Mornin'!
I've been really bad about checking in! I did check in on the 1st, I think on a 2nd thread, but the whole thread went poof! Oh well.

Currently back in Texas. Haven't enjoyed this summers travel much since I left AZ so late after house repairs. High tailed it to IL wedding, so I was in place for a month. Now quickly heading back to AZ.

I do hope to get to Monument Valley this Fall, so I'll be zig zagging back north a bit. Thank goodness! It's hot and humid here in TX. Only came for vehicle and trailer inspection and to visit a friend hopefully near Kerrville. Hopefully next year I can leave AZ in April as usual.

Good morning Cheryl. Chilly here this morning 46 to definitely fallish for sure. We will warm up to 82 this afternoon. Right now it is a wee bit chilly in my house 63. I have my sweats on and covered up with a fleece throw. I dont need the heated throw yet tho ha ha

I am going to finish deep cleaning my kitchen today. Will drag out my big vacuum and do the living room and family room. Henry does great but every once in a while I want a deep vacuum of the rugs. Will run over to the donation center later and get rid of those bags and box of stuff. I am not fond of clutter and right now they are clutter!!!!

Sheila I just use a box cake mix usually Duncan Hines, I am too lazy anymore to make cakes from scratch ha ha I used to but this works out just dandy. Beth glad you are almost home. I actually love road trips in the car. Seems like it always took way less time to get somewhere in the car vs Motorhome. But loved the RV too. Anymore between the costs of RV parks and gas if you have an economical car might even be cheaper. I always look for the Mom & Pop motels too. When Laura and I took our 2 week car trip several years ago we stayed at all those kind of motels except for once in Page....ugh we preferred the smaller ones.

Tomorrow morning I will make a crustless quiche. Sausage, cheese, mushroom, eggs, onions and seasonings. So easy. Is really just a breakfast casserole but they called it quiche. I snagged a couple of recipes, one with frozen hashbrowns so I might try that one next week. I love just zapping it in the micro for breakfast or lunch. Making myself hungry now LOL but just a muffin and some bacon that I cooked last week. Then will get busy. I run out of gas after lunch so need to get stuff done in the morning after coffee of course.

Karen, I need to check my recipes. Heck I might have posted it on the recipe page here for some eggs with other things in muffin tins. Then I'd freeze them and just pop one in the microwave. So good.

Cheryl, always good to hear from you. This has been a weird summer most everywhere, I think. But with waiting so long to get on the road, more so for you. I waited longer than I intended to do this SD trip and still it's been too hot! I just checked and while I'm in 50 degree temps right now, mid 80's the mercy couple days, then that area and my Benson park will be back in the mid to high 90's. Not normal. At least cool evenings and overnight.

I'm just putzing around this morning since I have a reservation for tonight and it should be less than a 5 hour drive. Check in time is 3 and I'll aim for that (even though most are good am hit or two early). It won't take me long to pack up the car and get on the road.

Good afternoon ladies!

Beth, you are moving right along. I'm so glad you were able to go to Custer State Park and visit the country store where you worked. Cheryl, it's good hearing from you. Sue, are you okay? Lyn, you've got to be enjoying your trailer and being close to your family. Karen, your morning temperatures have certainly cooled off. I love it when we can open doors and windows, but so far, that hasn't happened often. Sheila, I often think about you and your Mom. I have been in your situation, and it isn't easy. Anita, I'm looking forward to your next trip. Barbie, you must being getting excited about your move and being so much closer to your brother and sister in law. Shirl, it shouldn't be too long before you'll be able to get outside with cooler temperatures approaching. Martha, that must have been a job getting the trailer moved. From what our weatherman on the news is saying, the tropical depression they're watching will stay out to sea for a bit longer. Let's hope it goes anywhere besides to the gulf coast where you are or FL.

I've been reading the daily posts and then I get involved doing something here and don't check in until the next morning. Then the same thing happens. We have been able to sit in the pergola for the past few days. Our temperatures are in the low 90's but the humidity is much lower than it has been plus the pergola has afternoon shade. With the paddle fan on and the afternoon breeze, it's not bad out there. Stay safe!

Hi gals!

Been super busy finishing up sorting and packing. I brought almost all my food over to Gloria's daughter, Liz's place today. Liz's sister-in-law was there and she volunteers for the local food shelf so she will go thru it all and take what she can. It was a sad "good-bye" with me and Gloria. We will keep in touch by phone tho.

Still have several things on my list of things to do today that I need to get to. Been at it for 9 hours now, slowly but surely. Just finished my last box of stuff from the porch to go thru. I took the things out of the shed this morning that are coming with me, so that is done. Luckily, I am feeling more peppy today, so am getting a lot done.

Tomorrow will be taking the RV to the RV dealer (fingers crossed!) in the morning. Then will make some phone calls, clean out my car, and start cleaning the house.

**** I have a couple of questions.... I just came across a box of old lap tops, a couple notebooks, and a Nook, all are many years old and way outdated. Any ideas on where I can take those for disposal/recycling? And do I need to do anything with them before getting rid of them?

