TUESDAY NOV 21st

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

TUESDAY NOV 21st

Postby OregonLuvr » Tue Nov 21, 2023 9:13 am

Good morning. Chilly outside this morning 34 with a high of 58 Feels damp out even tho it isnt raining, supposed to only be cloudy today. Had a good and a bad day yesterday. Went to the UPS store with a return, then to the Pharmacy, got my vaccine. Made a stop at Dollar tree for Kleenex and a few other things. Grocery Outlet is in the same place so went in there and got some thin beef strips for my stir fry (on sale) that I am still trying to make. Put stuff away, went into the office and only had my socks on. My feet got wet..........ummmm Emma???? oh heck no way more than she could accomplish. So got a flashlight looked behind the washer and it is leaking. So got my Robogrips but couldnt really tighten anymore. So next step was get a bucket to catch the pretty ambitious leak. Then called a plumbing company and they could come out next week LOL LOL Then my brain kicked in and decided to contact Tyson whose company installed my showers. Sent him a text telling him of my issue and he said they would come out later that day after they finished a job. WHEW So the leak was impressive and I was emptying my bucket every hour. The odd thing was it felt like warm water and it was leaking at the p trap I thought. So when they were here doing my showers they installed a shut off on my water heater so I thought I would turn that off. The leak subsided so I was good until they got here. Got here about 4:30 Turns out it was the hot water line from the washer that was totally corroded inside the fitting on the wall connection that was running down the black return tube so looked to me like that was what was leaking..But that just did not make sense. So they changed out the fittings, put up a new box that held the lines, put new shut offs on the lines, checked everything else and I was good to go almost 1 1/2 hours later.
My laundry room is tight working space behind the washer but they got er done. And they only charged me $145 dollars. Now that is a score. Most charge %150 just to come out. I do think he gave me a super deal. Also his father in law is an electrician so I am going to call him today to see about getting rid of those AWFUL flourescent lights in my kitchen. I hate them So by that time I was hungry but in no mood to cook so pulled out one of my do ahead meals and had that for dinner.
I hope nothing breaks today LOL

Good Morning, It's 42 hear damp and cloudy high is only going to be 47. Good day to stay in but I have an acupuncture appointment this afternoon but I'll happily go our for that.
Karen sounds like yesterday was a mix, leaks are always in the worst places but you were so lucky the nice people came to the rescue. They really did give you a good price.

Barbie glad to hear your shot is working and that the place was so efficient. Although I was surprised they let you leave so fast. Irmi I wish I were closer so I could share your Thanksgiving turkey from Steve's Big Green Egg. Martha I hope the storm missed you I was worried when I saw the new.
I think I'll have a snack and read for awhile I feel extra lazy today.

Good Morning, Karen, I absolutely hate days like you experienced. Everything is getting to be such a chore for me. Even getting dressed in the morning!
So, what have I done that would be interesting to post? Saturday I spent at my daughters. She has Netflix so we watched “Dylan”. She and I enjoyed it very much. I have been attempting to find who did the actual swimming for the movie as I thought she was a beautiful swimmer.
Then Sunday I rest a good book. “The Light Between Oceans”. Quite dramatic and pulls at your heart strings.
I like to put books “on hold” at the library. They have changed their website. What was so easy for me now has become quite difficult, and frustrating.

Just turned noon here from rainy, cool PA. Thermometer has been sitting at 35 for most of the morning with steady rain. Don’t think we had any of the freezing or flurries here but the day is still young. Anything is possible! I just put on a pot of chili to simmer so that’ll be dinner and will freeze the rest. I didn’t have quite the right ingredients that I usually use but figured this and that would work. Besides it helped clean out the cupboard of some things that needed used. So win-win. Buddy and I had a long walk yesterday but don’t think it’ll happen today. If the rain slows down we may do a quick walk around the neighborhood later. But we at least played fetch out in the backyard a couple of times. He doesn’t seem to mind the rain or the cold. Not that I’m anxious for snow but I imagine he’ll have a great time romping in it. Snow is different from cold rain! Sue, thanks for the hint on covering the rv. That’s pretty much what I’ve done in the past, hard part is getting it on top but I may try again! Once things dry out again! So not much else happening around here today, need to vacuum the kitchen again. The boy is shedding like crazy although it has slowed down a bit! And on to the rest of the downstairs for vacuuming and dusting. Such an exciting life I lead! Have a great day and stay safe!

Good morning!

Karen, glad you could find someone to come take care of the leak sooner rather than later. Had to read 'only had my socks on' twice. Barbie, hoping the shot gives you relief in the long term. Sharon, I love watching dogs enjoy the snow! We've had some rain with temps in 40s and some frosty nights.

