MONDAY 11/14

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

MONDAY 11/14

Postby OregonLuvr » Mon Oct 14, 2024 10:17 am

Good morning. It is 47 but will warm to 77 today. Chance of rain this week. We shall see. Just going to putter around the house today. Eye doc appt tomorrow for my injections. It has been 8 weeks now so hope all is still good. Bunco on Wednesday so a few things on the calendar this week.

BJ I guess I am lucky I found a great PA for my primary. If I have labs drawn they call me that day or the next to either say everything is good or address any unusual labs. Same with my CT scans, they call me and so does my pulmonologist. Even tho I have usually looked at the results on MyChart too. Thank goodness I dont have to have any more CT's right now and only see my primary and my pulmonologist once a year now.

Got my meal plans for this week done and don't need to do any shopping as I have everything. Having roasted veggies and salmon for dinner tonight. Judy I like pickled beets too but prefer plain with butter and salt. BJ they usually sell fresh beets in the produce section. I dont buy them too often as I think they are pretty pricey. So I grow my own and I can pick a few at a time to pop in my Instant pot. Then they peel really easily.
Martha I didnt get to see the Northern Lights again the other night as they were not going to be visible until around 11pm. We all know that is WAY past my bedtime ha ha

Most of the new fall shows start this week. Looking forward to that. I wont get to watch them tonight. Since I am streaming they will be on a day later after airing. I dont mind because sometimes I am busy so dont get to watch them until later in the week or on the weekend.

I watched a couple of good movies the last couple of days and am now perusing the other movies I might like. I usually dont watch them all the way thru at the same time. I like to watch after lunch most of the time when I am done with my chores or just taking a break Sometimes takes a couple of days. And sometimes I have a couple going especially if they are a series with seasons. I watch the local news in the morning on my OTA antenna and that is it for me and news for the day.

Time to go weigh and then have some breakfast So far I have lost 4lbs we shall see today.

Just a quick check in. One of the best books I've read about the Oregon Trail. Written by twin sisters about their journey. The Oregon Trail Diary of Twin Sisters, Cecelia Adams and Parthenia Blank in 1852

https://www.amazon.com/Oregon-Trail-Sisters-Cecilia-Parthenia/dp/0936738480

Just outside of Guernsey, Wyoming is a part of the Oregon Trail where the ruts are over four feet deep. There is an RV park right by the area. Amazing to see. It is a day by dairy. One day the mention the old lady died, she was 55. Talk about all the belongings left along the trail. And a day of rest and every thing they had to do that day. Laundry, cleaning rearranging, baking and cooking. etc. Well worth the price to read it.

Carol, that is a book I would love to read!

My roommate and I spent all morning (almost 4 hours!) talking about lots of stuff. Tried out my new shower head and it works great! I can't believe I got that thing installed and had no leaks! Need to finish cleaning and organizing stuff in the bathroom. I have some phone calls to make and then want to put my new nightstand together and get that organized. It has 4 drawers and 2 shelves. One shelf has an outlet for regular plugs and charging station which will be very convenient.

I might have to get Sophie her own casita. She tries to go in with Romeow and he swats at her and won't let her in. :(

Judy, I understand about the cardboard and tape all over. I had to do that with the ferrets since they could and would get into any tiny nook and cranny!

Have a good day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

I was remembering about my cat sitting week. The cat could pull my lower kitchen cabinets open and crawl into them to paw around what was in there, so I had to use masking tape to keep each of them closed so she would not rearrange stuff and bring it out onto the floor. The funny thing is that she was never that ambitious at my son's house, so I think my condo was a sort of amusement park for her. She was the same cat that I found out was drinking from my glass of ice water that was on the nightstand when I stayed there, and kept spilling it on the floor. I got smart and used a water bottle with a lid on it from then on!

My son's current cat is not so active, but she does follow me around and watch me from a distance--she never gets closer than about 12-15 feet from me, but she is almost always there. For example, if I go down to the basement, she follows me and sits partway down the steps so she can keep an eye on me. Not quite sure what she thinks I might do, but she is a very suspicious cat, and it is funny to have a cat following you and watching wherever you go. Found out she does this with a few other people she does not trust.

Fleetwood service identified the water heater I needed, but did not have it in stock, so I left there after about an hour. They called me later and said they would have it tomorrow, but we decided on Wednesday on a better day, so I will get over there at 7:15 am on Wednesday to get it installed. It will be expensive, but what can I do? It has a crack in it, and I am afraid it will come apart someday when I hit a bump. Leak is slow now, but will rot the floor and cause other damage, so got to get it fixed. Tomorrow I get my brakes checked and have a doctor appt. Got three loads of laundry done today, at least, but not much sleep last night so will try to get to bed really early tonight. DOn't have to be at brakes place until 9 am.

I did make it home today my brother was suppose to be here about 2:30 or so he thought he would leave about 11:30 and it's a 3 hour drive... so I left about 12:30 it took awhile to transfer from one car to the other ( we got to St. Anthony) late last night so just took in the needed... concintrator bag that had clean clothes and pj's and bag with stuff in it... hooked up the concintrator (would someone tell me how to spell it as I don't know and the spell check doesn't find the right word) plugged it in and no oxygen my grandson found some kinks in the hose still no air finally just took it off why wear it if no oxygen coming through... it sounded good (the machine) thought perhaps the canula was plugged so replaced it that didn't help... so this afternoon got a new green hose thinking it was just kinked too bad.... so replaced it (really glad I had a new one) viola oxygen as I was rolling up the hose (so I could stuff it into a bag) I found a split in the hose no wonder it didn't work...
I am tired
I should have literally made a note to myself as someone made a comment or asked a question or said something that I was going to reply to and now I can't recall what it was :?
my feet are swollen sure hope they go down soon...
so enjoyed my trip and over time I will comment on it tonight just still weary
I really like beets but don't make them often usually not from fresh as it takes way to long...
but when at a salad bar will add beets to the salad and love pickled beets but not all of them... there was a guy in Q that he would bring down some that were so good... wonder if he has taught his new wife how to make them..
mom has slept a lot tonight to be expected I guess
and it's so smoky here not planning on going anywhere tomorrow unless it's to get mail... I would have picked it up today but I was late as I decided to get a few groceries and wanted to get into the garage while I could... but really don't want to go out tomorrow
you all have a great day
