Good chilly morning. 34°/ 66° it is so damp and chilly out but no breeze. Tomorrow is going to warm up to 75. There was no sitting on the deck this morning!!!! I even turned on my heat, need to take the chill out was only 60 in my house this morning. Turned on my heated throw, got my coffee, all is well. Since I have a metal awning it was full of condensation dripping all over so happy I covered my chairs last night. Need to get the garbage to the curb but he doesnt come until about 11 so I have some time.

Going to organize my closet today and put the summer clothes away and get out the winter duds. Everything is washed so good time to pack it away. Got most of my papers filed yesterday so that chore is almost finished. Then going to start going thru the drawers to eliminate what I dont like to wear, what is too small, what is too big. If I havent worn it in a couple of years time for it to go to a new home. Time to get it cleaned out. When it isnt raining or damp out the next few days I will finish in the garden.

Time for second cup of coffee and think about breakfast in a bit.

Monday topped out at 98*, today looks like about 75*. What a difference!

Unfortunately, looks like it will warm up again to mid-to-upper 80's later in the week, but I'll take the cooler weather while I have it.

Made an uneventful drive back from my RoadTrek GTG in North Carolina. I left a couple days early because as I predicted Jane did finally come into season. We got back with time to get four new tires purchased for the rig after the blow out of one of them on the interstate in West Virginia heading down. Carrying a full sized spare and Coach Net coverage provided great service at no additional cost, but common sense makes one think that if one of the tires blew....Lets not trust the others any more even if they weren't quite 5 years old yet.

There were nine rigs in attendance at the GTG. I had met several of the ladies before but a couple of the rigs (both new and vintage) were newly purchased and this was their first adventure out meeting women they had never met before. Several did admit to carrying small hatchets. More seasoned travelers were able to explain features of some of the rigs better than the selling owners or dealers ever did. Point out the benefit of app like Allstays, etc. And in general insure more confidence to keep venturing out. One of the ladies, who tows a small boat behind her vintage RoadTrek, actually had her steering column go out on her and through some local marina connections had her vehicle towed to a mechanics lot, had her boat towed to the lake we were on and still camped with us for two days until she had to leave and face the verdict and deal with the future of her rig. She was a hoot and her storytelling talents were right up there with Nan's. I introduced the group to the concept of supporting a "bail fund" after the telling of three of the ladies adventure boating and behavior during ice cream purchases at one of the lake's marinas. It is good to know that the spirit of adventure and good mischief is alive and well in the somewhat younger folks....

Jane and I head north to Michigan tomorrow to north of Lansing tomorrow morning. We have permission to park the rig and plug in at the stud dog's house and stay as long as is needed. Off now to turn the refrigerator back on and replenish a few supplies and we are on the road again.

Tina, I love that you are taking the bail fund forward to live on. But I've never understood carrying a hatchet.

Weather is being nice to me. I was worried about the humidity, but overall it's been nice. The guy helping me has been in and measured what he needs to frame in the fridge. I'm guessing he'll be in later today to finish that. I've made a Walmart delivery order (delivers free, I'll tip) coming this afternoon and I'll be able to really test the fridge.

The small hatchets and saws….. are carried for helping creat firewood from scavenged wood. The reference is made at how many women have been warned by their families about going off into the wilderness to meet up with some women they met over the internet….. because these strangers could be ax murderers. When Nan and I met up for the first time with Shiela 12 years or so ago for dinner….. her daughter Merry came with her mom because Larry had worried about these women RVers….

Well, guess it’s time to check in for a change. I’ve remembered Rabbits every month...woohoo for me. I’ve also read the forum every day. It’s been an extremely warm and dry Fall here. We haven’t had any measurable rain since August. The wind, dust, and pollen have been miserable for us allergy sufferers. Lots of equipment fires while the farmers are harvesting. Ryan almost lost his combine last week but got the fire out before any major damage.

Shirl: I made perpetual vanilla for my friends Christmas gift a couple years ago. One of my friends drank hers with diet Coke.

Beth: Your refrigerator looks like the one we bought when the refrigerator in the TT died. It was an Avanti, and I think it was an 8 CF. The outlet for the 2 way wouldn’t support it, something about RV refrigerators not having a compressor or something like that. We always had to run a separate cord for it. Luckily the refrigerator for the 5th is still working for the kids.

Sue: I just made a down payment on the Generac 2200. But it probably won’t get installed this winter, the hurricanes have caused an overload of orders for the company. Your pictures were beautiful.