Made a quick run to Safeway in Leavenworth yesterday - not so quick with road construction. Have one item to pick up at small store here in town. The parking permit situation is getting old, but I think I figured out the problem. They want an application filled out online, but I discovered yesterday with no apartments available, the application isn't accepted! Had to create a bogus account to figure that out because the option doesn't show on our personal accounts. My brother had a PET scan yesterday and results are in his chart. Need to look at it in more detail, but it looks like good and bad news. 3 classmates (that I know of) have passed away in the last 6 weeks.

It's later than I thought so best get with it!

It's a chilly 55° morning in Northern California! Clear, blue skies with no rain over next 7 days- good for travelers. My room was a chilly 66° when I finally convinced myself to get up! Turned on space heater, slowly warming my big room. I'll be so glad to get Cenral Heat back! Manufacturer messaged yesterday that tracking showed part was due to deliver to installer yesterday. I'll call shortly and ask if it's there, as they haven't called me. I can be annoying, when I need something done!
Soon as I get morning chores done, I'll be heading for a quick (I hope) trip to Costco as I'm short on chicken drumsticks for Stormy and want our pumpkin pie- theirs is the best! My once a year indulgence. We ordered food pre made for Thanksgiving, which I pick up at noon tomorrow,so dinner will be warm and serve! My handyman cleaned up the beautiful carpet of fall colored leaves, yesterday. If he had asked, I would have said, leave them a few days, as I love the beauty of the tree with its yellow, orange, gold carpet. They don't bother me and no wind to blow them around over next few days. More yet to come down.
Karen, I sympathize as I've has more than my share of water incidents!
Barbara, I hope, when the long acting local they mix with that shot wears off, you get good results from the rest of the mixture.
Have a good rest of your day everyone.

Karen, I'm so glad you figured out the plumbing issue and the bill was so nice! BJ, I hope your acupuncture appointment went well. Lyn, I', glad you were able to spend time with your daughter watching Netflix. We have that also and watch it a lot. Sharon, when I see your weather, it makes me cringe. MD winters were never pleasant, and I'm so glad we finally sold it. Anita, I'm so glad you are staying in touch with Carolb. When she and I talk about things, she'll tell me you updated her. Velda, I hope you get your central heat up and running soon.

It was 67 when I got up this morning and the temperature has dropped from 85 to 81. Steve pressure washed the pergola today so I called management to let them know everything was done. It's a chore. There are folks in the area that will do that for you but it's so much cheaper for us to do that. I think burgers will be on the grill for dinner. I didn't sleep well last night but if I take a nap, I'll be up all night.

Good afternoon gals! Just after noon here.

Am still feeling pretty good. The shot site is a little sore this morning but that is to be expected. The real test will be at work with the twisting and turning which is what sets off the sciatica pain. I got a text message this morning asking if I could work today at the other shop. Said "nope, Drs orders for another day of chilling". :D

Nothing big planned today of course. No putters for me this morning. :( Is a beautiful day for it tho. It has been extremely windy the past several days but today is just a light breeze. It was a bit chilly in my bedroom early this morning so I turned on the heat for a bit. I want to bake banana/blueberry muffins. My bananas are nice and dark now. I have a mix for the bread so just need to put a couple other things with it and bake.

I need to go to the bank to deposit the cash I took out the other day for the sale, plus the little bit extra I made. I might just wait until tomorrow to do that tho. Cats need their claws clipped today too. I should be getting my new glasses today. I hope I like the frames OK.

Karen, sorry about your leak. Those are no fun! But sounds like you got a good deal on fixing it, and promptly too!

BJ, I was surprised I got out of there that fast too. They had told my manager to pick me up around 11am but they called her an hour earlier. I was told to have someone with me at home for the first 24 hours, so I had my feline nurses here watching over me to make sure I took long naps and filled their food bowls occasionally. :D

Lyn, sorry to hear about the library. I hate it when they change things like that! If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Most of the time they just make things worse. Frustrates me too!

Sharon, chili is easy to throw together. I never make mine quite the same but it is always still good!

Velda, the squeaky wheel gets the grease! You gotta keep on top of people sometimes! I agree that Costco has super good pumpkin pie. I don't even really like pumpkin pie but theirs is really light and creamy! I got one from my real estate agent 6 years ago when I bought my mobile home in Vista (which was 6 years ago today!). It was so big and i was gonna give it away but once I tried it I ended up eating the whole thing! (with lots of Reddi Whip on it! ). I would imagine that their turkey dinners are great too.

Irmi, I wish I had someone to grill food for me! I don't know how to grill food on an outdoor cooker. I guess I need to learn... But food always tastes better when someone else makes it anyways!

I guess that about covers it. It is nice to have permission to be lazy for another day! No guilt involved! :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Some updates: Got my passenger's side mirror installed yesterday with help from a neighbor. It works great, though I am having to keep adjusting the entire mirror a bit. The inside mirror portion adjusts from inside, but it only goes so far, and originally the outside part was too far in, so bent it to adjust it before i drove today and then again afterwards. I am hoping it is OK now.

