Good morning ladies. Been a while since I’ve posted but been trying to keep up with everyone’s posts. Been nice traveling with you! And Barbie you are getting down to the wire with your move. Our weather has definitely started to feel like fall. Today it’s much cooler with rain and wind. Leaves are starting to fall and blow all over the place. Still a fair amount of green but it seems to change every day! Plus rain for the next several days which we need. I’m glad I have Buddy finally using the treadmill. He now goes on it with no coaxing and I don’t even have to have a leash on him. Still using treats but have cut way back on that. Of course we still try to get outside for walks too but on rainy days like today it’s been a lifesaver. Or rather my sanity saver! Otherwise I haven’t done much but work around the house and yard. Sadly I haven’t been able to do any traveling but have taken a day trip here and there. So that about wraps up my not so exciting life. Hope you all have a good week and stay cool or warm as the case may be!

So happy to hear of Buddy's amazing progress. He is one lucky dog to have found you.

Yay for Buddy. That's great progress.

This KOA puts out coffee, tea, and hot chocolate in the morning for guests in the lobby. Even the motels I've stayed at with stuff in rooms only had coffee and tea. On this nippy morning I was in for a hot chocolate! Yum We were in the 50's then. Up to 72 now heading to mid 80's. It's a changing clothes day lol Pants and long sleeve shirt with light jacket will soon be a sundress. We're staying here another night before heading to the casita. I discovered they have a microwave in the coffee area. I'm going to ask if that's available for guest use. I have some mashed potatoes and gravy and one spicy chicken strip in my cooler. I'll eat the chicken cold, but not the mashed potatoes.

Karen. I also read that this will be the hottest year on record. I don't think any of us doubt that. I certainly don't want to see it become an every year thing!

Yesterday I went to the hospice lunch. The cafe is on a beautiful property. The name is Rip Van Winkle Gardens. There is mansion that I have toured but it was damaged by a storm last year and hasn't been repaired yet. They just reopened the cafe recently. Years ago I went to a couple of plays there. A lot of people like to take pictures on the property. I ordered half a muffuletta. I ate half and brought some home along with a piece of cheesecake. I try to limit myself to a couple of bites of cheesecake a day.

Today it's up to 98 again. Yesterday I was going to go mow in Maurice after lunch but the radar showed scattered showers in that area so waited until today. It was hot but partly cloudy with a breeze so that helped.

Sharon, does Buddy's treadmill have a name? I would sure like to put Luna on one sometimes but we have to settle for chasing a ball. If she doesn't get enough exercise she bothers me a lot at night wanting to play.

Irmi, today they are saying the possible storm is heading to Florida. It hasn't even formed yet. Hope it just fizzles out and is nothing.

Hi ladies! I agree with the hottest year on record with the temperatures we've been having. Today our high was 93 and we were sitting outside in the pergola which has afternoon shade plus we had the paddle fan going. Martha, I've been following the storm and right now, the weather people are saying the gulf coast of FL and panhandle could be where the storm makes land fall, but it's still a couple days out. Like you, I hope it just goes away. I'm not in the mood for having to bungee all the outside furniture together again.

Irmi If the tracking I just saw holds, I think you and Martha will both be safe. Fingers crossed.

Meantime it just popped into my head that I might want to stay here another night. I know I'll be busy getting ready to leave and going crazy when I get back, so maybe I deserve another calming day like I've had today. No idea if the cabin is available for another night but if I'm still feeling this way in the morning I'll check and that answer will decide my fate.

It's jello plans Beth Jello plans!!! sometimes those R&R days are needed especially when traveling.... did you get to use the microwave? cold mashed potatoes would be a no go for me as well...
Sharon I was going to put out a hey what's up with Sharon she hasn't be on in forever and there you were... so good to see you post... that is neat that Buddy is getting on the treadmill ... amazing what treats will lead to... there is one of the ladies that was on the "old" forum that she still has to bribe her dog to go outside for some reason he really doesn't like to but he will for the "cookies" I think it was good that you have been able to back off a bit ... yea for both of you
Irmi and Martha sure hope that that storms doesn't seek your area out... I've heard of that sandwich Martha but sure don't know what it is ... I think I want to get a bungee cord to keep my consentrator upright when I take it on the road (it's not a portable) so do take it when planning on going places that I will be at for several days like down to Utah and trips that take me awhile to get out of the high altitudes ... when we go to youngest daughter's I am debating won't need it there only one maybe two nights on the way so might be able to get along with just the tanks I have 12 of them... will give it a thought but if I don't stack stuff next to the machine it ends up falling over which isn't good for it.. I bet that is quite the task to bungee cord all of the furniture together then to undo it... you really should post a picture of it the next time... although we can always hope there is no next time but do fishes fly (I know there are some species that do)
good luck in your search Anne the prices are outrages but perhaps smaller towns might not be so bad... if you didn't mind leaving the west coast area the mid west has a lot less expensive homes like more for the buck you haven't mentioned your garden or I haven't seen it... how did it do this year?
I think we all agree with Karen that this year has been very hot
had the chimney sweep come by today for the pellet stove had to get up earlier than normal to wait for him but then I lazed on the bed with FB then after read scriptures and took a nap so much for the added hour of being awake

Thank you, Sheila. I love the geology of the west (volcanoes! ), and have lived in California most of my life, so I am looking at Washington State as well as Oregon. Unfortunately, many of the smaller cities/towns here on the West Coast (where the price of homes might be less) often lack medical facilities. LOL - always something!

The area of Idaho where you live is very expensive (as you noted) but has some amazing volcanic areas. Have you ever visited Craters of the Moon National Monument? An amazing volcanic area, not too far from you, if I remember correctly.

I didn't do a garden this year - I'm finding that even the minimal amount of work required for a smallish garden is beyond what I can cope with when temps are consistently in the mid to upper 100's week after week.

The temp topped out at 106* here today - I'm not able at the moment to post personal photos (that are not already on the web somewhere) otherwise I would post a photo of my thermometer showing this temp.

I read online that there is a high pressure system pushing in, and that temps are expected to be 15* to 20* above normal in the San Francisco Bay area. That means that temps in my area will rise also - I just don't know by how much.

Definitely not looking forward to it getting any hotter here than it already is.