Ann: I checked my electric bill, and we paid .12 for KW hour. Our last bill was about 157. And that is with the a/c running 24/7, 2 refrigerators, 2 freezers, 2 washer and dryers, an electric water heater, and electric stove.

Sheila: You asked about other things to put in the grape salad. Sometimes I’ll add strawberries, fresh peaches or cantaloupe. Glad you had a nice trip! Having a little “gofer” living in the basement must be handy. One of my friend’s mother lives in her basement. They call her Arthur because of the old tv show King of Queens.

BJ, Martha and Karen (the Beet Eaters) I love pickled beets, but I can’t stand plain cooked beets. They taste like dirt to me, but so do blueberries. Someone told me that it is a genetic thing kind of like cilantro tasting like soap to some.

Judy: Yes, it does sound like you will have a slimmer wallet. Just be happy everything is fixed. Sticks and bricks have expenses too. I’ve gotten most of my health care appointments taken care of for the year. All I have left is my mammogram and bone density tests next Tuesday.

Irmi: That really is terrible that your casita isn’t wired correctly. But I am glad that you didn’t have a lot of damage from the hurricane.


If I forgot someone, I’m sorry! I had a lot of months to cover!
I don’t see as much of the grands this year. Avon School approached Ashley asking her to consider taking the head of the SPED department and she decided to take it. So, the kids ride to and from school with her. So no more before and after school seeing them. Bronc is a 5th grader and Haddie a 2nd grader. Bronc just finished his football season. His team didn’t do great came in last of the conference. He has been pretty bummed since they won it last year. Haddie…well Hurricane is doing fine. She’s still upset that I took the swimming pool down for the season.

That is astonishing. I am slowly coming to the conclusion that PG&E (.48 KWH!!) has a monopoly here in northern California. It's either PG&E - or nothin'!

WOW Pat that is really a reasonable electricity bill. My bill was only $88 and that is with not having to use any heat or AC this month ha ha well maybe once or twice. Good to see you posting as always. I dont like Cilantro it definitely tastes like soap to me ha ha

Had a couple of house fires here in town today. Everyone was lucky and got out safe but the message of the day from the fire dept is "working smoke alarms and sleeping with bedroom doors closed saves lives." I do sleep with my bedroom door closed except when it was so hot this summer I left it open a few times but it is generally closed. And my smoke alarms are one outside the door and one inside the bedroom. I even bought a couple of fire extinguishers last year. I only had one in the RV most of my life so decided for the cost it would be prudent of me to buy a couple for the house. It was cold today so more people are using their woodstoves and fireplaces already. Important to get the chimneys cleaned each year.

Heated up some of my roasted chicken and beets and some Thai noodle salad for dinner Was good. Now getting ready to enjoy my evening.

thanks Karen for the infro on the hot chocolate...will have someone help me order some unless Fred Myres is a Kroger... there is one in Idaho Falls "kid downstairs" lives near there perhaps he can find some but that price is so good... not taking in account the shipping though... hmmm maybe...
it has cooled down here as well hope it helps our local fire... it's miles away but we get the smoke or smell of smoke got in the car today and it smelled so strong of smoke first time I've been in it since Monday and the smoke was really bad that day I really wanted to turn around and go back to where it wasn't smokey
we are having a "party" meeting tomorrow with several women including three of my dd's to celebrate mom's b'day now here is hoping she will want to go... just told her some days she doesn't want to go anywhere... I totally get that some day's I just have to force myself to go out
the mysterious leftover in the freezer turned out to be sausage gravy so we had breakfast for dinner...
so glad to hear from you Pat... you did good it's some times sad when things change and we don't get to spend as much time as we used to with the grandkids...
the 'kid downstairs" asked me if we have any guns in the house nope he said might be a good idea... I imagine that he does at least what I know of his family he probably does.... I never understood the concept of a hatchet other than to cut wood... Larry did have fun with the ax killer comment.... when he would meet any one he would look at me and say hmmm don't think that is the axe murderer
what I need is someone to help me organize everything I want to organize it seems over whelming some days look at one thing and order to do that need to do something else first makes one wonder where to start then it's just easier to sit on the bed and crochet...
I actually started the rose for the hat and the first row was spot on that made me excited !!!
Beth I know it is so exciting to get the fridge in and working...then to be able to fill it...looks like a lot of room in it

Karen, this is interesting. I quite like Cilantro - I especially like it in tomato salsa. As for beets. . . ugh! I have never been able to eat beets, they taste like dirt to me. I don't even like the smell of beets, especially cooked beets! It never crossed my mind that there might be some kind of genetic component to my tastebuds - but I'm now guessing that might be the case!