Yesterday, I had asked the camp host for the names of any mobile technicians to help install my refrigerator door because all the RV dealers around here are many weeks backed up and some are not even returning my calls. I even called several near Sarasota, which is where I am going to be next week. Would you believe one turned me down because they "only work on vehicles less than 10 years old"???? How snobby is that? :(

Anyway, I had found out yesterday that camp host used to work for an RV service place, so he came over today and worked on it. It was different than any others he had seen and we could not even find a YouTube video on a similar door. Problem is that there is an upper pin pointing down and a lower pin pointing up and seemingly no way to take either off without messing up the door. Finally, he laid down on the floor and discovered that the lower pin had a small hole in it for a tiny screwdriver. Voila!! It came off. I had to help him by holding the door while he moved it onto the upper pin and then screwed in the lower pin. Anyway, it now works and I paid him $80, which I think was fair.

So, I put things from cooler back in refrigerator and then ran out to Walmart to pick up a few things, and to Domino's for a pizza for dinner. I am sticky and worn out and about ready to take a quick shower. Hot here and sunny, but a nice breeze. I still have a lot of stuff to put away because of the mess I have been living in. Going out tomorrow to visit a loggerhead turtle sanctuary--going to be too crowded over the weekend, so it is tomorrow or not at all until March when I come back here. Saw a 92' cruiser go through locks today. It has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms, and is for sale for $8,149,000, in case anyone is interested!!

By the way, son got COVID booster, but DIL did not, so she is home from school living in the lower level bedroom with COVID! (She is high school vice principal so gets exposed to everything.) Very unhappy because they had to cancel all their family plans for Thanksgiving. Glad I got my booster because one of the cousins I am visiting for Thanksgiving has a serious rare disease that causes muscle weakness and a poor immune system, plus is extremely sensitive to getting sick, so I would not go if I were not.

I thought I wrote on here earlier, but must be thinking about the Thanksgiving post. Karen, I think you are very lucky to have discovered that leak early and that the first people couldn't help because I'm sure you got a better deal from who did come out. To continue on repairs, Judy great news on both fronts. I'm sure you're happy to have your mirror and refrigerator door working. And had a mobile mechanic come out, you probably would have paid double that just for coming out. Their rates have skyrocketed. So you did good their, too.

Anita, I'm sorry for the losses of classmates and for any bad news on your brothers tests.

I kind of decided I need to spend money on other things and haven't been looking as seriously at tt's. But it would make so much sense to have one here. So looked today and there's one I'd consider newly listed on FB marketplace. If it's still around come the weekend, I'll probably take a ride to see it.

On another note the gas lines got rerun and ground covered, my car is back in its parking spot next to my rig as of yesterday afternoon and the gas company came and hooked up the lines today then they had a truck come fill the tank and I immediately took two huge loads of laundry in. All done. I have lots of underwear and was almost out lol. There are two small laundry rooms here, but this one is so convenient for me and the other was in constant use while this one was closed.

Yikes, while typing this my immediate neighbor here just texted me that she has Covid. I don't think I have any good tests still, but will definitely be watching for any signs. I was talking with her this morning and she told me she thought she had a cold.

Covid tests are available now thru covid.gov they will ship on 11/27 I ordered mine. I still have the earlier ones I got a few weeks ago but you can order another set so I did.
I have a fan running on the floor of my office inside the door where the washer leaked. I also took my rug shampooer and sucked up some water so that helped. It will be a while tho before this dries out. Oh well patience helps. Did a load of laundry and everything worked just dandy. I have a fan blowing on the carpet now to help it dry, lets hope no major damage.
Tysons father in law is an electriction....wahoo I want to take out my flourescent light in the kitchen. I hate those things so he is going to come by and see what I want and what he is dealing with. I also need a couple of GFI switches. Things are looking up.
A nice sunny afternoon today, makes me smile

I did read somewhere that if you could not get out to get a new test that the old ones would work fine, even if a little overdue, so not a bad idea to test ourselves before getting involved with a crowd on Thanksgiving.

Here is an article from Cleveland Clinic that says the expiration date on the package may not be the real expiration dates and gives you a government site to verify that it is OK. Apparently, some test boxes were printed with very conservative expiration dates, which were later extended --- https://health.clevelandclinic.org/expired-covid-test/#Do%20Expired%20Covid-19%20Tests%20Work?

Karen thanks for the link to the tests. It said my address was eligible to place two orders. I guess because DH and I have different last names. it also had a link to all the expiration dates that were still good.
Beth sure hope you didn't catch it from your neighbor. So many people are sick and think it is a cold so don't test.

Unfortunately it's saying my address is a business address and won't let me order. I do have one that supposedly out of date. I couldn't find this lot number on the list of extended ones, but lots before this are so, will be taking one of these tomorrow. I'll see if I can order to my mailing address then have the new ones forwarded.
