Hellloooooo, anybody here! Guess the hot weather has you all down. We have a beautiful day here, with less humidity than yesterday. That humidity caused pop up storms late yesterday afternoon. We had a severe storm come through about 5 p.m. and we just caught the edge with heavy rain. But up the road about a mile and a half or so they had downed trees and some damaged awnings on campers at the state park and downed trees, some on homes, downed power lines too, on the west side of Otsego Lake. We had plenty of lead time before this hit thanks to the national weather service. One of our local TV stations was also tracking it and I was watching the radar. I could see it look like it was just barely going to go by here. Prior to that my weather radio went off with the warning, And about 15 minutes or so later both of my phones went off and also the TV with warnings. When we have bad weather coming like that. I always put the TV on The Weather Channel so I can monitor the bulletins on the screen. I put both the emergency bags downstairs in my storm room, collared the dogs and put a pair of shoes on and then waited to see what was going to happen. The weather has been a bit odd this summer inthat we don’t have a lot of organized storm fronts coming across, but the atmosphere has been such that we get these pop-ups times like yesterday, and they have been three tornadoes in parts of northern Michigan in the past three weeks or so. EFO to EF1. that is very unusual. More than we see in an entire summer. Plus a number of isolated storm wind damages in places.

Carol, as Martha says, you have to be the highest temps of everybody on here. Karen, hope your fire gets controlled. I saw something about a wildfire this morning but I didn’t catch where it was Judy, I don’t think any vehicle power windows will work after the engine is shut off, but mine will for a few minutes. Barbie, exciting times for you.

I’m heading off to fertilize the flowers out front at the entrance. Just got home from major grocery shopping. Then dogs and I will head for a walk.

Sue, was that the remains of Beryl causing trouble? I don't know how far North he/she has gotten. There were a lot of tornados in North Louisiana and Arkansas yesterday. I am sure glad I got the yard mowed because I got an inch and a half of rain early this morning. I don't know if I should go see if it rained that much in Maurice or not. I hate to load the mower and go if it's too wet to mow.

Good morning Sue. Sounds like you had a "weather event" in your neck of the woods. We are just having a "heat event" will be 106 again today. Morning was even warm so it didnt cool down as much as I like. Opened the door and windows but it didnt help much. I keep my thermostat at 77 or 78 and have a stand up fan blowing in the family area so not too bad. Martha glad you didnt take a hit from Beryl. Send some of your rain here (I wish) we need to cool down

I got a call from doc office yesterday wanted to schedule my cataract surgery for tomorrow but called this morning and said the person that cancelled got medical clearance so back to the original schedule of end of August. She will keep me on the cancelled list so that is fine. I really like having a scheduled visit LOL I didnt have too much time to get some things done but now I do LOL

Think since I am in "jail" I will shampoo my family room and hall tomorrow. I like doing the high traffic areas a couple times a year. Easier to clean if I dont let it go too long. Today bathrooms and kitchen floor, then it will heat up in here whether I want it to or not so then it is time to be a sloth.

Guess I will check on lunch, just something simple

Not too hot here--high only 84, but sticky out. I made more am today--think I got it right this time. Also made some barbecue sauce for the ribs I cooked the other day. I HATE the barbecue sauce you buy in the store because it has that fake smoke stuff. Also in process of making a couple of small loaves of bread. Need some stuff from store, but that means leaving dog in rig while I shop, so as much as I dislike getting up early, I will go in the morning before 9 am. Will be partly cloudy then, so should be able to rush into Walmarts and grab what I need before RV gets too hot.

I really like where I am staying, at least I like it Sunday through Friday morning. Punderson has most spots down by the lake, but there are a few where I am, which is out of the way, on top of a hill next to the water tank. 17 sites here but only three occupied today!!! Yea!!! There were four of us yesterday, and that includes the camp host. Not as many distractions for the dog.

Hope those of you being held prisoner by the heat have some cooling down soon!

Not too hot here--high only 4,

Judy, you get the prize for the coolest spot on the planet right now!

I am totally out of commission today (and for the next several days I imagine  ). I woke up with awful back spasms this morning in my lower and middle back! I can barely move around today. I am thinking it is from sitting up on my bed for most of the day (and night) the past few days because my bedroom is much cooler than the living room right now, and I was probably not sitting with the best posture on the bed. Otherwise, I am not really sure what caused it, but I am in pain no matter which way I move. I cancelled the bloodwork for this afternoon and the MRI for tomorrow.

I got a neighbor to come by a little while ago to clean out the litter box for me. Another neighbor will come by tomorrow to do that and anything else I need help with. I have a grabber thing that I have been using to pick things up as needed so I don't have to try and bend over. I figured out how to put food in the cat dish too. I have a long cardboard tube from some roll of something and kept the tube from it for some reason. But I put one end in the food dish and pour cat food in the other end and it goes down into the dish! Gotta get creative in times like this!
I am now sitting in the chair in the living room which keeps me sitting more upright and has more support for my back. I have the AC cranked and a fan on me. It isn't too warm in here now but it will be in a couple hours when the sun comes thru the back windows in here. I wish I would have gotten the bubble wrap on those windows yesterday.

Didn't get much sleep again last night again. I did take a little nap earlier tho. Will probably take another one here shortly. Tonight I will take an Advil PM when I go to bed to make sure I fall asleep right away. I think my body is telling me to just slow down mentally and physically.

