilly here, also, but our high was 60 today, with very strong winds. Supposed to rain tonight and next three days, so since it was sunny, I drove to Waldport and dumped my tanks. Then, of course, I had to visit the Pacific Sourdough bakery there. It is only open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and only from 10 am to 3 pm each day, but during the summer, there are lines out the door and down the sidewalk. They never seem to run out of anything, at least. They not only have several kinds of sourdough bread, but they also sell very fancy pastries. I got a small loaf of bread, and a dense chocolate cake about 5" in diameter, as well as the same size lemon cheesecake. (Just ate half of the cheesecake before dinner!) I also got one of their very expensive ($18) almond cakes. It is about 11" in diameter, 2" thick, and very dense. Last time I got one was about 3 years ago, and i cut it up into about a dozen small slices and froze them!! Works out to about $1.50 per slice, and one small slice is plenty. Lasted me quite a while, so worth the money. If you ever happen to be driving down the coast on one of those days during the times it is open, make sure you stop there. It is on the south side of the town, and tucked back on a side street. Just drive around until you see a lot of cars parked and a line formed in the sidewalk!

Then drove down to Cape Perpetua Visitor Center, took some photos, then to the day use are next to it. A two-mile drive to get to the day use area, but it is at the very top of a big mountain and has a fantastic overlook view of the Pacific. I watched some small grey whales for quite a while. I am worn out with some sore muscles from all my walking, but took some aspirin and am resting before I fix a sandwich out of the sourdough bread. Will post some photos tomorrow of my drive to Cape Perpetua, which is only about 6 miles from here.

I made it to town almost in time for one of the homecoming parades. They had all the streets block in the down town area. I managed to get to the bank and the deli to pick up some catfish but had to backtrack to the truck bypass that goes around town. Went to Tractor Supply and got a dump cart, went to the post office and got out of town.

Luna followed me out to the barn and rolled in some cow poo. She had to have a bath.

Judy, sounds like you are set with cake for a while. There is a bakery in Lafayette that makes all kinds of good desserts. It's kind of hard to get in and out of there so I seldom stop, thank goodness.

I would like to have all the money insurance companies spend trying to get people to take a medicare advantage policy. I get one or two letters from them almost every day. Since I have a post office box I get some there too. They are just a little too anxious to sell these policies.

Judy, glad you found a nice sourdough bakery. I absolutely adore sourdough, but I can't get it here within 50 miles of where I live.

No bakeries, either, so not pastries of any kind. Unless you call the grease-filled semi-bread tubes they sell in my local Walmart as "eclairs". I love chocolate eclairs too. I bought a 3-pack of them once in Walmart - they looked yummy. When I got them home I took one bite and threw them in the trash.

Martha, I have heard a lot of bad things about Medicare (so-called) "Advantage". From what I understand, the "Advantage" is all on the side of the insurance company, not much "Advantage" to the patient trying to get care.

I'm going to stick with straight Medicare, and a supplement through United Healthcare. But I need to shop that one around, because the plan is getting really expensive, and I am reading that United Healthcare is getting into some fraudulent billing trouble with the Feds.

Oh well. It never seems to stop for us older folks.

Luckily, I only get to this part of the country once every year or two. It has been three years since I have been here, so I don't feel guilty.

Good bakeries that make things from scratch are really hard to find anymore. I get really irritated when I think I have found a good bakery and go there, only to find it mainly makes donuts!! Here is a link to a page showing Pacific Sourdough's pastries! https://www.pacificsourdough.com/gallery/

There is also a wonderful bakery, but a German bakery, in the small town of Tehachapi. Tehachapi is on the pass where everyone goes when they travel from Bakersfield and cities north, to Las Vegas. I always stop at the bakery and stock up.
And Dearborn, Michigan, the city next to Detroit, has some fantastic bakeries because there are so many Middle Easterners living there, and some of those countries were originally colonized by the French, so they not only specialize in middle eastern things like baklava, but they also make a lot of French pastries. Yum.

If anyone has any suggestions for good bakeries that sell bread and also pastries and things like cookies and cheesecake, let me know.

I spent way too much at the store today and thinking back I think only 3 items were not somewhat nutritious... I saw ravioli with that blend but no tortellini so got a 3 cheese tortellini
spinach as one recipe I looked at had it in it have carrots onion and celery I probably should have checked a recipe chosen one and made sure that I have all the ingredients... have you post your recipe on here Karen? ought to look but I do plan on making it tomorrow
got some chicken as well as ham want to make ham and creamed potatoes and peas for Sunday they had corn on the cob so got whatever the sale was think 4 for 3 Dollars oh make that 4 items not nutritious forgot about the slice of cake I usually get... I went past the orchids shouldn't have .... carried it around for awhile trying to decide if I wanted that color or one of the other's but it had so much blooms and several buds and I really liked the color so it came home with me..
that was quite the set of events Sue and that apple looks so yummy loved caramel apples.. my granddaughter before she got married made a dessert for her soon to be grandma found a recipe for caramel pears.... got to try some of the rejects was so good.... might get some and caramel dip would taste good...
read way too late last night derided to put down the book and go to the restroom when mom went into the restroom so it was much later when I finally got to bed ... my eyes have been really tired today..
decided that I was going to make some mores roses for the hat found a yellow and I think it's pistachio to use... hoping to get them done so that I can give it to the mom on Sunday
but two roses not sure it will happen
I reached out to two of my dd's to see if we could get together tomorrow one dd has a wedding to attend wasn't sure if timing would work out and the other will meet me in Driggs (if it happens ) I know she is busy trying to get things done on their new house... so I think I will ease their minds and not insist upon meeting up... I might go over to the cemetery but not even sure about that at this point ... yesterday would have been our 54th anniversary not sure why but it's been a harder one than most... oh well they do come every year