If the laptops are really old, they are probably not worth donating. First, you should delete all the files on your hard drive and then delete your recycle bin.

Then take the hard drive out and drill a hole in it with a power drill. Optionally, hit it a few times with a big hammer until it is in little pieces.

Actually, I think Best Buy takes old laptops. Found this article on disposing of old laptops securely and without polluting. https://reviewed.usatoday.com/laptops/f ... our-laptop

82, you say. Nice - I guess. :? Topped out at 103* here today; mostly in this range for the rest of the week according to weather.gov

Not feelin' fallish at all at the moment. Hoping for it, but definitely not here yet.

Soon, I hope.

Treating myself to a Walmart grocery delivery tomorrow. I need to drop a couple jewelry orders off at the post office tomorrow, but I try to limit my stops - time out in the heat - when it is this hot.

Karen, I agree about the mom and pop motels usually, too. I'm getting the best deals using the KOA camping cabins. I like these little cabins. Even with how much I've ended up paying for motels and these cabins I'll be ahead of what this would have cost with the RV. I'll never regret the traveling I did and I couldn't have done and seen the country without the RV, but I'm thinking those days may be over for me.

So i got up to weather in the 40's this morning. Spent 1/2 or more of my day driving with clouds and weather mid-50s. Then I hit the sun and went from heater to ac in the car. When I got to this KOA I changed immediately to a sundress. This is my kind of weather it'll cool off overnight into the 50's and be mid-80's during the day. It's what Benson is doing now BUT after I get there they'll be going back into the 90's. Cool at night, luckily. I'm nervous that my place in Texas will be too hot still when I get there. Time will tell.

Beth I would definitely do the cabins if I wasnt just on a road trip. I just cant carry all the supplies anymore. I used to tent camp (way back in the day) and loved it. But had all the conveniences (ie: battery operated blender ha ha) stove, tent, air mattresses, solar shower, lanterns etc. Now I am good with a motel with a bathroom and shower LOL I do miss RV'ing and like you I saw and traveled almost everywhere I wanted to go. I like being settled. I keep busy most of the time and others I am a sloth ha ha and that is ok too

Anne yes you really do need to move or go somewhere else for an extended visit. Our weather is just perfect for me right now. Tuesday will be our hot day then on Thursday temps drop 20°, go figure. BUT I am loving it. Martha sure hope you arent hurting too much today. Sheila I make those "egg bites" every so often. I like that you can throw anything in them and they freeze well.

well off to bed morning comes early (for me LOL)

I could just say "same ole same ole" and that would take care of my Sunday!!!
when I went on my trip was it last fall think so I stayed at a couple of mom/pop motels they were just as comfortable as the name brands...but then the breakfast draw me in and the ease of finding them... the two I did stop at was desperation getting late and I was so ready to quit driving... I need to next time I drive somewhere do shorter days ....
it's 44 here according to computer I opened up the kitchen window while fixing supper forgot to close it right now it's chilly in here (I just closed the window)... not sure what the temps have been outside didn't really look thought it would be chilly at church so wore my cape it was hot enough I didn't need it... at least in the sun it was
have safe travels Beth
do you know what you plan on doing next summer Cheryl? it will be fun for you to be in you new home without worrying about repairs ...
Karen thanks for telling my what cake mix you use... the recipe I use for chocolate cake is super easy and I still make it but wanted to try this one... and would have liked it if it had been more moist ask me has that stopped me from eating it .... I will be glad when it's gone... kid downstairs has made headway with it  it's kind of you to give Henry a break
it's too bad Anne that fall is hiding from you for awhile it will come probably not according to the calendar
it's sounds like you are right on top of things Barbie getting down to counting on one hand
you all take care

Fall is definitely hiding from me - if I could only find it. I have looked everywhere!

Personally, I am looking forward to those 44* days. We do have them here - although not often.

Karen, I can tell you for certain (Warning: more weather griping here! ) that this past - and current - summer is by far the hottest summer I have ever experienced in my more than forty-five years of living in my area. There haven't been more than maybe ten days since May when temps have been less than 100* - and even those "cooler" days have been high 80's/mid 90's.

Here we are, staring at October in the headlights. . . and yesterday was 103*, today and tomorrow might make 105*.

Still looking at real estate points north. Have been casting my web a bit wider just now - I have been looking in Klamath Falls for several years, and just can't seem to find the "right" property (add to that the fact that KF home prices have literally doubled since I first started looking).

Kicking virtual real estate tires all the way up to southern Washington state. I prefer a "stick-built" home, because buying a mobile in a park worries me a bit due to the current issues of hedge funds all over the country buying up parks and then jacking up lot rents to over-the-moon.

This one is about Florida; in reality this is happening all over the country:

https://www.wftv.com/news/action9/companies-are-buying-local-mobile-home-parks-jacking-up-rent/IRS5YMZYKNBMPIP7BITU5XPHKA/

Real estate has gotten so dang expensive - everywhere - I know I should have made my move long since.

No sight like hindsight! 8-)

Doing my best. . .

Anne