It is 112* on the way up to 120* later. I guess Death Valley broke a record a couple days ago at 127* and is supposed to hit 130* in the next day or so. Once it gets over 110*, it is just unbearably hot no matter how much hotter it gets!

Sue, glad you keep a close eye on the weather up there so you can stay prepared. I used to have a NOAA weather radio in MN. I need to get one for the RV. The one I had tho was a real pain to set the counties I wanted warnings for. I had to look up codes for each county around me, on-line and then program those codes in. That would be a real PITA to do on the road when changing counties all the time. I am wondering if they are easier to program now or just find your location via satellite to know where you are, for the warnings to be sent out?

That is about it here for me. Have a good day and stay comfortable and safe!

No it wasn’t Martha. It was a humid day yesterday and the NWS said it it could trigger some storms, maybe some severe later in the day. This has been going on for over a month. The weather has been acting really strange. instead of having storm systems coming through dragging long lines of storms with it, We’re getting a little pop-up ones. Some get severe and some not. . There’s no given area. It’s kind of pop up here and there. The weather has everything coming out way earlier than normal. Flowers are blooming ahead of their normal season, bugs that appear at certain times of the summer are appearing. Mosquitoes have been notably absent around here the past two years. Not that there’s one here and there once in a while, but it’s past their time now. One that came through here was a small one that was growing as it came east and once it got past me, it really got big and merged in with some other ones to the north and made a huge storm. I don’t know what happened to the east of here, never heard anything. As I said it’s just been a strange weather summer. Remanents of Beryl will be here in Michigan tomorrow, but we are kind of right on the edge. The biggest part will be the central and southern lower peninsula. Our high for tomorrow is predicted to be 72°.

I fixed the high to 84. Long story but about two years ago, there was something stuck behind my "8" key, so I pulled the key off, cleaned it, and then tried to replace it. Never able to replace it right, so I have to hit it really hard to get it to work. Am not taking off any other keys!!

104 degrees at home today so I'll settle for clouds and 60s. We should arrive Valdez tomorrow unless we get sidetracked. Alaska Highway had a rough winter and is a driver's nightmare - well even the passenger at times. Our friends' thought they had the truck fixed so came to Whitehorse where the error code came on again. At least this time they are near a dealer! They were taking the Whitehorse Skagway train trip today which we did Sunday.

I've been reading bits and pieces on here when we have cell service.

That train trip is on my to-do list should I make it back to Alaska, Anita. I was wondering how your friends were doing. I hope things are finally fixed for them.

It was strange tonight taking a shower and having to turn the handle more to the cold side half way through lol. I can make the showers work and am used to them but always found I was changing the mix further and further to the hot side. It became normal after all these years.

Judy, I used to clean keys on my computers frequently, especially because a cat I had back then would sleep on them and hair was constantly getting behinrd the keys. Every now and then I'd have trouble replacing one. Usually after a few attempts I'd get it. But I can tell you once I got so frustrated that I went out and purchased a new keyboard and tried to remember to cover it when not in use. Then the cat could get comfortable and no hair under keys!

Usually I'm already in the RV by now for the night. I'm running behind. So off I go, waking Ty up to go pee and go to bed in the RV.

I just looked at the weather forecast it's suppose to get up to 88 tomorrow and 90 on Thursday now compared to others there it's not hot but it's all according to what you get used too... and according to my mom her theory being that with our altitude being so high and we are closer to the sun we feel it more... hmmm not sure how scientific that theory is but we do feel the heat when it's that high... but then it's a "dry" heat so glad for that
missed the snoozed alarm not sure when but woke up at 12:30 or close to it gave mom her thyroid pill and then decided why not told her to put her shoes on that we are going to China Kitchen so that is what we did... got home close to 3 didn't think she would want supper but around 5ish she was stalking my door  she will push her walker up look in my room and then go back to her chair... and repeat and repeat..... so finally I asked what she needed just wondered if you were going to fix supper... well dang not sure if I was going to but went and cut up the watermelon and put a loaf and bread on the table peanut butter and jam.... yep it worked for me... was going to water the plants around 9 hasn't happened didn't want to interrupt the bees and hummers while they were feeding just an excuse was just lazy now I should especially as hot as it is predicted to get... but I did water them well last night
am much better but still find myself either not waking up or taking an not intended nap
you all have a great day

I was going to drive the truck to town but didn't like the sound of it so called my neighbor to see when she was going to town again. Tomorrow she is going to call me so I can bring the truck to the shop and she will bring me home. One of the joy's of living in the country is finding rides.

I have been spraying grass killer on my driveway to keep the grass from growing thru the gravel. That only works for a couple of weeks so I bought some rock salt to spread. That is one of the recommendations on the computer so we'll see if that will work.

I have a can of spinach that I want to use but it's been so long since I have cooked any I don't remember how I cooked it. I think I remember that I put chopped up boiled eggs in it. Any recommendations on cooking spinach?

Martha I can't help with a spinach recipe. The only time I i attempted cooking it I was trying to fix sauteed spinach with bacon and it ended up on the ceiling! But for the weeds have you tried spraying plain white vinegar? You can also mix a little Dawn dish soap in it. We use it between the bricks on the patio and it's safe to use around the dogs. There are more precise combinations on line if you Google vinegar and water for weeds. Here is one I just found.
